Went on 4Chan to get the inside scoop. They're about to dump on other tags. I would avoid any mainstream tag for now if gore, animal abide, sexual assault, or the like trigger you. They've figured out people are moving away from the fem tags. They're going to hit whyineedfeminism, whoneedsfeminism, body positive, and more. Avoid huge fandom tags too. Just for an hour or so.

I’d just advise staying out of all tags until tomorrow. They’re posting some pretty gross stuff, just stick to your dash for now.

So another RT employee has come out with their opinion on Gavin's tweets. Jeremy has posted on his askfm (@AH_Jeremy) about it. He called offensive words/content "edgy" and people who get upset by them ridiculous. He even related it to South Park and called that show edgy too. I expected fans to defend Gavin, but having actual RT employees coming out to defend him is really disappointing.

Source here. Pretty gross of Jeremy but like I said, RT is kind of an echo chamber, though I’m sure there are people who disagree, too.

I actually really, really hope I one day run into a dude who calls me a "fake gamer girl", because I can tell him I played Doom when I was 3 years old and, technically, it wouldn't be a lie. (My uncle played it while babysitting me and let me press the fire key.)

My favourite is the story about a woman who was wearing a gaming t-shirt or something and he was like ‘I bet you don’t even know what that game is’. And it was literally a game she was a developer on. Fav.

I find it hilarious in a very tragic way that most bloggers on tumblr who yell "DON´T FIGHT FIRE WITH FIRE!" Usually only call out oppressed groups, but very rarely actually reblog/support said oppressed groups when the dominant culture clearly has done something shitty. And even if said bloggers do support/reblog anything, it´s usually the very "safe" issues, like "ALL PEOPLE BLEED RED WHY CAN´T GAYS (only gays? what about trans/non-binary/etc?) MARRY!"

With the whole Michael Phelps alleged girlfriend thing going on, our local radio station keep saying she was born a man. My friend called, got on the air, and explained what intersex is and what transgender is and how it is assigned gender at birth, not born. And he poined out that today was Trans Day of Remembrance. And the hosts APOLOGIZED and corrected themselves. I was cheering in my car on the way to work. Whoop whoop!

Good! The way the media are dealing with this (and turning it into a circus) is disgusting.

(1) hey, people should seriously stay off /b/. things have been getting worse on it in the past 20 minutes because of people posting on it. As enraging as it is, /b/ is a fast board where posts disappear really quickly. Trying to teach them about feminism isn't going to do anything but clutter the board and spread information about the on-going raid. The less you post on /b/, the faster it'll be finished, since some posts get to the last page in barely a few minutes, especially in summer.

(2) i’m not trying to excuse this, but posting on 4chan right now is just hurting people on tumblr who might be triggered by the stuff they might post in the tags. It’s cool if you’re not sensible to it but not everyone might know about the raid and continuing to rile /b/ up is not helping anyone right now (also, with too much attention, it might spread to the other boards, and that’s really not smthg we want. )

Basically, just signal boost what’s going on to warn people out of the tags and ignore it. Attempting any retaliation will just drag it out.

If you're a Feminist, why do you still watch AH? Their videos are dominated by men, with only one female appearing regularly, and when she does she is abused by her misogynistic husband and his coworkers. Also, not a single POC employed.

Lindsay isn’t abused by Michael, go fuck yourself. Also, even if you’re just talking about AH, Ray is a PoC. And look, whether or not I’m a feminist, feminists can still watch shit with men in it, or with a majority of men in it. Pretty much everything in the world has problematic aspects. It’s about being critical of those problematic things even if you’re a fan.

Adding to the topic of Korean (and other East Asian countries') desire for white skin. It's not in order to live up to Western beauty standards but rather more because of the same reason we once valued whiter skin a couple hundred years ago, farmers/poverty (which is another unrelated issue in itself but still). Whiter skin is valued because it showed you weren't always out working on a farm in the sun, not because they wanna look like us, and it's pretty insulting toward them to assume as much.

It's also important to note that Meg was responding to an autistic fan who was very upset and Meg basically dismissed their feelings with an argument that was the equivalent of "well I have a gay/black/trans friend so I get to decide what's oppressive and what's not". There were several autistic fans who tweeted Meg that they were upset by Gavin's comments and Meg's opinion is not more important than theirs.

If people are looking for an alternative to rt, I'm about to start watching a channel called Spectrum made up of female, trans and nb people. From their profile: Our goal: to start to open the door to proper representation in the gaming industry (and the gameplay community), and create a safe and fun space for the people that are often sorely underrepresented and mistreated in the gaming community.

Thanks for the recommendation! Sounds really cool! spectrumplays
