Lunch 5/17/2015: Lardo, 1212 SE Hawthorne Boulevard, Portland, OR
Me: Egg Rickmuffin.
The husband: Double burger.
Shared: Lardo fries.
The husband just completed his first half marathon that morning. Naturally, he was starving, and we figured a restaurant named after pig fatback would fill him up real good.
Of course, he went for the monstrous double burger with porkstrami (yes, that’s a word), cheddar and Lardo sauce (a concoction of mayo, Dijon, and dill pickle relish). It tasted as amazing as it sounds. Messy, but worth it. They know how to work magic with their meats. The Lardo fries were seasoned with fried herbs and Parmesan.
I, on the other hand, did not do any running, so I took it easy and got one of their smaller breakfast sandwiches: a toasted English muffin hugging thick chunks of Canadian bacon, American cheese and a fried egg. Came with a hash brown so crisp, it must have hit that deep fryer at least three or four times.
