from brooklyn with love

brooklyn nine nine is really good to us when it comes to friendships, because every character has such unique friendships and bonding scenes with the others but i dont think we talk about rosas and charles friendship enough because damn:

- we start the show with charles being head over heels for rosa, who is clearly not interested

- rosa tells him, very clearly, that she thinks hes sweet and really likes him as a friend but shes not interested in dating him

- it takes charles some time to get over her, but he does!! apologizes for being weird and making her uncomfortable!! and they go on having an incredibly strong and close friendship!!

- at one point charles even takes a bullet for her, which could have led to the whole “just give him a chance” trope but nope b99 doesnt do that bs, they talk it out and they never end up together

- they are so close that charles even helps rosas bf to plan for her birthday because he knows her so well!! she loves it!!

- rosa asks charles to be her bridesmaid because they are so close and she knows charles would love that!! he does!!

- charles plans her the best bachelorette party and rosa absolutely loves it!! she gets so excited she literally lifts charles up from the floor??

- sometimes between working cases they go to have foot massages together?? that was so cute??

- charles helps rosa text her boyfriend?? because shes not that great at pickup lines?? how cute??

- the writers could have easily opted to go with the “less attractive man falls for his way hotter coworker whos not interested but ends up giving him a chance because he is nice (and wont stop pestering her)” trope but instead we got this beautiful beautiful brotp

thank you nine nine

You know what hasn’t been talked about?

The fact that on Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Boyle went from being in love with and obsessing over Rosa to accepting the fact that she didn’t like him that way and remaining a genuine, trustworthy, and caring friend. There wasn’t a focus on being put in the “friend zone” or anything. He just accepted it and moved on appropriately. I love that.

nah okay I’ve been thinking about this and I think I’ve really underestimated how Big it is that b99 s4 established that - amy and jake are now both canonically accepting of the prospect of having CHILDREN - amy would happily wait 15 years for him while he’s in prison - jake encouraged amy to push for a position higher than him that will INEVITABLY change the nature of their relationship because he believed in her and the way it’d benefit her, entirely contrasting how obstinate he initially was about her leaving in s1 - the two of them will be separated AGAIN, and after every time they’ve been separated their relationship has been made notably stronger by it. How much stronger can we go now??? Wedding-ring stronger?? Js like these are important?? Look at this wonderful couple and the example they’re setting

In this special issue of Brooklyn Magazine, we sit down with Steve Rogers, aka Captain America, and James “Bucky” Barnes, aka the Winter Soldier, in these first, EXCLUSIVE interviews since their disappearance following the Sokovia Accords.

My first set of pieces for the @capreversebb, with amazing fic by the talented duo @araniaart and @shipperhipster! They perfectly captured the boy’s personalities in such a unique format, go check out the fic!

I am so interested in romantic stevebucky that develops from a deep platonic life-partnership first. I love stories about Brooklyn pining, and Bucky and Steve mutually stifling their romantic/sexual feelings about each other, but what I love best is Steve and Bucky knowing that they’re family. Steve being unworried about Bucky’s dates because Bucky always comes home to him, so what does it matter, really? Bucky becoming Steve’s next of kin after Steve’s mom dies. Bucky, on the war front, saying he doesn’t have a girl back home, but man, wait until you hear about my spitfire best friend. Bucky watching Steve fall in love with Peggy a little and being happy for him, because he knows that he’s not going to be replaced, and it’s good to see Steve smile like that. Steve and Bucky, platonic life partners.

Then, after tws, imagine Bucky starting to put the pieces together, and he looks at his relationship with Steve and goes, Oh. We were definitely in love. And he tells this to Steve, or maybe he kisses him, he kisses him and Steve is so confused.

“Isn’t this something we used to do?” Bucky asks him.

“No,” Steve says, shell-shocked.

“Oh,” Bucky says. “Sorry.” And then he drops the subject.

Except then Steve starts thinking about it. About him and Bucky, about that kiss, and he thinks, well, why on Earth did Bucky put that together? Because he hasn’t–he’s never–it wasn’t ever like that. Not really. But now he’s watching the curve of Bucky’s jaw, illuminated by the sunlight coming through the window, Bucky’s metal hand glinting where it rests on the kitchen counter, and he can’t stop watching. And maybe it takes a while–with Steve it usually takes a while–but eventually Bucky will laugh, tipping his head back with the force of it. Bucky will laugh and Steve will feel his heart constrict in his chest, and he’ll think, well, maybe I wasn’t in love with him then but I sure as hell am now.

So next time Bucky’s close enough to him, Steve will put his hands on either side of Bucky’s face and kiss him, saying, “Buck, you’re my family, you’ve always been my family. But you can have this too if you want it.”

Bucky just looks at him with fond exasperation, mutters “Don’t know how I kept my hands off you for all those years,” and loops an arm around Steve’s waist to pull him closer.

Tony throws a 1940s themed party, which Steve does not handle it well. His girlfriend is thankfully there to calm his insecurities.

Tony Stark had a talent for throwing grand parties for no reason, and tonight was the perfect night for one. Tony decided to make it a 1940s theme, ignoring protests from Steve and Bucky.  This naturally ensued an argument and Steve agreeing just to shut Tony up after his constant threats and child like hissy fits.

Steve looked out at the city as he tied his black tie, trying to escape bad memories and the insecurities he felt before the serum. A soft knock got the attention of the captain, trying to distract himself. He turned around and saw his girlfriend standing in the doorway. “What do you think? I looked at photos for hours,” she laughed twirling in her velvet black top, with deep v cuts in the front and back, and a white tulle bottom. Steve smiled softly and walked up to her.
