free stream on youtube

you: man, why aren’t there any out lgbt professional hockey players? wouldn’t that be so cool? also, watching nhl games on tv costs so much money! i can’t afford to buy an expensive cable plan, but i don’t want to watch games illegally… and gosh, the nhl really sucks in terms of racial diversity…. everyone is so white… i wish there was a way i could enjoy hockey without having to deal with all the problematic issues associated with the nhl…

me, an intellectual:

Now that I’ve used memes to get your attention….

1. The NWHL is super gay!!! The NWHL is partnered with You Can Play, Kourtney Kunichika has a fiancée, and Harrison Browne is the first transgender athlete to play in a professional American sports league! And that’s not even all of them!!

2. Every nwhl game is streamed online completely free! no costs!!! legally!!! the NWHL youtube channel live streams all the games!!

3. Blake Bolden and Kaliya Johnson are both African-American women playing in the NWHL. There are also several Asian-Americans (Kourtney Kunichika included) and the top draft pick from the 2016 draft was a woman of color named Kelsey Koelzer.

4. All the players just genuinely seem nice??? Like they’re supportive and kind with each other all the time! They have meals together! They’re good friends! They bake each other cookies and give them to each other in Bath and Body Works bags with handwritten notes!

tl;dr: the national women’s hockey league does not get enough attention from tumblr and frankly i think that needs to change

For those who are stressed by the American election or just stressed out by life in general, like me (a youtube video list):

Feel free to add your own links/ suggestions to the list.

Do you want to see women’s hockey on TV?

The more viewers the NWHL and CWHL have on their streamed games, the closer we get to seeing women’s hockey on television. Both leagues are streaming their games for free on YouTube this season and the stream qualities are great!

Before the Flood by Leonardo DiCaprio

Last night, I watched Leonardo DiCaprio’s new climate documentary, “Before the Flood,” on the National Geographic channel on cable. If you haven’t seen it yet, I encourage you to do so. It will show a few more times this week on the National Geographic channel. It is also available for free streaming on numerous platforms such as YouTube, Facebook, iTunes, Apple TV, Amazon, Hulu and Google Play. If you visit the website, you’ll learn of other platforms.

Nothing in the movie was new to me. I’ve been studying climate change and environmental matters for several years, and if you’ve been following my posts on Tumblr, probably 50% of my posts pertain to climate change. (Sometimes I feel like an officious nagger by posting so much information.) But if you have a basic understanding of climate change and hope to learn more, then this movie will satisfy you. Encourage your friends, co-workers and relatives to watch it, particularly if they are “climate change deniers,” or just don’t care. It would also help if you or they watch it before the election.

I was completely immersed in the movie for its duration. It was also a brutal, difficult watch, made more so because I’m aware of the numerous issues. I was blown away by seeing climate change in action, hurting people and animals, accompanied by narration, interviews, and personal comments by Leonardo DiCaprio as he visited various spots on Earth, and the background music by Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross. At the end, with Trent Reznor’s song, “A Minute To Breathe,” playing along with the credits, I was spent.

Here’s the trailer for the movie and the video for the song, “A Minute To Breathe.” I’ve posted both of them before, but watching these again (or for the first time) might encourage you to watch it.

How do I even get into rl hockey like I want to but it all seems so daunting

Oh boy… Well I didnt follow hockey for a lo g time but I picked my team based on what my dad followed (Calgary Flames), but being Canadian I just ingrained the rules. I’d say just pick your local team and watch some games (reddit nhl streams) and just learn the game. From there you can pick some teams you like. Also, watch the NWHL! I found it much easier to follow and it streams free on YouTube!!! And if you have questions, ask me or some hockey-centric blogs. And have fun! This sport is ridiculous and not for everyone!

shoutout to ted barton, the commentator on the ISU junior grand prix streams, who watches juniors for literally hours on end every week, comes up with nice comments for every single one of them, never talks during the programs and gives useful technical insights during replays

you are the hero ISU needs but doesn’t deserve

The album is amazing but I can't help but feel like Barcelona and New Man should've been switched around in the album. The same with Save Myself and How Would You Feel. Idk I think those songs were better and would've made the album an even stronger whole piece. It obviously doesn't matter, really, but what do you think?

I agree with you that Barcelona is a better song than New Man and Save Myself is a better song than How Would You Feel. But as far as switching them around… honestly, I’m not sure it would make much of a difference in terms of the strength of the album as a whole, unless we’re only talking about the 12-track version and replacing two weaker songs with two stronger songs. But I feel like significantly more people will buy the deluxe version of the album rather than the 12-track version, and if you’re streaming for free on spotify or listening on youtube, there’s no delineation between the two versions anyway, so most people who listen to the album are going to hear all the songs. And if all the songs are being listened to, I think the album is as strong as it can get the way it is already. I also like the order that they’re in. I do feel like Divide could have stood without How Would You Feel on it at all, or with it at almost any other slot within the 16, but I think that putting Save Myself as the last track was a smart move because then the whole work is sort of bookended by Eraser and Save Myself, and I feel like those two songs work really well as the beginning and end to a complete story. Save Myself feels to me like the sequel to Eraser.

But if we’re just dealing with 12 tracks, and we’ve decided to remove How Would You Feel, I wouldn’t replace it with Save Myself; I would scoot everything forward one slot and then put Save Myself as track 12. Does that make sense? I feel like it needs to be last. But I also feel like Supermarket Flowers shouldn’t lead into Save Myself because that’s a double emotional whammy, so I think I’d do something like move What Do I Know to sit between them. (Actually, if we can only have 12 of the songs, I would take off What Do I Know and put Bibia Be Ye Ye in its place, and that would be the one between Supermarket Flowers and Save Myself.) Oh, and if we’re adding in Barcelona instead of New Man, that would have to go… gosh, I don’t know. Maybe between… well, I would just have to sit with it a while to decide the new order. I do like the order that they’re in on the deluxe version, though.
