“My friend, you had horses, and deed of arms, and the free fields; but she, being born in the body of a maid, had a spirit and courage at least the match of yours. Yet she was doomed to wait upon an old man, whom she loved as a father, and watch him falling into a mean dishonoured dotage; and her part seemed to her more ignoble than that of the staff he leaned on.”

No jealousy or rivalry had arisen between them since, for their father’s favour or for the praise of men.”

This is it. -This is what? The last episode Amy Keating Rogers wrote for MLP.
I’m going to be a little melodramatic here, but yes I’m going to miss her. This wonderful lady wrote some of my favorite episodes for this show and now she will leave us for Disney. Which is awesome, because obviously they’ve seen her talent and she deserves it! However I’m going to be a little sad for us, fans of technicolor-ed horses. It’s very likely she won’t get to see this post, but it doesn’t stop me from making a tribute for her ;)
Marlana AU: Margot and Alana have been married for a while and wants children. They keep the idea from Mason because they know he will not be happy about their decison. He finds out anyway and takes away Margot’s chance of carrying a child. Alana seeks help from an old friend to avenge Mason’s deeds and gain a child at the same time.
I’d like to talk about a thing, and then I’ll be done.
Cisco Ramon is a funny, sweet, dorky cinnamon roll who builds things and references movies and has an occasionally inappropriate sense of humor but loves his friends and does good deeds.
Cisco Ramon also has a fucking temper, and a dark side. It’s canon. It’s so, so canon, and it gets ignored so people can coo over the cinnamon roll in him, and I do that myself from time to time so I get it. But it’s worth exploring.
Cisco built a weaponized device to stop Barry if Barry went bad, even though Barry’s the one who talked them into helping him fight bad metas to begin with. Cisco turned Hartley Rathaway’s hearing aids into torture devices to use against him, and straight up street-fought his ass when Hartley tried to get away. Cisco’s thoughts run right to ‘how can I completely incapacitate this person when they turn on me?’ whether it’s a friend or foe he’s dealing with. He is not an optimist. He’s a pragmatist. He likes to look on the bright side, yes, I think when he can consciously choose it he tries to be an optimist. He likes having faith in people. But it’s not how his mind automatically works.
Cisco has shown again and again little bursts of darkness that he usually stifles. There’s this moment I love in the first Cold episode, when Wells finds out the gun is missing. Cisco’s in mid-sentence and Wells slams the locker gate shut in his face, and Cisco is pissed. Seriously. Watch his face. He’s denied his explanation, Wells is ticked off, and Cisco gets pissed right back.
Cisco’s line, “I’m sorry. If you would just let me explain…” starts off basically spoken through his teeth. That’s the angriest apology ever. But even in mid-sentence that part gets pushed down and he genuinely wants to explain. He wants his hero and mentor to not be mad anymore. He stifles that temper. But it’s there.
This is a guy from a family that neglects, ignores and belittles him despite being loving toward each other. He faced bullies in school, at work. He has gotten the best of them in the end, because he’s doing what he dreamed of despite them. But he’s faced abuse and mockery and scorn all his frigging life.
It’s worth noting that the two canon characters who bring anger out in him the most visibly - Hartley Rathaway and Harry Wells - are snide and belittling 95% of the time. They are bullies. They represent a lifetime of bullshit. Hartley lorded his position over Cisco and did his best from the moment they met to stamp down on his personality, appearance, intelligence, all of it. Harry demeans Cisco when it suits his mood, uses his skills when that’s more useful, forces and demands and bullies responses out of him, invades his personal space in an otherwise huge and mostly-unused lab. He laughs in his face when Cisco talks about his own death, then recreates the moment of his murder to activate powers that Cisco doesn’t want to use.
So. Yes. Cisco is being harsh when he jokes about how putting a bullet in Harry makes Patty team material. Big deal. It’s not his first inappropriate joke. If he makes a bad joke but continues working side by side with Harry, good for him.
He’s angry, and he’s got a history that explains that anger. Getting it out a little bit is healthy, and god knows good people have done far worse things on this show before.
