Hallo und schönen guten Tag!

Whether you’re learning German or English as a school requirement, studying at university, preparing to work/study abroad or self-teaching, I’m here to help! I have lots of time, language learning resources and experience with self-teaching languages, and am always looking for new students.

About me: I’m a 23-year-old native English speaker with a B.A. and native speaker-level proficiency in German (self-taught), but if you’d like to hear more about my experience and qualifications I’d recommend checking out the short, somewhat comedic tutoring trailer posted above. My interests include language learning, linguistics, reading/autodidactic studies, music, psychology and travel.

Availability: I’m a night owl and my schedule is very flexible; I have no problem tutoring at regular daytime hours or between the hours of 10 pm and 6 am my time

  • Whatever you think is relevant

I look forward to tutoring with you!

Hey everyone!

As a lot of you know, I came out to my parents a few weeks ago. They haven’t explicitly told me I can’t come home this summer, but I really don’t feel comfortable living with them for that long, especially now that they know. However, since my job ends with the school year, I have to buy groceries still - so, I’m offering my services as an editor/writer!

Editing (up to 10,000 words)

  1. Grammar Editing

For grammar only, such as syntax, spelling, etc., it’s half a cent per word.

  • 1,000 words = $5
  • 2,000 words = $10
  • 5,000 words = $25

I’ve reopened my freelance novel critique service!

I have room for 3-4 clients. Here’s how it works.

You send me your COMPLETED (if rough) fantasy/science fiction manuscript. I’ll read it, mark it up, and write a brief edit letter, helping you to think about what’s working and what’s not. While I’ll inevitably discuss your prose/style, this not a copyedit, but a broader consideration of the story you’re trying to tell — and advice on how to tell it more powerfully. I’ll return your manuscript within 4-8 weeks with comments aplenty in the margins, and a detailed edit letter addressing issues of plot, character, style, and setting.

Why hire me? I hold an MFA in Creative Writing and an MA in English, and I’ve taught creative writing courses at colleges and universities for ten years. My first novel, THRONE OF THE CRESCENT MOON, praised by George RR Martin and NPR, was a finalist for the Hugo, Nebula, Crawford, Gemmell, and British Fantasy Awards, won the Locus Award for Best First Novel, and received starred reviews from Publishers Weekly, Kirkus, and Library Journal. My short stories have been nominated for the Nebula and Campbell awards, have been reprinted in numerous anthologies, including THE YEAR’S BEST SCIENCE FICTION, and have been translated into a half-dozen languages.

My critique packages thus combine the pragmatic insights of a working writer who is navigating the market right now with the careful, constructive attention of an experienced teacher who has had hundreds of students.

For manuscripts ranging from 50-120K words, critiques are priced at $1000. A $500 deposit reserves your slot. The other $500 is paid upon return of the manuscript. Turnaround time is 4-8 weeks. Payment is done via paypal, to, and Word is my preferred format, but I can work with others.

Invest in your writing! To reserve a slot or ask a question, write me at
