fun stuff i do when i am bored

Okay but I really love that Christine is ADHD and I have this headcannon that the reason Christine likes Jenna so much is that Jenna calms her down and can tell her countless stories and she likes feeling relaxed and not having to move around in the biggest ways all the time

half their conversations is like super excited where they both kinda talk over each other but can still somehow understand one another and then the other half is jenna animatedly telling christine a story about whatever and chris kinda gradually relaxes as she keeps going bc jenna has a nice voice and she’s a really great storyteller so christine feels involved even if she’s not directly involved yknow,,

jenna paints her nails bc christine is way too bouncy to do them on her own and its easier for christine to sit still when jenna tells her stories and its just a nice experience all around alright,,jenna likes nail art and does fun designs and christine is always kind of in awe over the fact that she managed to sit through all of it bc it’s so time-consuming but its bc jenna’s just good at telling stories and stuff

Sarah, how did you learn English? what kept you motivated?? I am trying to learn Japanese but even tho the pronunciation is really close to brazilian Portuguese (my mother language) the grammar and other stuff is so complicated that even tho I have fun studying I feel like I am not having improvement. Any tips?

At first I learned english at school! I think the first thing to do is to learn the basic grammar and words! So thats where I learned it! I think thats the most boring step since theres no secrets: you have to learn everything by heart. So you’ll be able to write simple sentences!
Then I discovered the english part of Youtube with Pewdiepie when I was 14-15? So I watched his videos even if I didnt really understand, I just watched it because he was really funny! And that’s how I learned english thanks to videos!👼👼 Tbh I think thats the best way to learn quickly. Because for example when he’s playing a game and he says “I go left”, the character goes to the left so I understand what “I go left” means. So basically you learn words and sentences without even noticing 😎 At first I didn’t understand much but after 1 year I was able to understand 90% of the vid :^D
After that I discovered tumblr and it helped me a lot. Because everything is in english here, so I have to read in english, write in english, and talk to most of my friends in english. So find a friend who talks japanese! At first it will be really hard you’ll go on reverso every two minutes lmao but after a while you’ll see the progress!
I think these are great tips because you don’t feel like you’re learning something since you’re watching a funny video or you’re talking to a friend.
But while doing this I think you should also keep learning some grammar or vocabulary👼👼 Good luck!!

Here’s some of the most amazing and invaluable advice you’ll most-likely ever get from one of my good colleagues and legends in comics/gaming, creator JOE MADUREIRA. It’s what i’ve been preaching to you aspiring artists since i arrived on DA, but i think his POV says it perfectly:

*WARNING: SOME MATURE LANGUAGE*

“DO YOU REALLY WANT TO BE A SUCCESSFUL ARTIST?

Or a successful WORKING PROFESSIONAL?

Believe it or not there is a difference. I’m not usually a soapbox type guy, I don’t like instructing people, and I think I’m a terrible teacher. But hey, it’s Friday and I’m in a strange mood. So here goes:

I’ve noticed that a good number of my fans happen to be aspiring artists themselves. This is for all you guys. I get asked constantly: "Where should I go to school?” “What classes should I take?” “What should I study for anatomy?” “What pencils and paper do you use?” “Should I be working digitally now instead of traditionally?” “How do I fix my poses? Learn composition? Perspective?” “When am I going to develop my own style?” “Who were your influences?” “Teach me how to draw hands!” The list goes on…

External image

Here’s the deal. All of that stuff *is* important, and it may nudge you in the right direction. A lot of it you will discover for yourself. What works best for one person doesn’t work for another. That’s the beauty of art. It’s personal. It’s discovery. DON’T WORRY ABOUT ALL THAT CRAP!

Instead I’m going to answer the questions that you *SHOULD* be asking, but aren’t. These are things that have only recently occurred to me, after doing this for 20+ years. These things seem so obvious, but apparently they elude a lot of people, because I am surprised at how many ridiculously talented artists are ‘failing’ professionally. Or just unhappy. The beauty of what I’m about to tell you is that it doesn’t matter what field you’re in or what your art style is.

In no particular order:

1) DO WHAT YOU LOVE. If you are passionate about what you’re doing, it shows. If you’re having fun, it shows. If you’re bored, IT SHOWS. Some guys are able to work on stuff they have zero interest in, and still pull off great work, but I find that when I do this my motivation takes a huge hit. And Motivation is key. Money is not a great motivator. It’s temporary like everything else. And honestly, I’ve gotten paid the most money for some of the shittiest work I have ever done. That may sound awesome, but it’s not. And here’s why…

2) You MUST stay Excited and Motivated. Have you noticed that there are days you can’t draw a god damned thing? And some days you feel like you can draw anything? It’s 4am but you don’t notice because you are in the ZONE. Your hand is racing ahead of your mind and you can do no wrong?! Maybe it’s some new paper you got. Or a new program you’ve been wanting to try out. Or you just found some amazing shit on DeviantArt, or watched some movie that just makes you want to run straight to your board. This relates to the above because while it is possible to involve yourself in projects you aren’t excited about—maybe you need the cash, or think it will look good on your resume, whatever it is—it’s not going to last. You need to stay fresh. Expose yourself to new things. New techniques. You should be getting tired of your own shit on a fairly regular basis. Otherwise other people will.

3) Check your Ego. If you think you’re the shit, you’re already doomed. You may be really, really good at what you do, but there’s someone better. Sorry. There’s always plenty to learn, even for us old dogs. So when I meet young upstarts who have this sense of entitlement, or a know-it-all attitude, I just have to laugh. Some of the biggest egos I’ve ever witnessed were from people who have accomplished the least. Meanwhile, most guys who are supremely talented AND successful, and have EARNED the RIGHT to have an ego and throw their weight around, don’t. Why is that? It’s because…

External image

4) RELATIONSHIPS ARE IMPORTANT. This may be one of the biggest lessons I’ve had to learn. Early on, I didn’t value my relationships with people. Creatively or otherwise. I felt like I didn’t need anyone’s help and I could figure everything out on my own. Let’s face it, many of us become artists because we are reclusive, social misfits. We’d rather stay inside and draw shit than go outside and play. We like to live inside our own minds. Why not?! It’s awesome in there! And sometimes we don’t want to let other people in. But like I said—you can’t do it alone. I can honestly say that as much as I try to stay current, as much as I try to push my work and draw kick ass shit that will excite people, I would not be where I am today if it weren’t for all the other people I’ve met and learned from along the way. Guys who pulled strings for me. Took risks on me. Believed I was the right guy for the job. You need to manage your relationships. You need to network, and meet people. Drawing comics is still a pretty good place for reclusive types—but if you want to work in big studios—Making games, Films, animation, basically any other type of job on the planet, you’d better start making some connections. Be likeable. Be professional. That doesn’t mean be an opportunistic ladder climber. Fake people lose in the end. Be yourself, but be professional. It’s no secret that when people are hiring, our first instinct is to bring in people we know. It’s human nature. I don’t like unknowns, even if their portfolio is awesome. If we have a mutual connection, if they have great things to say about you, you’re in. If you have AMAZING artwork to show, and I call your last employer and they tell me what a pain in the ass you are to work with, you’re done. Talent and skill only get you so far. I am literally amazed at how often I meet guys that are total assholes and think they are going to get anywhere.

5) Here’s the BIG ONE. The greatest obstacle you will ever have to overcome IS YOURSELF. And the Fear that you are creating in your own head. Stay positive. Stop defeating yourself. There are artists I know that are so damn good they make me pee my pants. I look up to these mofos. I study their shit and I want to draw like them. And they are almost NEVER working on their DREAM project. And—big surprise, they aren’t happy in their job. “Why NOT?! WTF is WRONG WITH YOU?!” is usually my reaction. And the answer is almost always “The market isn’t great right now” “Other stories/games/comics like mine don’t do very well” “The shit that’s hot right now is nothing like mine, It’s just going to fail.” “I’m not sure I’m good enough.” “I need the money.” “Too Risky.” “I tried it before and failed. ” It doesn’t matter what words they use, they are afraid for one reason or another. I know. I’ve been there.

But here’s the deal. YOU NEED TO TAKE RISKS. Guess what? YOU ARE MOST LIKELY GOING TO FAIL. If you want it—REALLY want it, that won’t stop you. You will learn A LOT. My good friend Tim constantly jokes about how I jump out of planes without a parachute and worry about the landing on the way down. You may think that I’m lucky, that it’s easy for me to say because I’m already successful, that I’m in a different situation than you all are. But it’s not true. Risk is risk, no matter what level you’re at. If you’re already successful, you just take even bigger risks. But they never go away. Everything in life is Risk vs. Reward. Not just in your career. LIFE. You’d better get used to it.

I didn’t know what the hell I was doing when I got into comics. I left the #1 selling book at the time ( Uncanny X-men ) to work on Battle Chasers during a time when 'Conan’ was about the only fantasy comic people knew. And no one was buying it. I wanted to work in games, so I started a game company. I had NO IDEA WTF I was doing. I just wanted it, really bad. We tanked. It failed. No big surprise. But the people I worked with got hired elsewhere and rehired me. I started ANOTHER game Company. We had 4 people and a dream, and some publishers wouldn’t even meet with us, because their 'next gen console’ teams had 90+ people on them. I literally got hung up on. “Stick to handheld games, it’s smaller, maybe you can handle that…” one MAJOR publisher told us. I don’t blame them. But we didn’t let it stop us. Thank god we didn’t listen to them. Vigil was born. Darksiders happened, AND we got to make a sequel. It stands shoulder to shoulder with the best games in the industry, and the most elite and experienced game dev studios in the world. How is that possible?!!! Hardly any of us had even worked on a console game before. I’ll be honest, I was thinking we would fail the whole time. I just didn’t care. If I had to play the odds on this one, I’d bet against us.

Why am I telling you all this shit? This is not me patting myself on the back. It’s just stuff that has somehow only dawned on me recently when it’s been staring me in the face for so long. I feel like I need to wake you guys up!!! I’ve been limiting myself. I’ve gotten afraid. I’ve taken less risks. I saw my career going places I didn’t want to go. I wasn’t happy and I wasn’t excited. And I’ve realized, that all that stuff I just talked about is the reason I am where I am today. Not because I have a manga style, or I draw cool hands, or there’s energy in my drawings, or all the other things people rattle off to me. There are other guys that do all that same shit, and do it better. And amazingly, those same guys constantly tell me “Man, I wish I could do what you are doing.” “SO DO IT!!!!!” PLEASE listen to me—because I want you guys to make it. I want to look to one of you people for inspiration some day when it’s 2am and I need to keep drawing. Stop worrying about all the other stuff—the pencils, the paper, the anatomy, all that shit. It will only get you so far. You’ve already got most of what you need. I hope this helps some people. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for all the support over the years. You are all one of the greatest motivating forces in my life and my career. Sappy but true. Ok, let’s go draw some shit!!!“

Living in New York was beyond stressful. It seemed like every other week there was an attack. And the last one? Aliens!? When people move here it is hard to adjust at first, even with earth’s mightiest heroes, The Avengers, in the same city. As luck would have it one of them happened to be Y/N’s neighbor.  Captain America, was currently taking out his trash when she walked upstairs with her laundry basket under one arm, her keys in the other hand and a coffee cup clutched between her teeth threatening to spill all over her freshly laundered clothes.

“Well hello neighbor, need any help there?” He asked looking at her with slight smile on his face.

“Nph fanks, Imph fineph” She mumbled into her cup

He laughed and took the basket out of her hands. Y/N unlocked the door and placed her coffee and keys on the kitchen table. Steve handed her the laundry basket and she placed it on the counter. She turned around he was standing in the doorway and it was the first time she had stopped to look at him. His frame was so large that he almost took up the entire door way. He was extremely handsome and had an amazing smile.

Honestly though I legitimately love being autistic.

Even when hyperempathy and hypermorality conspire to fuck me up, even when I have to constantly worry about sensory overload because of living in a world that wasn’t built for people like me. Even with all the bullshit we get from society.

I just genuinely love it? I love always having stimming as a self regulatory tool when I’m anxious, and I love it when I’m so enthusiastic about something I can’t stop happy stimming.

I feel everything very intensely, I have an unique point of view, I’ve got an unbreakable confidence on my own ideals and can’t be affected by peer or social pressure. When I’m abysmally depressed, and can’t care about my own life at all, I still have my special interests above everything else to give me something to look forward to, something to keep me going.

I can be so passionate and dedicated about the stuff I care about. I can spend hours doing research about it and never get bored, I can retain so much fun or useful knowledge.

And it’s all because I’m Autistic. It makes me who I am and I would never want to change that.

So you just,,,,,, just wanted to brag that you’re a faster reader than I am even when you’re half-asleep???? wow anon. what kind of person–KIDDING I’M KIDDING ily

Ahhh that’s interesting!!! I think it’s the opposite for me haha but heck that’s a talent because you can spend less time on boring stuff and more time on fun stuff! :D :D

NOOOOOOO hahaha maybe you’re a fast reader and just don’t remember the details?? Because some of the questions are a little weird sometimes, like regarding specific words in the passage, and it doesn’t necessarily mean you didn’t read thoroughly!

earth-to-hawkeye  asked:

P, Y

P: Are you what George R. R. Martin would call an “architect” or a “gardener”? (How much do you plan in advance, versus letting the story unfold as you go?)  I am so much a gardener it isn’t even funny– it’s not fun, either, in a way, because being a gardener tends to take you down a lot of blind alleys and require a lot of improvisation or ripping stuff out and redoing it, and it can lead to a lot of abandoned works on my google drive that won’t ever be finished.  :-/  And yet… when I plan a story from beginning to end, I get so bored I won’t write it.

Y: A character you want to protect.  Samwise Gamgee.  I haven’t written him in more than a decade, but I would WADE THROUGH HELL JUST TO  FIGHT A CIRCLE SAW for that boy.

Part Two

Part Three

‘Do I look OK? I mean do I look weird?’ you asked nervously.

‘Calm down, you look fine, and my friends are gonna love you sis.’ Stiles assured.

‘Ok.’ you said taking a deep breath.

You were about to meet Stiles’ friends for the first time, they were all coming over to “Meet their first Stilinski Girl” Stiles’ words not yours.

DING DONG

‘Oh shit. Tell them I got sick.’ you whispered, suddenly too nervous to function.

‘(Y/N), open the door.’ Stiles said.

‘No way.’

‘Open it or I will tell them you have so much gas its disabling you.’ Stiles challenged.

Apparently your new brother was a butt face.

You glared at him once more before opening the door with a large polite smile.

‘Hey.’ you said looking at the group in front of you.

It was mostly teens around Stiles’ age, one you recognized as Scott McCall from some of the photos Stiles had shown you yesterday. The others you had no clue, there was also an older guy who looked closer to your age.

‘Come on in guys.’ Stiles said, causing you to step aside and let them in.

‘(Y/N) these are my friends. That’s my brother from another mother Scott, his on and off girlfriend Allison, my crush since third grade Lydia and her boyfriend for now and co captain of the lacrosse team Jackson.’ Stiles introduced, each person rolling their eyes at his choice of words for them.

‘Oh yeah and this old wrinkled, grey haired guy here is Derek. He doesn’t have any friends his own age, so I thought this would be good for him.’ Stiles said, whispering the last part while looking at the older guy.

‘Guys, this is (Y/N), my long lost big sister. She’s twenty five, from Texas, and…that’s kinda all I know about her actually.’ Stiles said.

‘Well then lets gets to know each other.’ The red head, Lydia, suggested.

Soon everyone was in the living room sitting on the couches and love seats, drinking their selected drinks that Stiles had handed out, no one knowing what to say.

‘So uh, what did you want to know to know about me?’ you asked.

‘How about your birthday.’ Scott said.

‘It’s July eighth.’ you replied.

‘What part of Texas are you from?’ Jackson asked.

‘I wanna just say Dallas but really just all over the Dallas Forth Worth area.’ you answered.

‘Do people really where cowboy hats there, like in the movies?’ Lydia asked.

‘Stereotype uh, but no, some do but mostly farmers and ranch workers. We don’t all run around in cowboy hats and boots yelling yee haw. I’m more of a plaid shirt over a tee and jeans kinda girl if to be honest.’ you rambled.

‘You really are Stiles’ sister.’ Allison smiled.

‘You say that like its a bad thing.’ Stiles gasped in mock offense.

‘What do you do for fun?’ Scott asked.

‘Uh crafts, I love crafts.’ you answered.

‘Like what?’ Stiles asked, his own interest peaked.

‘Like sewing, I’ve been sewing for about five years now, I also make polymer clay jewelry now.’ you reply.

‘Oh so like clothes and stuff?’ Lydia asked.

‘Nah, clothes are boring and too much work, plus I hat sewing machines, I sew these little things called Plushies. I’ll show you some when the rest of my things from home arrive.’ you explained.

‘Name five awesome things about you.’ Allison said.

‘I am a black belt in karate, I know my way around a gun or two but i’m excellent with throwing knives. I’m an awesome fisher and I’m LGBT, so that’s awesome too I guess.’ you answered.

‘Wait what?’ Stiles gasped.

‘I’m bi, is that a problem here?’ you asked around, once again really nervous.

‘No no it’s cool, no one bothered, I’m certainly and Dad wont care either way as long as your safe about everything.’ Stiles said.

You sighed in relief, a lot of people at home didn’t take the news so well.

The rest of the evening was spent with you answering questions and then asking everyone else questions about themselves.

All the while everyone was trying to find a way to tell you you were sitting in a room full of monsters.

I like sketching when I watch movies (especially when the movie is a bit boring but the characters, faces and costumes are still inspiring). And I don’t want to accuse any of those of being boring, but more as inspiring. I love when everything is in black and white too.

So this is from a movie called The Maltese Falcon 1941.

I will be posting stuff like that from time to time. I am not sure how interesting for watching they are, but it was definitely fun to do!

new years resolutions for 2015:
  • move to the city: i know this is very pop punk of me but i’m starting to feel like i need to leave this town tbh. i love my friends here but i kinda need more action going on
  • get hella fit: 2014 was about learning to love myself for who i am and that aint really work as well as i hoped lmao so i’m just gonna hit the gym more
  • get more proactive with everything: i wanna be that dude that invites people to do fun stuff and organizes things again, i tried taking a backseat in that department and it didn’t work too well so i wanna get back to thinking of cool stuff to do and just inviting people. honestly i shouldn’t be nervous about that shit, most people tend to be as bored as i am anyway. this also goes for introducing myself to strangers at parties, just cause they don’t know me doesn’t mean my existence there is an inconvience for them that’s a fucked up way to think.
  • know that feel when gf: i feel like i’m more bored than lonely if you get me but i miss planning rad adventures with a significant other. the solution to this kinda fits in with my last three resolutions too. i’ll miss posting feels guy memes if it happens though.
  • submit myself to the Infinite Celestial Orb of Power and become one with the Void: i keep telling myself i’m gonna do this, 2015 is gonna be my year for getting fit, getting happy, getting busy and ascending from my mortal skin cage.

Preference #11 He Hears You Sing For The First Time

Calum:

He watched from a distances as you sang softly to whatever song was playing on the radio. He for a fact that no idea what so ever what song it was that was playing.

It’s like Amen from the back of the choir.Sweet home of freedom underneath the tires.Kicked back sittin’ by a cracklin’ fire..’ You hummed softly as you danced around the kitchen getting dinner ready for the boys.

He giggled softly as he walked deeper into the room, still unseen by you seeing you were so into whatever you were cooking and the song itself. He was amazed, you were as bad as he thought you would be.

‘Tell me,all of your stories. And don’t you leave nothin’ out 'cause baby..’ You hummed a bit louder as he smiled and rested his chin on the counter watching you with nothing but love in his eyes.

Turning around you screamed as you noticed him sitting there with a large grin on his face. “Babe that was fantastic!” He shouted as you blushed and waved your hand embarrassed that he had caught you singing.

Song: You Sound Good To Me by Lucy Hale

Ashton:

You were laying by the pool working on your tan. Your phone was placed next to the side table playing random songs. You were softly nodding your head along to the song that was playing. It wasn’t long before a song you had recently become obsessed with came on.

'Before you came into my life I didn’t know where I was going My self-esteem was way too low. Then you grabbed my hand and you told me to, get up, get up..’ You sang softly as you closed you eyes and nodded your head to the beat of the music.

Just as you were starting the chorus of the song, you couldn’t help but think about your boyfriend Ashton. This song reminds you of how you felt before and after you started dating him. He had truly helped you over come someone many things.

’Makes me want to love you a little more everyday .Cause you made me save me From making all the dumb mistakes.“ You started off a little bit louder as Ashton walked into your back yard smiling seeing you sing the song he had caught you dancing and listen to very often lately.

'It’s impossible to give back to you.Everything you give to me,now I like who I am and I know that I’m good enough. All because you gave your love love love, all because you gave your love love love’You mumbled just before Ashton walked over and placed a sweet kiss onto your lips.

Song:You Gave Me Love by Macy Kate

Michael:

You were baby-sitting your mom’s friends kids. They were always into doing really fun stuff which you absolutely loved. You were never bored when you were watching them. Today you had invited your boyfriend to come and meet the little ones you were always talking about. But to burn time till they got here you guys were dancing and singing along to the music channel.

'And it’s kind of like do re mi.About as easy as a b c.Beautiful like a symphony,I’m talking about you and me here’ You sang loudly while spinning around with one of the kids as the other one was using the controller as a mic.

You laughed as you walked over and picked the other one up and the two of you got close and started to sing the second verse full out. ’You’re so wrong that it makes you right.Keep me wide awake at night,I can’t sleep now I know you’re around’ You guys sang as you both started to dance alike and pretend you guys were doing a duet.

You guys laughed as the song ended all falling onto the floor breathing heavily as a loud laugh was heard. Turning around you couldn’t help but blush as you noticed you boyfriend holding his phone up with a huge smile on his face.

Song: Melodies by Madison Beer

Luke:

You giggled softly as you and Luke were standing side by side talking to the boys of One Direction. You and the boys were at a local interview for one of your new magazine covers. You had invited the boys and they were all here. It was a lunch party for Chanel’s new releases.

As you and Luke were in a conversation with Louis and Harry one of you favorite songs came on. You couldn’t help but look across at you manger and start singing and point at her. 'All I need’s a little love in my life. All I need’s a little love in the dark.A little but I’m hoping it might kick start
Me and my broken heart.’ You sang as you sent her a wink causing the boys to look at you and laugh.

Pulling you closer to him look leaned down and whispered in you ear as your cheeks flushed.'I need a little loving tonight.Hold me so I’m not falling apart..’ He sang softly causing you to pull back and place a sweet kiss onto his lips. Turning back to the other two the four of you guys started to sing and dance along to the song making  everyone else in the room soon join along.

Song: Me and My Broken Heart by Rixton
