Vegan Chocolate Chip Cookies

Makes 20 - 24 cookies
Classic chocolate chip cookies made with vegan ingredients.


  • 1 ¼ cup all purpose flour (sub for gf flour)
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • ½ brown sugar
  • 1 vanilla bean (or 1 tsp vanilla extract)
  • ½ cup of softened vegan butter
  • ¼ cup applesauce
  • ¼ tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp baking powder
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • ½ cup of dark chocolate chips (Make sure they don’t contain dairy)

1. Sift flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt into a bowl and combine the ingredients.
2. In a separate bowl, cream the butter and sugars together with an electric mixer until it’s reached a creamy consistency. Then add the applesauce and the vanilla to the mixture and stir until well combined.
3. Add the liquid ingredients to the dry and with a wooden spoon, then stir until the two are united. Once combined, add in the chocolate chips and fold it into the cookie dough.
4. About 5 minutes before baking, preheat the oven to 170 °C. While the oven is preheating lay out a sheet On a baking paper on your oven griddle. Spoon about 1 tbsp of dough onto the griddle until there is no more dough left.
5. Bake on the center of the rack for 10-15 min. You’ll know when your cookies are done when the underside of them have turned golden brown.
6. Remove from oven and let rest on pan for a few minutes, then transfer to a cooling rack to cool completely.
