New York. Sterling Place and 7th Avenue, Friday, December 16, 1960.
A DC-8 and a Super Constellation collided over Staten Island, the Connie disintegrating and falling onto Miller FIeld, Staten Island. The Jet, presumably attempting an emergency landing at Laguardia, only made it as far as Park Slope. It was the worst air disaster until 1969, and a key motivation for the development of the air traffic control system we use today.
Têtes Noires was the first all-female rock band from Minneapolis, Minnesota, best known for their “casually mocking” feminist lyrics and for three- and sometimes up to six-part vocal harmonies. Founded by former Miss South Dakota Jennifer Holt, they gave concerts from 1983 until about 1987, and recorded three albums which received positive reviews nationally. As Susan Borey wrote for Spin, the name means “black heads” in French, which they used to describe their hair color (like birds and not a complexion problem).
“Monsters In The Closet” lyric book by Mayday Parade. How adorable is the bottom thank you paragraph?
“We’d also like to thank the following bands for being great at what they do and amazing friends to each of us: Pierce The Veil, All Time Low, You Me At Six, We The Kings, Stages and Stereos, Every Avenue, Artist Vs. Poet, Cartel, With The Punches, Divided By Friday, William Beckett, The Maine, A Rocket To The Moon, and We Are The Ocean.”
Last week, I asked y’all to make sure you keep lilies away from your cats. (That’s still super important; it’s back here if you don’t already know about it.)
This week, I wanted to encourage you to look at overlooked adoption avenues. On Friday, we adopted the ridiculous little nerd above from our local Animal Control. We named him Judah.
I don’t want to be asking mostlycatsmostly to post another wall-o’-text post, but if you want to know what I’m talking about with “overlooked adoption avenues” and why, I put it up over here (warning: more photos of Judah at the link.)
Thank you, everybody, for spreading the word about lilies. It made losing Sariah a little bit easier to deal with, knowing that at least what he went through might help someone else’s kitties. <3
Oh my god…where do I even begin. I mean…Zayn is…Zayn is…
Zayn is a beautiful human being. I’m not just talking about his physical
features, beautiful at heart as well. There’s so many things I want to
say and let out right now and I can’t find the way to do it so I’ll just
say whatever comes to mind.
Zayn has been
through everything with One Direction. Everything that happened since
July 23, 2010, he’s been there. It started out as One Direction just
being a part of his life, then it turned into One Direction becoming his
life. This band was the best thing to ever happen to him and I’m glad
he was in it. It wasn’t only a great experience for him, but for us as
well. We got the chance to get a taste of what Zayn was, and is, and
that’s better than not knowing who he was or the talents he had at all.
Zayn was and is so important and prominent in the band and I understand
that he’s leaving so he could work on himself better, but that doesn’t
mean it doesn’t hurt.
To know that we’ll
have to see One Direction with one less band member is truly heart
breaking, but we’ll have to deal with it. To know that he won’t be there
with them at concerts, award shows, or just simple vacations is heart
breaking. To know that we won’t ever hear his voice on anymore One
Direction songs is…is…there isn’t even a word to describe how
hurtful and depressing that is.
know what…honestly…I feel like One Direction shouldn’t even be
called One Direction anymore. We’ve grown with them knowing that One
Direction has five band members. Louis Tomlinson, Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Liam Payne, and Zayn Malik.
Without the fifth band member, it would just feel wrong calling them
One Direction. I feel like they should get a new name for their new
four-piece band. Like…uhm…Fourth Avenue or Friday Knights or maybe
even Safe Haven. Idk, I’m not good with names. But just something, you know?
think what really disgusts me is that we all know that at least one of
the reasons he’s leaving is because he’s exhausted. Not physically
exhausted, but mentally exhausted. He’s tired of all the drama and the
bullshit that comes with being famous. People are assholes. The fact
that he had to choose between living his dream and being truly happy is
disgusting and ridiculous. I know, and I think we all know, that Zayn
had to be thinking of this decision for a long time now. I mean, nobody
makes a decision this big without taking at least month or so to think
it out. I can’t even imagine how long he’s been feeling this way.
know that Zayn won’t be there anymore to make more unforgettable
memories with One Direction is heart wrenching. If they make another
movie, he won’t be in it and that’s just…this is all just so much to
process. It keeps hitting me that he won’t be there anymore and nothing
will ever be the same again. Its just too hard…but I hope he finds the happiness he’s looking for and so rightfully deserves.
We love you, Zayn. You’ll be missed and you’ll always be in our hearts forever. I promise to never forget about you.
