What are your thoughts on Splash Star's Dark Fall?

It’s been like five years since I’ve watched Splash Star, but…

*SPOILERS FOR AN 11 YEAR OLD PRECURE SERIES*

Okay, I remember that the guy who was supposed to be the Big Bad, Akudaikan, was actually a robot or something, built by Gooyan, the creepy little guy who turned out to be a creepy not-so-little omnicidal maniac. That’s the kind of twist I would have loved to see in, say, Smile, so my feelings on him are positive.

What I remember about the “mini-bosses”, in order: Karehan the plant guy got really pissed about Bloom forgetting his name all the time, that was funny. Moerumba’s voice got really old, really fast. I remember the dimwitted spider guy (Dorugumo?) only because he inexplicably sounded exactly like a Japanese version of Grounder from the old Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog cartoon, and equally inexplicable, his webbing always looked to me like toothpaste. Ms. Shiitare had the same “forgetting the name” gag that Karehan did, and I seem to remember her being rather busty for a Precure villain… but other than that, I can’t recall much about her. Kintolesky was freaking AWESOME, and well deserves his popularity in the fandom. If there were others in the group, I honestly can’t remember them…

And then there’s the Kiryuu sisters. In my opinion, Splash Star only came into its own when Michiru and Kaoru showed up and the show started to pull away from being Futari Wa with a fresh coat of paint. I was really invested in their storyline, and I remember that I was rather ticked off that they were “banished” halfway through the show and only reappeared during the finale… but oh, what a finale.

Of course, though, Bandai promptly went about pretending they didn’t exist for about ten years… The lukewarm reception to Splash Star in general hit the Kiryuus the hardest. It got so bad that I was genuinely shocked to see them even in a silent cameo in All Stars: Haru no Carnival, and when they were revealed to be getting Figuarts along with Bloom and Egret a couple months ago… well, when I saw the notifications in my inbox, I thought I had to be hallucinating. Up until that day, I swore up and down that we would never, ever, EVER see Splash Star Figuarts.

But back to the subject at hand… I’d put Dark Fall somewhere in the upper middle in terms of Precure villain groups. It’s hardly the worst (*cough*Mahou Tsukai*cough*) and has a few standouts, but it pales in comparison to, say, DysDark.

DarkerShining’s thoughts on the Pretty Cure Movies: Futari wa Pretty Cure Splash Star: Tic-Tac Crisis Hanging by a Thin Thread.

Hey everyone! Since I had some spare time and was having trouble making progress on my fanfic stuff, I decided why not do another one of these. This time, I’ll be talking about the Futari wa Pretty Cure Splash Star movie. It’s a bit shorter than the other movies in the Pretty Cure franchise, for some reason.

Like I did when I did my thoughts on the two Futari wa Pretty Cure Max Heart movies, I rewatched it and took some notes underway so I’d remember anything I might want to bring up.

And just to warn you, I will basically be spoiling the entire movie under the Read More link, with some spoilers for Splash Star in general as well. Okay, let’s go!
