from las vegas

Not again. #prayforvegas 💔(there are more than 50 deaths, I wrote this piece when the news first broke and at that time only 50 deaths were confirmed, each innocent death has killed a part of world’s hope #NeverForget)

Las Vegas is a real city humans can actually visit and it just baffles and delights me in equal measures

like someone looked at the harsh, inhospitable Mojave Desert and thought “you know what’d go great here? a resort town” and then the government was like “you know what else would go great here? a nuclear test site” and then the tourism industry was like “you know what? we can use this”

Scenes from Las Vegas mass shooting

A gunman perched on the 32nd floor of a Las Vegas casino unleashed a hail of bullets on an outdoor country music festival below, killing at least 50 people as tens of thousands of concertgoers screamed and ran for their lives, officials said Monday. It was the deadliest mass shooting in modern U.S. history.

More than 400 other victims were taken to the hospital, authorities said.

SWAT teams using explosives stormed the gunman’s hotel room and found he had killed himself, authorities said. He had as many as 10 guns with him, including rifles, they said.

There was no immediate word on the motive for the bloodbath.

Sheriff Joseph Lombardo said authorities believe it was a “lone wolf” attack. And the U.S. Homeland Security Department said there was no “specific credible threat” involving other public venues in the U.S.

Country music star Jason Aldean was performing Sunday night at the end of the three-day Route 91 Harvest Festival in front of a crowd of more than 22,000 when the gunman opened fire from inside the Mandalay Bay Hotel and Casino across the street.

The gunman was identified as Stephen Craig Paddock, 64, of Mesquite, Nevada. He had checked into the hotel room on Thursday, authorities said. (AP)

I’ve traveled to a lot of unique places around the Southwest, and I’ve seen plenty of strange things. But believe me when I say that nothing I’ve encountered so far has made me quite so uncomfortable as this creepy hotel in the tiny town of Tonopah, Nevada, 200 miles from Las Vegas.

What a profound mystery. Is it owned and operated by clowns? Is it open only to clowns and clown truckers driving very tiny trailers? What’s the rate for 16 clowns in one room? Why is it located directly next to a graveyard?

  • Usnavi: Good job, Sonny.
  • Sonny: Thanks, dad.
  • *silence*
  • Sonny: ...Why is everyone staring at me?
  • Vanessa: You just called Usnavi 'dad'.
  • Sonny: What? No, I didn't! I said 'Thanks, man'!
  • Usnavi: Do you...see me as a father-figure, Sonny?
  • Sonny: NO! If anything, I see you as a 'bother figure' cause you're always bothering me!
  • Benny: Hey! Show your father some respect!
  • Sonny: I DIDN'T CALL HIM 'DAD'!
  • Usnavi: No, Sonny, I take it as a compliment.
  • Carla: It's not a big deal! I call my girlfriend 'Mommy' sometimes.
  • Sonny: *points to Carla* Guys! Jump on that!
  • Daniela: Old news! You calling Usnavi 'daddy'-
  • Sonny: HEY! 'Daddy' is NOT on the table here!
  • Pete: You still called him 'dad'.
  • Sonny: NO, I DIDN'T!
  • Usnavi: Well, I believe you...
  • Sonny: Thank you!
  • Usnavi: ...Son...
  • *pause*
  • Usnavi: Do you want to talk about it later, over of catch?
  • Sonny: ...I'd like that.

Say hello to some key members of the Las Vegas Aces!
(well. At least…. @abominableobriens version of them! (plus…Parse, Swoops and Chickensfish guy))

This is the visual start of a project (called “Ace-off”) P and I have got going that’ll take the reader from Kent Parson’s rookie year up through…….2016? (”MAYBE 2017, we’ll see”)   P’s working on the written part uhhh probably literally as I’m typing this. Anyway, in order to do it properly, Parse needed a team…so here are some of his teammates!

It’s a big giant (like pretty damn giant I don’t have a word count right now but it’s going to be 7 (or so) parts and it is  h e f t y in the best way) work in progress at the moment but at least the important people have faces!

For more info on these beautiful people:
check out this post (you’ll recognize some names)

although weirdly enough out of all the people i can remember pete interacting with in the show, as far as i can tell, hes only taller than sonny and daniela,, which is weird to think about, he just seems really tall because he literally only stands by tiny tiny sonny

even so! he’s the perfect height,,

the perfect height difference for hugs and forehead kisses,, how lucky we all are
