fried chicken with spicy tomato sauce

Opposites

Request from Anonymous: Hello i’ve seen that there’s only a few loco scenarios and recently i can’t get enough of his cuteness oh damn. So can i request a scenario where you and loco’s taste on things and flavors are so contrast that you always bicker with one another outdoors but at home both of you are so adorably dork

Lo. Co. Lo. Co. Lo. Co. Lemme see that body gaga ;) anyway i hope you enjoy this short scenario xx

“Can I please get one scoop of the cookies and cream and umm one scoop of the double choc chip. Oh and in a cup please.”

You gave the cashier the money and took your ice-cream. Loco and yourself were meeting up with Gray and Simon D for lunch but they haven’t turned up yet so you went and got ice-cream first.

“Ice-cream before lunch? You’re a funny one,” Loco teased you. You stuck your tongue out at him. “Let me eat in peace, babe. Want some?” You put a spoonful of the double choc chip in front of his mouth.

“Nah. I don’t like that flavour, it’s too sweet,” he said as he moved his head away from your offer.

“Hey love birds,” Simon called out. He and Gray had finally arrived. “Sorry, we’re late. Jay wouldn’t shut up about his dogs.”

“His dogs are adorable. Don’t blame him,” you beckoned back at Simon.

“What are you guys doing?” Gray asked as he sat down opposite you.

“Loco doesn’t like my taste in ice-cream. He thinks ice-cream is too sweet.”

“It is but I still eat ice-cream. Just not those favours you have in that cup,” Loco pointed to your ice-cream.

“Right. Because you like them weird flavours. Who likes mint choc chip? Seriously. It’s like eating toothpaste with chocolate. Ugh.”

Loco was about to make another comment when Simon stopped him.

“Ahh you two are so annoying when you talk about food. Why can’t you just accept that each of you have different taste buds. Now can we order lunch. I’m starving.”

“Mmm this caesar salad looks good. Guys wait! Let me take a photo of our lunch first,” You took out your phone and started taking different angles of the food. Gray also took out his phone and started to Snapchat.

“Are you done, [Y/N]? I’m want to eat my food,” Simon whined.

“Ok, I’m done. You now may eat, boys.”

You ordered a chicken burger with a side of fries and Loco ordered a beef burger and also a side of fries. You like to dip your fries in tomato sauce so you reached for the sauce and squirted it on the empty side of your plate. Loco saw what you did and he scoffed.

“What?” you asked him.

“Fries don’t need extra flavour, babe. And if you were to dip fries into a sauce it should be a spicy mayo.”

Both Gray and Simon looked at each other and sighed.

“I like it with tomato sauce so can you just shut up. Let me eat what I like.”

“It’s not right.”

“I wouldn’t be talking for someone who likes to eat steam vegetables with just salt sprinkle on top. Ugh.”

“Hey! You said they were nice when I made them the other night.”

“Well…. I didn’t want to hurt your feelings.”

Loco moved his plated further away from yours.

“Aw babe, I’m sorry. Here, have some of my drink. It’s a lemon iced tea.”

Loco turned to you in disgust.

“Iced tea with burgers. Ugh. Babe, you know my favourite drink is vanilla milkshake.”

“I think this is the last time we go out to lunch with the both of you,” Simon said. “Gray and I can’t even eat in peace.”

“Seriously, I wonder how the two of you act at home. I’d imagined you two constantly bickering about every little thing.” Gray said as he took a bite of his burger.

//

“Hey look babe. I have a beard and a monobrow,” you poked your head out of the bathroom and showed Loco your foam beard and monobrow that you made from your foam cleanser. “Do you still find me attractive?”

Loco let out a big smile. “More than ever.”

Loco was gathering the dirty dishes when he heard you call him from the bathroom.

“Babe!” you yelled out. “I need help…”

Loco immediately set down the dirty dishes and went to see you.

“What is it?”

He saw that your head was bent down in the sink.

“The cleanser went into my eyes and it is stinging my eyes. Can you get me my face towel? I can’t open my eyes.”

Loco laughed at you.

“It’s right next to you, babe,” he said as he took you hand and guided it to the towel. It was literally right next to the sink.

Once you dried your face you noticed your eyes were red. Loco was still standing there and he was smiling at you.

“You look like you took drugs.”

“Your love is my drug.”

“Oh god, that was so cheesy. Don’t make me throw up dinner.”

You raise your hand to smack Loco across the chest but his reflex was faster than yours. He stopped your smack and leaned in to give a kiss on the lips.

“Gray was dead wrong thinking we would bicker when we’re home,” you said.

//

“What do you want to do now? I don’t have any work to do.” Loco asked you as he finished washing the dishes.

“I’m about to watch this week’s ep of Game of Thrones. Come join me,” you replied from the living room.

“Nooo, I don’t want watch tv. Can we do something else?” he asked as he sat down next to you.

“Fine, I can watch this tomorrow night then. Wanna play some board games?”

“Hmm, let’s play Snap. It’s more fun.”

“Snap? I haven’t played that in a long time. Do you even have a deck of cards?”

Loco stood up and went to look in the drawers.

“I should…Ah, here it is!”

“Okay, best of three? The winner gets to slap the loser.”

First round: You won.

Second round: Loco won.

Final round: You won.

“Yes!! Now.. where should I slap you?”

“Not my hands. It’s all red now, thanks to you. If it is still red tomorrow morning, the boys are going to make fun of me. Especially Jay.”

You smiled at him and wondered where to slap him. His face? His arms? His butt?

But you thought you’d do something different. You didn’t slap him but you pinched his cheeks instead.

im planning to go to korea soon and was wondering if you have any suggestions on some korean cuisine i should try. btw i love your blog ^^~~

okay kiddo, this is going to be a long, long list that probably doesn’t even suffice the delicious and infinite amount of food korea has to offer, but here i go…

if you want to taste some popular “traditional” cuisine:

  • 비빔밥 (bibimpap, rice mixed with veggies and red pepper paste)
  • 냉면/비빔면 (naengmyeon, cold noodles in broth/bibimmyeon, cold noodles mixed with red pepper paste)
  • 순두부 (soondubu, spicy soft tofu soup with veggies)
  • 부대찌개 (budae jjigae or “army stew”, a mix of sausages, spam, cheese, ramen, rice cakes in spicy broth)
  • 된장찌개 (doenjang jjigae, fermented soybean paste stew with tofu, potatoes, and a variety of veggies)
  • 삼겹살 (samgyupsal, grilled pork belly)
  • 갈비 (galbi, basically korean bbq)
  • 불고기 (bulgogi, grilled marinated beef)
  • 간장게장/양념게장 (ganjang gejang, raw crab marinated in soy sauce/yangnyeom gejang, raw crab marinated in spices)
  • 삼계탕 (samgyetang, whole chicken soup with ginseng and other heathy nutrients)
  • 매운탕 (maewoontag, spicy fish soup with veggies)
  • 감자탕 (gamjatang, pork bone soup with a whole lot of potatoes and veggies)
  • 콩국수 (kongguksu, cold noodles in a soy milk broth)
  • 칼국수/수재비 (kalguksu, noodles in broth/soojaebi, dough flakes in broth)
  • 떡국/만두국 (ddukguk, rice cakes in broth/manduguk, rice cakes plus dumplings in broth)
  • 잡채 (japchae, stir-fried noodles with veggies and meat)
  • 보쌈 (bossam, boiled pork belly)
  • 족발 (jokbal, braised pig’s feet)
  • 도토리묵 (dotorimuk, acorn jelly seasoned with spices and usually mixed with veggies)
  • 낙지볶음 (nakji bokkeum, stir-fried octopus with veggies)

if you’re into more quick, on-the-go snacks like street food:

  • 김밥 (kimbap, rice rolls)
  • 떡볶이/떡꼬치 (ddukbokki, spicy rice cakes/ddukkochi, spicy rice cake skewers)
  • 파전 (pajeon, green onion pancakes with seafood, veggies, etc.)
  • 빙수 (bingsu, shaved ice with red beans, fruits, cereal, pretty much any kind of topping possible!)
  • 오뎅국 (odaeng, fish cakes in broth)
  • 튀김 (twigim, fried veggies, shrimp, noodles in laver, etc.)
  • 핫바 (hot bar, fish cake bars)
  • 호떡 (hotteok, pancake usually filled with cinnamon, brown sugar, and nuts)
  • 붕어빵 (bungeobbang, fish shaped bread with red bean filling)
  • 토스트 (toast)
  • 닭꼬치 (dakkochi, marinated chicken skewers)
  • 감자도그 (gamja dog, a corn dog covered in french fries)
  • 뻥튀기 (ppeongtwigi, puffed rice snacks)
  • 계란빵 (gyeran bbang, egg bread)
  • 뽑기 (bbopgi, a melted sugar and baking soda sweet)
  • 회오리 감자/감자 스틱/고구마 스틱 (hwoeli gamja, potato twister on a stick/gamja stick, fried potato sticks/goguma stick, fried sweet potato sticks)

and places i ate at/ordered from (delivery) this summer that i recommend:

  • 페리카나 (pelicana, seriously one of the best fried chicken delivery shops!!! their spicy sweet marinated chicken is amazing ;^;)
  • 오븐에 빠진 닭 (oppadak, a healthier option to fried chicken since their chicken is oven-baked!!! and the dipping sauces are A+)
  • 피자에땅 (pizza etang, i ordered both their box sets which come with a small pizza, ddukbokki, spaghetti, potato wedges, and chicken tenders for only 19,900 won!!!!)
  • cafe mama’s (they sell the most delicious paninis oh my god… i recommend the mozzarella tomato and the honey camembert cheese *v*)
  • ashley’s (a cheaper alternative to buffets with a salad bar and a variety of main dishes, appetizers, desserts, etc.)
  • caffe bene (the shaved ice is very good here and so are their summer drinks!)
  • a twosome place (the yogurt berry bingsu and tiramisu bingsu are both so perfect~)
  • primo bacio baci (their cream pasta in a bread bowl is absolutely scrumptious bc it’s not too heavy or greasy *u*)
  • 반가 (vanga, i always get their garlic tonkatsu bc it’s just soooo good and filling for the low cost!)
  • 조스 (jaw’s, their ddukbokki is very spicy so if you can’t handle the heat, then i am very sorry bc it’s the best ddukbokki you will ever eat :<)
  • lotteria (get the shrimp burger!!!! i also recommend their squid burger if you want to try something spicier~)
  • mc donald’s (okay this may sound dumb, but korea’s mc donald’s taste ten times better than the ones in the states. get the mcspicy shanghai burger or the mcspicy cajun burger and you will understand.)
  • gs25 (this also may sound dumb, but if you’ve never tried a tonkatsu sandwich, then go into any convenience store like a gs25, 7/11, mini stop, etc. and buy yourself one!!!! it’s only 2,000 won!!!!!)

yeah… that’s it for now…. korea is great.

On the weekend, the 6 2PM guys go out to eat NY gourmet burgers.

In their 5th year of debuting in Japan, 2PM will be releasing their 10th single on October 21.
The 6 of them together arrived in Jiyugaoka for the first time. The gourmet burgers in question are from “BAREBURGER,” which has made its first landing from NY, and they had a day off while holding a gourmet burger in one hand.

I’ve been trying some new things the kitchen this summer. This recipe was my second favorite besides the Hawaiian steak I made a few weeks back.

This is “Brazilian” chicken w/ a coconut milk sauce over basmati rice & fried plantains. Very spicy and had a lot of South American flavors. YUM :)

Ingredients

  • Cumin
  • Turmeric
  • Coriander
  • Cayenne pepper
  • 2 - 3 chopped tomatoes
  • 1 chopped jalapeno pepper
  • ¾ chopped onion
  • 1 tsp of minced garlic
  • 1 tbsp of minced fresh ginger
  • Olive oil
  • 1 14 oz can of coconut milk
  • Salt & pepper
  • And of course your 4 boneless chicken breasts
  • Parsley or basil (your preference)

I don’t usually use measurements to cook unless I’m baking so those are rough estimates.

Mixed about 1 teaspoon of each of the spices in a bowl and mix them. This will be used as the seasoning for your chicken. Sear it in a pan with olive oil until there’s no more pink inside.

Once you remove those from the pan, use the remain oil for the vegetables. Cook until soft. Add coconut milk and a little flour if you want it to be thicker then boom! Add salt & pepper to taste. Fried plantains optional

This was a recipe I found online. I would use LESS coconut milk next or try to find a different sauce base. It was almost too creamy. The spice was definitely needed. The plantains on the side helped by offering a little sweetness so I most definitely recommend those.

Sunday, sunday, SUNDAY ……. Let’s review.

This week I made Jacques Pepin’s Orzo with Arugula Sauce which was delicious, Cook’s Illustrated’s Stir Fried Broccoli with Oyster Sauce, I eat a lot of broccoli and this is a great simple recipe for my repertoire, Gordon Ramsey’s Spicy Pancakes, good but needs A LOT more spice, a yummy Chicken Salad Sandwich for lunch, a Pizza on a Whole wheat crust topped with a dollop of tomato sauce, sautéed onions, mushrooms, red peppers, jalapenos, olives, roasted broccoli, leftover rib eye, fresh mozzarella, parmesan and age cheddar, a great use of leftovers,  and finally for breakfast yesterday Scrambled Eggs, Salmon, crème fresh and chopped scallions , one of my favorites.

Another good week despite the sub zero temp.

Off to enjoy a lazy Sunday with the dog and make a few plans for next weeks making.

What will you be making?

Hey, lovely blog! Could you tell us about some German fast food?

Thanks. Actual “fast food” in Germany circles around American chains like McDonald’s, Burger King, Pizza Hut, Subway… and they’re not doing so well lately. (Read this.) More local “Imbiss” quick snack options include Currywurst (spicy sausage with tomato/curry sauce), Bratwurst (grilled sausage with mustard), Pommes (fries with mayo/ketchup), Pizza (by the slice, from small stands in downtown areas), Belegte Brötchen (assorted rolls or baguette sandwiches topped with cheese/meat/veg),  Fischbrötchen (assorted seafood rolls with salmon, shrimp, fish), Halbes Hähnchen (half a rotisserie chicken), Schnitzel (deep-fried escalope of pork, veal or chicken similar to Japanese Katsu or Italian Milanese), Kartoffelpuffer (fried potato pancakes similar to American hash browns), Hot Dogs (German-style with roast onions, ketchup, mustard, cucumber), Brezeln (fresh large soft pretzels), Döner Kebab (Turkish-style pita bread filled with meat and veg), Giros Pita (Greek pork version of Döner), and for sweet stuff, there’s a lot of icecream/gelato on the go, along with bakery items like chocolate croissants or pastries.

Below: Number of “Fast Food” chain outlets in Germany (2011, most German fast food/street food is NOT from a chain), and the most popular fast food items (2012).

I’ve posted about most of these foods. The general German food tag is here.
