If i was to have 1 makeup product for the rest of my life, it would be lipstick. They can brighten a face, double as a blush, and wear it in different finishes. A majority of the ones I own are from MAC, because they have the widest range of shades, finishes, and a comfortable price point. As a tan filipina, it is hard to find that perfect pink, red, etc. so hopefully this post can show my readers, what colors may fit skin tones similar to mine, or just need help picking out something new.

Going from top to bottom

MAC Sheen Supreme Lipstick in Bare Again: This is a super moisturizing lipstick, medium pigment, and very creamy. It is a more neutral pinky shade and is nice if i want to mute out my lips, but not completely. However, since it is so shiny and soft, it will melt if kept in heat for a long period of time. Mine is so little, that i have to start digging out any leftover lipstick with a brush. Revlon’s Lip Butter in Pink Truffle is close, but darker than Bare Again

Chanel Rouge Coco Lipstick in Mademoiselle- This is my go to lipstick, it is what i wear to school, to an interview or a meeting, on dates, to coffee, just about anywhere. It is a nice pink with a slight hint of brown. I love how it makes me look more awake and polished. It is a satin lipstick, meaning that there is no shimmer or glitter, just a nice creme with subtle sheen. If you are looking for something similar and don’t want to fork over the heft price tag, MAC’s Cosmo is the closest dupe that i have found.

MAC Girl About Town- This is an amplified creme finish meaning that it has very strong pigment, but more of a sheen than a satin but not crazy shiny like the sheen supreme. It is a blue toned fuchsia that makes my teeth look white. I get about 6+ hour wear with this too! If you aren’t ready to fully commit to a show stopping red, a bright pink or orange may be the next best thing. Want something just as cool, but not crazy? CoverGirl’s lip perfection in Spellbound is awesome or Revlon’s Lip Butter in Lollipop.

Makeup Forever Rouge Artist Intense Lipstick in #43/ Moulin Rouge- My all time favorite red. It is a satin finish which means that it has a little more shine than a matte. It stays on FOREVER, i can get through a whole meal with talking and won’t have to reapply for the entire day. it stains your lips with this really pretty true red stain. True red is different form an orange red, cherry red, or blue toned red. But i will save that for a later post.

Covergirl Tru Shine Lipstick in #475/ Valentine Shine- My first red lipstick that i have ever bought, because i was a Sailor Mars for Halloween. It is a super shiny red that looks good on a variety of skin tones if you want that Marilyn factor. I also like that it is the easiest red to sheer out and wear as a stain.

MAC Ravishing: This is a cremesheen lipstick which means that it is a lipstick that is a little less pigmented than an amplified creme and has a glossy look to it. It wears about 4 hours on me before it start to feel drying. It is a bright peachy orange, with slight golden microshimmers. It is a more friendly version of Vegas Volt, which can be a bit scary for many people, since it is a flat out orange. It is my summer go to shade, and i have ben wearing it around for a majority of the season. It will melt in heat, so you ave to be very careful that you don’t leave it in a car.

Revlon Lip Butter in Tutti Frutti- This is Lynn’s and she forgot to add it in her post. If you like Ravishing, but don’t want to fork over the cash, this is very close but with a bit more orange than peach. Ravishing can feel a little thick on the lips, and Tutti Frutti is a lighter weight lipstick and doesn’t have the microshimmers like the MAC one.

MAC Cherish- This is my favorite nude. It doesn’t look like i died or slapped concealer on my lips. This is a satin, which like the Makeup Forever one has a bit more sheen than a matte. It has no shimmers and leans more towards a darker warmer nude, rather than a light pinky nude, which can turn gray on my lips. It is what i reach for when i wear a smokey eye. Honestly with nudes, it is like searching for the right fit, and you have to keep trying it on until, you feel like it looks the most natural on you.

I really hope this helps anyone looking for the right lipstick shade. Keep in mind that i am tan with a yellow undertone, so i tend to reach for more warm toned lipsticks. I only wear crazy blue based brights if i want my teeth to look white. But if i had to recommend 1 lipstick shade to keep, it would be MACs Cosmo, it just looks great on everybody.
