But apart from my transformations, I was happier than I had ever been in my life. For the first time ever, I had friends, three great friends. Sirius Black, Peter Pettigrew and, of course, your father, Harry, James Potter. Now, my three friends could hardly fail to notice that I disappeared once a month. I made up all sorts of stories. I told them my mother was ill, and that I had to go home to see her, I was terrified they would desert me the moment they found out what I was. But of course, they, like you, Hermione, worked out the truth. And they didn’t desert me at all. Instead they did something for me that would make my transformations not only bearable, but the best times of my life. They became Animagi.
Making good progress on this painting of an Echeveria hybrid. I spotted this plant at the Rockefeller Center desert installation earlier this year. Today I found a similar plant - that’s Echeveria ‘Neon Breakers’, another hybrid Echeveria, in the corner. The colors are a bit different but the frills are so similar that it’s a helpful painting reference!
Humans have invented galactic space travel, and find a deserted alien planet. Archives had been found, and the last transmission was “Test subjects 676-976 have escaped, evacuation started” a picture is attached, and it is of a group of humans.
So I’m watching the first Iron Man movie and I’m just thinking that no one really acknowledges how freaking bad Tony’s PTSD must be.
Like okay so he was in a truck that got blown up, he almost died bc of that, he got taken hostage and was kept there for 3 months and was forced to build the suit to get out alive, while he was building it he had a car battery hooked up to his chest keeping him alive, and in the scene where they show his surgery he was awake a lot so that’s pretty damn traumatic, he wore the suit and fought his way out of there, watched his friend die, crashed in the desert, found out his friend paid to have him killed and then tried to kill him himself.
I mean, this guy, I swear. I love him so much.
So I watched Iron Man 3 and I have more to add.
So people with PTSD need a support system. This movie is after New York and everything else that happened in Iron Man 1 & 2, which is a lot of trauma for one person to go through. New York was bad for Tony, he almost died flying that thing into space. He is so very obviously in pain in this movie but Pepper is so blind to it!
He blatantly told her that he is having a hard time coping and her response was “I’m gonna take a shower, and you’re coming with me”. He just told her that he can’t sleep and that he’s different after the New York battle. But she didn’t care. She didn’t take him seriously.
And then when he had a nightmare and ACCIDENTALLY called the suit in his sleep and it grabbed her so she freaked out and left him alone to sleep downstairs because she was mad. Yes, that is a scary experience, the suit grabbing her like that but Tony apologized, he didn’t do it on purpose. It’s not like he asked for the suit to attack her. He was having a nightmare about all of the trauma he has gone through and the suit perceived her as a threat because she was there and shaking him. He didn’t mean to do it. He loved her.
He literally chose to put the suit on her to protect her over himself.
She was so insensitive to his pain and he deserves and needs so much better.
Few sights evoke the American West more than the saguaro cactus, found only in the Sonoran Desert. Saguaro National Park, close to the urban center of Tucson, Arizona, protects these majestic cacti. At the park, you can hike through fantastic desert scenery year-round. #Sunset photo courtesy of David Olsen.
rey’s past was a mystery, even to her. when she was a little girl, she was found wandering down a highway in the desert, miles away from the nearest town with no memory of who she was or where she’d come from. her dreams were always plagued by strange, alien figures and bright lights that seemed too vivid to just be products of her imagination. rey never investigated her suspicions, at least not until after she joined the rio (republic intelligence office) as a junior agent. her natural aptitude at profiling and skill with technology put her on the fast track to an illustrious career. however, after her first major case, she got side tracked by an unofficial ‘x-files’ project. these x-files documented years of cases with one thing in common: conventional science couldn’t explain them. rey quickly found herself delving into the paranormal hoping for answers to questions she’d been asking all her life.
finn, a straitlaced, driven junior agent was also a rising star in science division of the rio until assistant director ben solo personally reassigned him to the x-files. his assignment? observe and evaluate rey’s work to determine the validity of the x-files. he was intent on debunking her work, but rey’s steadfast belief in a truth beyond anything either of them could imagine shook his faith. he found himself questioning the motives of his superiors and their dedication to obstructing the x-files investigations. when the x-files brought to light his own forgotten childhood with the knights of ren, an extremist cult dedicated to the worship of an alien “force”, matters were complicated even further.
in the face of their warring pasts and presents, government cover ups, and an unknowable evil lurking on the fringes of their reality, finn and rey find that, in order to get to the truth, they can trust no one but each other.
I don’t want to rain on anybody’s fandom fun but I find it kind of hilarious everybody pegs Keith as resident conspiracy theorist when like
Keith, in episode 1: So I just felt weirdly compelled to go out in the desert and look for something, found carvings that led me to anticipate some kind of arrival and I knew I had to go meet whoever was coming and get them away from the Garrison. It turned out aliens were involved but that’s really not that important? Also I’ll just talk about it like all of this is normal and be mildly put-out when someone makes fun of me. Weird pseudo-clairvoyance is just a normal thing that happens to everyone, right?
Pidge, in episode 1: I infiltrated a government space exploration program by falsifying my identity and secretly built equipment to listen for alien radio chatter which I regularly sneak out of the dorms to do. I did this because said government space program is definitely lying to me about the disappearance of this space mission and the one time I told someone about it, I specifically told them that the world as they knew it was about to change.
I mean, in general, Pidge puts an incredibly high priority about finding information and getting answers- the whole green paladin ‘inquisitive’ thing- while Keith is much more that he has a vague, but strong-held feeling of something that’s right and he’ll pursue that single goal, details don’t matter to him nearly as much. People talk about his “conspiracy chart” but all he really had there was pictures of the carvings and a map where he seems to have narrowed down exactly where the energy was coming from.
So I guess, proposed alternative measure: Pidge who is determined to chase weird stuff and Keith who is just. the incredibly ride-or-die friend about it.
Pidge opens the door to Keith’s room at 3AM “KEITH C’MON I THINK THIS PLANET HAS A GHOST”
Keith is like. half awake and already putting on his jacket. “jeez, okay, let me find where we left the camera last time.”

Dinosaur National Monument in Utah and Colorado gets its name from the fantastic remains of extinct animals embedded in the rocks. Petroglyphs tell the stories of ancient cultures. Later, homesteaders and outlaws found refuge here. Today, the mountains, desert and untamed rivers flowing in deep canyons support an array of life. Whether your passion is science, adventure, history or scenery, Dinosaur National Monument offers much to explore. Photo from the Cub Creek road by National Park Service.
I have no doubt that Keith is gonna grow into a good leader but like last time Shiro vanished without a body to be found he freaked out and dropped out of school to wander through the desert for a year lookin for ufos so Shiro is kidding himself if he thinks Keith is gonna spend one minute of his time in command not looking for a way to bring him back. Rest in Peace????? Not on Keith’s watch bitch.
Altaïr: Some times you do not get to see the fruits of your labors but you have to entrust that those you love and leave behind will carry out your name and legacy. In Altaïr’s case, he left a great legacy to follow don’t you think?
Malik: Its okay to be grumpy, freedom of expression. Just remember that your grumpiness and sass better keep those you’re close to in line by reminding them they can’t get away with whatever they want.
Ezio: You can’t prepare for how much life will take away from you. What you can do is work that much harder to grow and love more people, with the memory of those you lost in your heart. You fall in love more than once.
Edward: The greatest treasure in life isn’t found on some deserted island, or on a rich cargo ship, or in the heated blaze of glory. But it IS worth fighting for. At the end of the day, remember those who have fought and died with you.
Adewale: You can spend your whole life fighting for freedom, it’s okay. Find yourself a noble cause and stick to it. Be warned, you might find yourself incredibly alone though…
Haytham: Family isn’t perfect. We are not perfect. We are not our parents. We do not have to let the ghosts of our pasts haunt our actions. We can make our own choices and fix the problems in the world the way we see fit.
Connor: Sometimes you are given a great burden to shoulder alone yet you are also given little to no support to start off with. That doesn’t mean you stop fighting for what’s right. Family doesn’t stop with blood.
Arno: Revolution isn’t just a change of government or publicized thinking. It’s a change of temperament, a change of heart, a period of growth. No soul comes out of a war unscathed or without having lost something dear to them.
Shay: Stand against what you believe to be wrong, even if you must leave family and friends behind. In the end, you must be able to live with the choices you’ve made, no one else’s opinions matter.
Evie: We have people we look up to, and while it’s admirable to strive to be like them, we can’t. We must be our own person and love, and fight, and live to our fullest capacity. Little brothers need constant supervision.
Jacob: Sometimes you have to be a little rough to get the results you want. Be comfortable in your own skin, love who you want, talk the way you want, walk the way you want. And always have a killer top hat on hand.
Desmond: Your ancestors can cast a big shadow over you, but that’s not their purpose. Their pasts should teach you humbling truths and help you make the big decisions in life, no matter how unprepared you feel. This is YOUR life - live it the way you see fit.
Max sitting with the Milking Mothers and they teach him how to knit. He starts knitting for relaxation and makes random things.
Furiosa finds a brightly colored cozy on the stick shift of her new war rig. It’s so weird but so precious she can’t remove it.
War pups with misshapen knit hats on.
Big, tough, War Boys with little black knitted baggies tied to their belts.
Max makes new fingerless gloves for Dag, in a really garish bright green yarn since she works with the plants. She doesn’t really like them but wears them anyways because a gift carries the giver’s warm spirit in it.
Max leaves a light yellow pouch for Toast…she is confused but oddly delighted. No one has ever given her a gift before.
Capable requests a shawl and Max tries to make something somewhat “pretty”, so he asks his knitting mentor how to make something different, but he ends up making something that looks like an old fish net. Capable still loves it because it’s unique.
The next try he nails it, perfect shawl, in Cheedo’s favorite colors.
He makes a few more for the Vuvalini and some of the younger girls at the Citadel.
He makes one more, out of dark blue and aqua-marine colored yarn with flecks of light green and tan. He’d been saving this yarn for a while. It reminds him of the ocean where his home used to be, but it also reminds him of his new home, where he is now. He puts it away and insists he just made it to keep his hands busy, but everyone else knows why he made it. Capable snatches it when he’s not around and leaves it for Furiosa, with a note that simply says, “from Max”.
