The Grumpy Barista - don’t be deceived by the name, there’s a lot to smile about at this little cafe. Dressed up in weathered upcycled furniture, potplants and other rustic finds (by co-owner and ex-wedding stylist Sarah) we were drawn in by the splash of light within the cosy space and a bright welcome from decidedly upbeat staff.
Instantly seduced by the crisp raspberry cronuts on display at the front, we were also pleased with the coffee (bean by Toby’s Estate) and the pumpkin & avocado on Sonoma sourdough - oh the delicious smell of freshly baked bread, soft with a gorgeous crust.
We left as converted fans, will be back for the coffee and to catch what’s new in the day-by-day revolving selection of gourmet pastry inventions. Easy start to the day here, those Petersham locals are lucky ducks.
