Repossessed by the Americans upon their triumphal entry into the city of New York, November 25, 1783. Erected through the generosity of James Gordon Bennett, by the Empire State Society of the Sons of the American Revolution, November 16, 1901.” Handwritten on back: “Palmer-Singer, 1909.”
