SYNTHESIS Update! (Aside from a new logo!)

My current hiatus from social media is bearing fruit! I can now declare Synthesis officially out of development hell after the last good solid year of me and Nick scratching our heads.

Have you met Nick? Nick Johnson, (avid backyard astronomer, lives in Australia,) a friend of mine since the early days of my internet life, has been co-developing Synthesis with me since late 2013. Our near nightly discussions about the story largely go like this:

Me: “Okay so, I’ve been thinking this should happen.”
Nick: “Have you ever thought about this happening, instead?”
Me: “No, that’s not how I want it to go.”
Nick: “well alright, what if—
Me: “Holy crap– no, your idea was perfect. AGH.”

I said I wouldn’t start actually drawing the comic until I was damn sure the story worked and we had a structured plot with developed characters. To give you an idea of where we’ve been with that up ‘till a couple months ago: we’ve flip-flopped on the setting and entire base foundation for the story about 3 times. What we have now, though, is starting to flourish and expand in ways we’re really liking. Solid story development in Acts I, II, and III! New characters! A super-established setting! Cool sci-fi technology!

We really thank all of you who are looking forward to Synthesis and being patient with it/us. The last thing I want to do is spend a lot of time creating something that is not only sub-par to you, but to myself as well. I’m not going to promise that you’ll be seeing the comic launch this year. But if things keep going like they have, there’s very much a possibility it might :)

Stay tuned!
