frog princess

Downtown Disney just put up some more concept art for the expansion.

The artists tend to (not so) secretly use their favorite characters in place of generic random guests when they have the chance.

This particular artist really loves The Princess and the Frog, young Tiana and her family show up a lot.

I have no idea why it took me this long to realize Anna and Elsa have not been added to the Princess franchise because Disney hopes to make twice as much money keeping them separate.

And yet look at this:

WHERE THE FLYING FUCK IS TIANA. Anna and Elsa, who already have their own fruit snack box and don’t need to be here at all, and even RAPUNZEL are here, but no Tiana. What bullshit. And I couldn’t help but notice as the only POC here, Jasmine is on the bottom.

Mulan and Pocahontas already get the shortest end of the deal, and since they’re not based on fairy tales, I hardly expect Disney to treat them any better. Unfortunately. And Merida being excluded sorta makes sense as she’s the only Pixar Princess. But it is utter bull when Tiana gets excluded at the cost of Rapunzel and Frozen.

While I really enjoyed Frozen, I don’t find it progressive. When you compare it to Princess and the Frog or even Snow White, Frozen really isn’t all that new or revolutionary. I don’t really think it ‘changed the game’ as people put. I also don’t find it feminist. I just see it as a simple, fun movie

  • what she says:i'm fine
  • what she means:why are there people who don't consider tiana a disney princess?? i understand the debate over whether or not pocahontas and mulan are princesses since they're in the lineup but not technically royalty, but at the end of the movie she marries a prince and they say out loud at least three times that she's a princess. belle was never seen actually marrying the beast but she's still considered a princess. is racism a factor? is it just that some people only consider the princesses from snow white to mulan as real disney princesses? those movies were all new at some point too; why does it matter when they came out? you could say it's because the movie didn't do as well at the box office as tangled or frozen, but it was still considerably successful. also why do people say tangled started the disney revival when patf was the one that rekindled the public's interest in disney like the little mermaid did in 1989? tiana deserves so much better than this.

#LOVEWINS

The one’s who have always taught us to be ourselves, and that love will prevail. I can’t think of anyone else who captures the particular sense of joy I felt today.

What an awesome day. A giant step for equality and it’s about time.
