Today we discuss the vulnerabilities of our election system, how election security has already been breached, and what could happen next.

We talk with journalist Kim Zetter. She’s been writing about cybersecurity and the integrity of our voting systems for more than a decade. “If you ask any security expert and election advocates, they cite a voter-verified paper trail as single most important step that states could take to ensure integrity of elections,” Zetter says. 14 states don’t produce a paper trail at all, and of the states that do, there have been cases of inadequate auditing.

Serbia will have its first gay prime minister
Ana Brnabic will also be the country's first woman prime minister in a sign of increasing tolerance.

For the first time ever, the president of Serbia has nominated a gay woman to serve as prime minister.

New Serbian president Aleksandar Vucic chose Ana Brnabic as prime minister in the conservative state, where she’s the first woman and first gay person to hold the position. And Serbia isn’t the friendliest place for LGBTQ people.

The symbolism of the appointment is real, but it comes against a backdrop of ingrained and sustained antipathy towards homosexuality. It may be more of a harbinger of change than evidence that change has already occurred.

Police research in 2015 found that almost half its officers agreed with the statement “homosexuality is an illness that should be treated”, reports the BBC’s Guy De Launey in Belgrade.

Even the leader of one of the smaller parties in the president’s coalition, Dragan Markovic Palma of Unified Serbia, said Ms Brnabic was “not my prime minister”.

He was recently quoted as saying that the new prime minister “should be a family man who knows what children are”.

Serbia! This is a serious milestone. The BBC article linked above gives a great breakdown of what this means politically and culturally; give it a read if you can.

Experts Suspect Russia Is Using Ukraine As A Cyberwar Testing Ground

Today Terry Gross spoke with Wired writer Andy Greenberg about how Russia has been waging cyber war against Ukraine – undermining media, finance, politics transportation, military and the power grid. Greenberg says you should be paying attention. “They can get away with things in Ukraine and they can’t try elsewhere and they may be honing attacks that they’ll use on Western Europe or the United States.”

Box Office: 'Wonder Woman' Just Topped 'Green Lantern's Total Gross In One Weekend
'Wonder Woman' made $223 million on its worldwide opening weekend.
By Scott Mendelson

They said a female comic book superhero movie couldn’t work. They said women couldn’t direct big-budget action blockbusters. They said audiences overseas wouldn’t go for a big-budget spectacular not centered around a white guy. They said a lot of things over the last few decades. Patty Jenkins and Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman just outgrossed the entire global total of Green Lantern ($219m) this weekend. Oh, and by tomorrow, it will probably be the biggest DC Comics movie ever not based around Batman or Superman. Sorry, Constantine ($230m in 2005 and sans 3D), I still think you’re pretty cool.

‘Wonder Woman’ Kicks Off With Massive $223 Million at Global Box Office
By Seth Kelley

“Wonder Woman” is a global hit.

In addition to the historic $100.5 million that Warner Bros. and DC Comics’ latest lassoed in at the domestic box office, international grosses at 55 markets accounted for $122.5 million this weekend, giving the movie a global opening of $223 million.

The international numbers are higher than many other super hero films including the first two “Thor” and “Iron Man” movies, both “Guardians of the Galaxy” volumes, and “Man of Steel.”

China powered the international sales with $38 million, the fourth largest opening of all time for a Warner Bros. film. Korea brought in $8.5 million in earnings, followed closely behind by Mexico ($8.4 million) and Brazil ($8.3 million). The film also showed strong in the U.K. where it earned $7.5 million.

Patty Jenkins now holds the banner for the best domestic opening for a female director, topping “Fifty Shades of Grey’s” Sam Taylor-Johnson ($85.1 million). Before “Wonder Woman,” Jenkins’ only feature was “Monster” — an Academy Award winner that she made more than a decade ago with an $8 million budget.

Hi! I was wondering if any of you could point me in the direction of some good LGBT (preferrably 'L') written by an Icelandic writer, concerning Icelandic characters or even just set in Iceland? Anything really, I was just wondering if there was anything like that around. So far I haven't found much... thanks in advance!

I’m really sorry that this has been sitting in my drafts forever! I was able to find a couple, though:

Actually Icelandic wlw books:

Set in Iceland:

Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to find any resources for seeing which books are available in Icelandic! I would try all the most common wlw books, like Sarah Waters, Jeanette Winterson, and Emma Donoghue. They’re the most likely to be translated.

International Voices of Hiccup (Updated #3)

This is my third update in my search to find the names of all Hiccup’s foreign voice actors. I’m so close, yet so far. If anyone would be able to help me, it would all be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
