Dear ARCHY, I have an assignment that requires me to discuss "transitions" in architecture, how they connect and separate, transitions between different materials, horisontal/vertical, inside/outside etc. What comes to your mind when you hear the word "transition", and would you give some examples of such transitions or passages in architectuall structures? Thanks!
Transition in architecture, for me, implies change. Is the action we take as designers to bridge the gap between two different elements (spaces, materials, experiences). It can be something as simple as a joint between two materials or something as elaborate as a new structure between the old and new parts of a structure.
