Hello friends and family! If you have been wondering what I have been up to for the past 8 days in Colombia, here is a general recap:
1. I made a fool of myself trying to speak Spanish haha 2. I have learned a lot about the Spanish language 3. I experienced fellowship in a whole new way 4. I accidentally told someone that I have a husband (esposo) instead of a mirror (espejo) 5. I was asked to photograph a wedding! 6. I ate a BUNCH of new foods and liked them 7. I learned about a few fruits that are native to South America, and they look straight out of a Dr. Sues book 8. I ate some of those weird fruits 9. I learned how to wash clothes by hand 10. I took the coldest shower of my life and cried when I realized that most of the world will never experience warm showers or bubble baths after a long day. 11. I read five books of the Bible in a row 12. I taught an English 2 class 13. I slept in all the way to 9 on Saturday! 14. I cried about missing home and then cried more when I realized I have 6 more weeks to go. 15. I cried about the fact that I have to leave in 6 weeks. 16. I laughed at myself for crying so much 17. I taught the Seminary students the words bromance and selfie 18. I got a roommate named Barbie! 19. I saw someone eat this thing called a papa. It is a potato with a hard boiled egg inside of it, the whole thing is rolled in rice, and deep friend. (No, I did not try it.) 20. I went to sleep at 9pm more than once. (Curfew for students is 9pm and we have to be up at 6am everyday to do chores.)
So….YEAH! Basically, I love it here. The only things I have to complain about are the amount of bugs (that’s a given) and the fact that I’m not used to waking up at 6am. The class schedule Monday-Friday is awesome though: class 8am-10am, coffee break (literally) 10am-10:30am, class 10:30am-1pm, and lunch at 1. Colombia is fantastic. The weather is beautiful, the food is great, the people are incredible, and The Lord is moving in my heart. I am so thankful to have this opportunity, and I can’t thank everyone enough for all of the prayers and support. I hope all of my friends in school passed their finals with flying colors, and I pray that God directs your steps all the days of your life. To God be the glory forever, Amen.
