Oh gosh, I’m suddenly reminded of this “party for a cause” kids’ crafting/party planning book that we got in at the library
(the idea being that they could have parties as fundraisters). There was a section for a pride-themed party. But it was like… the most embarrassingly straight concept of what that would entail. It talked about the LGBT community for like 2 sentences max (paragraphs were spent on some minor and unrelated thing the author was made fun of for as a kid), and their idea for the party was a freak-themed party. Like… display what kind of a freak you are to the world.
Th-thanks for… reinforcing that we’re freaks to children and teaching them to take pride out of context because “everyone is a little weird” or whatever. :v
