Stressed? Feel like you're too busy to workout/eat healthy?? IVE GOTCHU

Man, ^^^ is exactly how I feel rn but I want to let you guys know that I have found a few tips that have helped me stay healthy and working out during stressful times! Its currently dead week for me @ college and man IM STRESSED! Here is what I’m doing everyday for the next 2 weeks to stay healthy and working out during this stressful time!
1. I drink 1 glass of lemon water, a cup of green tea and a good breakfast to start my day!
2. I make a checklist of everything I want to get done that day. It’s both satisfying for me and I can plan out my day!
3. During your study/homework breaks do floor workouts (abs/legs/arms) or go for 1 mile run :) this is only about 10 minutes, and if you do it 4/5 times throughout your day you have 40-50 minute workout and your body will be more focused from working out!
4. DRINK WATER AND GET SLEEP!! v important :)
5. Make lunch/dinner in the mornings or the night before so you don’t feel stressed during the day what to eat/time

Why I needed a Vilde season

I’m really sad that we will never get a Vilde season. I was certain she would be the season 6 main, but that won’t happen now. I think her story could deal with some very important issues that a lot of young people deal with, that is tabu and often misunderstood. 

We know from the previous seasons that she is dealing with eating disorders, and even though she is eating better in this season, she is not just miraculously cured. Eating disorders do not work like that. They can often be a lifelong disorder that you just learn to live with (like alcoholism). Vilde is probably in a very good mental stage right now, and therefore does not need the food control in her life atm.

We know she avoids bringing the girls home and says her mom has wine tasting all the time. Something is clearly going on at home, and she tries to hide it from her friends. She may be living in a very chaotic home, maybe her mom drinks too much? (Vilde calling it wine tasting to makes it seem like it is not a big deal or an issue). Vilde being obsessed with her appearance and how other perceive her could also be because of that. She does not wish that other people see a chaotic life, which has made her a perfectionist. Being able to control your food and your exercise can help you compensate for all the things in your life, you feel like you can’t control.

I think Vilde is so much smarter than she appears. But sometimes it’s just easier not to engage in deep conversations, because what if someone got too close to you and found out about all the things you are dealing with? It’s just easier to protect yourself, by being superficial.

“I heard you screaming back to Minghao screaming earlier today”

“I get irritated when I’m woken up.”

He nodded like he totally got you.

“It’s a never ending screaming fest in this house. I’m usually always just in my room working on my music or sleeping. So it’s getting annoying to listen to the screaming all day. So thanks.”

Huh. I still feel like he doesn’t belong in college but alright. You began walking around throwing things into the shopping cart that Wonwoo was pushing around.

“So Wonwoo, what are you like?”

He shrugged.

“I don’t think I’m the most interesting person in this household. The usual. I like playing video games, listening to music, or watching movies.”

“Oh, I see.”

“I’m scared of dogs”

“Seriously?” So no dogs. I don’t hate him so I wouldn’t want him to live uncomfortably.

After paying we got into the car. I sat next to Jeonghan. It was quiet in the car until Rap Monster started

Wonwoo turned up the radio. Jeonghan turned to you

Once you guys got home. Jihun got inside deciding he’s done enough and was going back to his room. Wonwoo decided to start putting things inside. While Jeonghan went to call others to help. You decided to help Wonwoo and grabbed two bags and was beginning to walk towards the front door when you tripped nearly face planting the ground when someone caught your arm. You looked up to see this blonde guy that you didn’t recognize.

“So you’re a klutz? Literally there’s nothing around you to trip on”

You heard Jeonghan yell, “There you are Jun!”

So Jun’s a douche. So far is what I grasped. There’s 10 of them living in this household so I guess there had to be a douche.

Jun looked at you and took the bags with one hand and offered his other to you.

You looked at his hand and decided on taking it because you’re not sure on who’s bad and good side you need to be on yet.

“Thanks. I can carry those in”

Jun looked you up and down. You hid slightly.  He handed you a bag.

“Looks like the other guy’s got the rest anyways.” He started to walk inside. You couldn’t help but notice he has really good legs.

“BOO”

You swear you could’ve hit the roof with how high you jumped. Turning around ready to smack the shit out of someone, you chose to back away when noticing it was Mingyu.

“What the actual fuck Mingyu.”

“I saw your encounter with Jun. He can be an ass.”

“Well so far I think you’re more of an ass”

Mingyu laughed.

“Hey so since it’s your first day here lets go to this party” You looked thoughtful.

“Sure why the hell not. I need to get loose after this day”

He smiled at you.

“Alright. I’ll let the other guys know and see who else wants to join” He went to go ask the other members.

Later that night you were wearing a black crop top that came just above your belly button with some black skinny jeans because all black was your forte.

Mingyu came up to you.

“Well damn. I didn’t know you wanted to get that loose.”

You shoved him.

“Me? When I met you you wearing nothing but a towel!”

“Oh! So that’s what you’ll remember of our first encounter.”

You rolled your eyes.

“Whatever. Just be glad I actually remember you.” You walked off to go grab yourself a drink because you were going to need it. You downed a couple of shots and grabbed a red solo cup filled with beer.

“So you’re an alcoholic?” Jun came up next to you grabbing a solo cup of his own.

“No. But you live in the same house as me. Wouldn’t you drink after a day with them?”

He shrugged and took a drink of his cup.

“They aren’t THAT bad once you get to know them.”

“I don’t think they are bad. Just.. it’s been an intense first day…”

Jun nodded. “You got lucky I live there” He smiled at you and left towards the dance floor.

He seriously has some nerve. He thinks he’s all that. You scoffed and decided to walk around.

Mingyu came up to you pulling you to the dance floor. Which you didn’t mind since you loved to dance and so you danced.

Every so often you’d escape for another shot. Coming back to dance. The more shots you took the more provocative your dances became. After other guys started coming up to you to get closer to you. The boys started to pull you away from them.

You started to stumble your way for another shot when an arm grabbed you.

“Listen princess, I think you’ve had way too much to drink at this point.” You looked up to see Jun. He was slightly sweaty from dancing. His blonde hair sticking to his forehead. Also either you were really drunk or his sweaty self smelt really good. You leaned towards him, which resulted him in grabbing your shoulders.

“Yeah, you’re done”.  

You could hear voices talking between them self. Probably about you but all you knew is that the arms you were being carried by smelt good and you felt safe.

You woke up the next morning with a pounding headache. You looked to the side and saw water along with painkillers.

Bless their souls. They’re considerate. You took the pills and decided to contemplate on what the fuck happened last night.

Well one thing you can ensure. You’re fully clothed and none of the boys are in bed with you. That’s the biggest relief. You pulled yourself out of bed and to the bathroom to shower and get ready for the day. You started to head downstairs after hearing commotion in the kitchen.

Mingyu was standing by the stove making something. Soonyoung and Minghao were standing by the counter looking like hungry wild animals. Sungcheol walked in and looked at you.

“Oh Good Afternoon. Fun night out I take it?”

“I suppose. I have a killer headache and I’m starving”

Mingyu looked at you and smiled “It’s almost done!”

You sat.

Jeonghan came in and grabbed some water.

“You know Y/N. You can really fucking dance. So many guys were so on you last night. You really could’ve gotten laid”

You put your forehead to the table and groaned.

“Who let me drink so much” Mingyu put a plate in front of you.

“We tried to stop you. But your feisty. Which only got people turned on more.”
Jeonghan laughed out loud.

“He probably means himself. He had his eyes on you like all night”

Mingyu shrugged.

“I appreciate attractive people when I see them.” He looked at you.

“Don’t worry. I didn’t do anything to you though. I’d like to be wanted back” He winked. And left to go serve the others.

Jeonghan looked at you and leaned in.

“He’s such a fucking flirt. My god. Don’t fall for that. He’s full of shit”.

Sungcheol looked at Jeonghan.

“I’m going to make a swear jar, that way we use that money to buy groceries. It’ll fill so fast.”

Jeonghan stuck his tongue out of him.

“Whatever. I’m going to get my food.” He walked out.

You saw Jihun come down and retrieve some food then leave. Seokmin came in.

“I’ve got a class today so bye!”

Sungcheol grabbed a bagel. “I have work. So don’t destroy the house. Seriously.”

Minghao and Soonyoung ran off after eating. Probably to go dance. They were dance majors.

Mingyu came to sit next to you. “Guess it’s just us now.”

You shifted away a bit and ate.

“I have somethings to take of at the campus. So I’ll be going soon.”

Mingyu nodded. “I have work to go too”

You guys ate in silence. Then you put your dish away and looked at Mingyu.

“Well have fun with work. Bye” You left quickly.

You got to the university and took care of what you needed to take care of. Deciding to wander instead of going back to the house alone. You walked past this dance practice room that was playing music and peeked in. There you saw Jun by himself dancing. You stood there peeking through the tiny window. You couldn’t help but admire that he had a good body. He was wearing black jeans and a white sleeveless shirts. His arms looked good.

Suddenly you vaguely remembered last night. Drifting off into the memory you remember his arms and him laying you down in bed. Then you placed your forehead against the door remembering you pull him down once he laid you down.

You felt yourself fall forward. Jun catching you.

“Hi, I see you’re up”

You blushed. He seemed to always be catching you and now he knows you were watching him!

“Uh, you dance well…” Might as well keep up with that you saw him.

“You don’t dance bad yourself” He said as he walked to go drink some water.
You couldn’t help but watch as he drank his water. His Adam’s apple being prominent and sweat dripping down his forehead. You swear you weren’t into this before. Jun looked at you.

“So what are you doing on campus?”

You shook your head to pull you from your thoughts. “I had some paperwork to turn in”

He nodded, “Ah, I see. So you’re free? Let’s go get food. I’m hungry”

“Alright let’s go.”

You went with him. But you weren’t going to tell him you just ate before coming..

Salt is a go to ingredient that witches seem to use abundantly.


Salt and it’s historical uses

In Germany, Normandy, and Scotland salt was sprinkled around a butter churn to keep witches from souring the butter or hurting the cow whose milk was used to make the butter.

An Irish folk remedy called upon the use of salt as well as the reciting of the lords prayer to get cure ‘faerie-struck’ children. Similar to the way the Bavarian and Ukrainian people used to figure out if a child had been bewitched.

Egyptian Caravans that were preparing to cross the desert would perform a ritual that involved burning salt on hot coals in order to prevent evil spirits nothing the travelers as well as to ensure a safe passage.

Salt in general is used in ritual purification, magickal protections, and blessings.

Some witches place salt in the four corners of the room before casting.

Used in purification spells.

Used to symbolize earth, one of the elements, on your altar or when you are casting. Sea salt may be used as the element water due to the fact that it came from the sea.

Can be used as an offering to the Gods.

Some people associate it with wealth, prosperity, and good luck.

Is an ingredient used often and abundantly in Kitchen Magick.

Creates a magickal, protective barrier.

Cleanses

Throw salt to ward off malevolent spirits and energies.

Repels many types of evil.

Absorbs psychic energies.

Place in your bath to cleanse and rid negativity. (Epsom Salt)


Salt and it’s superstitions

If someone spills the salt at dinner, it means a violent family quarrel is on the way.

It’s considered bad luck to lend salt to someone, because that can lead to a feud between the borrower and the lender. A good way to avoid this problem is if you get a cup of salt from someone, pay it back with sugar or molasses instead. Interestingly, in parts of northern England and Scotland it is also seen as bad luck to lend salt, mostly because the person borrowing it can use it as a magical link to curse you.

Salt can also be used to detect the presence of witches: in the Ozarks, it is believed that witches don’t eat much salt, so if someone complains about food being too salty, she might be regarded with suspicion. There is also a tale that bewitched cattle will not touch salt.

If you spill salt you must through it over your shoulder to bring you good luck and to keep evil at bay.


Types of salt and there properties

Himalayan Salt: Is commonly used for protection, especially around the home and against malevolent spirits. Also used to purify and to get rid of any negative energies. Used in spells to release from attachment. It has gentle, but strong grounding and centering energies. Brings prosperity and abundance into a home. Promotes love, happiness, and friendship.

Black Salt: Is used mainly for protection. Absorbs and contains any negativity. Can be used for hexing too. It drives away evil and protects your home and belongings. Use it to create boundaries with your enemies. Wardings, undoings, uncrossings, binding work, journeying to the afterlife, honoring the crone, and many other workings use black salt. Black salt can also be used to return curses and negative energies back to it’s caster. Working with the dark moon.

Sea Salt: Sacred to water deities and used often in Sea Witchcraft.  Make herbal salt scrubs. Used to consecrate. Commonly used to make magick circles. Used for protection as well. Can be used in curses. It is associated with purity, protection, purification, and blessings.

How to Successfully Adopt a Lifestyle Change

Not a diet. Diet implies temporary, and what we need to do is form a set of new, sustainable habits for the rest of our life.

A lot of you probably have a daydream of taking a black, billowy trash bag and planning a SWAT-style assault on your fridge and cupboards and then setting fire to the dumpster you hurl it into. Naturally, you’ll dash over to the grocery store and purchase a ton of strange-looking foods you don’t regularly eat, or never eat! Then you’ll slap on a pair of shiny new shoes and go run a 5K. This works for–some people. Honestly, few people.

The reality for many people; however, is they get off their foray after a few weeks. Why is that?

Think about it. How long did it take you to really get into the groove of your current habits? Months? Years? If you’re trying to simultaneously kiss soda and chip’s ass good-bye, change every bite of food you eat, and start a fitness routine. Guess what? Stress, stress, stress! Your stomach was used to those portion sizes (whether too large or too small) and some of your favorite snacks, your brain is literally addicted to it. A lot of people will reach nuclear meltdown levels trying to transition to a healthy lifestyle this way.

Just like it took you time to form your current habits, it’s going to take some time to form your new habits. I truly do empathize with the feelings of wanting everything to be different right now, but realistically we can only handle a certain amount of stressors and change at one time.

Start With Nutrition Habits: While I really would recommend finding a few cheeky ways to get more active, you’ve probably heard some variant of “can’t outrun your fork,” or “it’s 80% nutrition.” Well, it really is true. Being more active is absolutely crucial to improving overall health in the “endgame,”  but we’re still playing the “tutorial” and the dietary aspects of our lifestyle change are the bulk of the impact. It goes beyond that, though. I’ve written more about it here, but being a beginner can be genuinely hard at times!  It takes a lot of time and effort to get oneself to a point where they can physically and mentally handle what entails “regular, moderate exercise.” One part of making that transition easier will be better nutrition and hydration.

Start With an Easy Target: I always tell people if they drink a lot of soda, juice, or sweetened tea/coffee to start here. Sugar provides us pretty much no nutrition and removing the pulp from fruit makes juice not that great for us, either. Drinking more water is not negotiable and replacing these beverages with water will do a surprising amount of good for how you feel–all by itself. I recognize how hard this one can be to kick, but sweetened beverages really do load many people’s lifestyles with a lot of bad juju.

If you don’t have a beverage problem, maybe you do have a condiment/dressing problem and can reduce the quantities and find alternatives. Maybe you party-hardy a little too much and need to cut down on alcohol. While I said “easy target,” no one said it would be that easy, but you probably have an idea where most of these so called “empty” nutrients are coming from.

Transition Bad Habits a Few at a Time: The opening of this probably already made it clear, but Rome wasn’t built in a day. You probably have an idea of what some of your most problematic habits are, so choose one; maybe two, and see how you adjust over a week or two before considering the next step.

Small Swaps: Start switching out various items in your pantries, fridges, and lunchboxes with simple alternatives. Change white breads, rices, and pastas to brown. Take the bag of chips from your lunch and turn it into a few servings of seasonal fruit and vegetables. Pick out a leaner cut of meat and use a little less dairy, if you eat them. Little changes can have massive results.

Learn Moderation: Remember that whole sustainable part at the very beginning? Our lifestyles do need to reflect our real lives. Well, my real life has a love of chocolates, pastries, and candies. So, it’s not realistic for me to say “no chocolate, pastries, or candies.” Food molarity can be a pretty toxic outlook on eating and life in general. Instead of labeling foods as “bad,” just learn and respect the limits. There are times where you have to say, “enough, is enough,” but living in a constant state of “no” is not realistic or mentally healthy for most people. It’s OK to love indulgent food. Think about how long your life is going to be. So, now think about how dinky an occasional treat will be in retrospect.

Depending on Your Struggles, Consider Therapy: As we know, many aspects of unhealthy eating habits are actually unhealthy mental habits. Depending on the severity and exact nature of those problems, never be embarrassed to seek professional help. I struggled with stress eating and even binge eating for most of my adolescence, and finally getting help for my anxiety disorder played a pretty crucial role in improving both my physical and mental health. If it’s not a possibility at this time, consider journaling.

Walk Before Your Run: Literally and figuratively. I’m going to recommend this previous post I recently wrote again, but when you’ve gotten a few habits cracked and feel like you’re ready to start amping up your activity, start with low impact and low equipment exercises. If it has been years, or if you’ve never exercised, it takes some easing into it. I recommend walking to all beginners because we already know how to do it, have what we need to do it, and probably won’t hurt ourselves.

So, there you have it. Tackle small challenges and get your body acclimated to them before you consider some of the overarching and holistic goals you have for your lifestyle. That said, we’re all different. If you still want to try and do that 180-flip, I can’t stop you and some people are successful that way. No two people or personality types have the exact same problems or strategy for overcoming them. However, if you’ve gotten frustrated and thrown in the towel a time or two, consider the scope of change and how to realistically implement it over a period of time.  We didn’t form our old habits overnight.

Transformation Tuesday, or as I now like to call it, Where the Hell Did My Boobs Go? Day.

The pic on the left is from November. I was about 17 lbs down and FEELIN MYSELF. Check out that sick sailor vibe. I got those shorts for a deal at Forever 21 and now they are too big! 😩

Currently 48 lbs down with no stopping me. I did my 3 miles today, and even lowered my mile time a little bit. I actually surprised myself with how long I could run without stopping. My goal is to be able to run a whole mile (I’ve never been able to do that).

Hey, blossoms! There are times when we get ill, which is perfectly natural. To be honest, I am currently sick, so this is kind of a refined version of my thoughts from a few days ago. I was worried about missing school, and I thought that some ideas I have could help you!

self-care 

 The most important thing to do when you’re sick is to take care of yourself and get better. This may mean putting your studies aside, but health always comes first. Here’s some tips:

- Certain types of tea, like chamomile and ones with lemon, can soothe sore throats.

- (Side note: I’ve heard that marshmallows are also able to help sore throats because of the gelatin they contain, but that may not be true and I don’t have a credible source for it.) 

- Make sure you drink lots of fluids, like juice, milk, and most importantly, water! One of my personal faves is Tang, which is this orange powder that you dissolve in water. It used to be really big in America a while ago but I don’t know widespread it is elsewhere. 

- Try to shower regularly if you’re congested because the steam will clear out your sinuses. 

 - If you can’t shower regularly, nasal rinses will work just fine too! You can get a  system for that at your local pharmacy. (There’s also this thing you can do where you fill a sink with hot water, put a towel over it, and stick your head underneath the towel. This allows the steam to build up, which means you can decongest a little.)

- Medicate regularly!! Check the directions on whatever type of medication you’re taking to see when it wears off and set a timer so you can stay on top of it. This will help your recovery process along a bit faster. However, DO NOT ABUSE MEDICATION. Take only as much as is prescribed because taking too much can actually be worse for your health. 

- If you’re on antibiotics, make sure to eat well because antibiotics are designed to take out all types of bacteria within the body, even the good ones in your digestive system. (I’d personally recommend eating foods with fiber and protein and staying away from dairy if you can. That’s just my personal experience! It may be different for other people.)

- Get some rest!! You may want to catch up on your studies but you’ll be able to catch up quicker and understand material better if you’re well rested.

So, you’re feeling alright and ready to begin making up work. Where do you begin? 

- Here’s some posts on catching up after being away for a while (note some of these are travel based, but there’s still some good information in there) 

- Email your teachers! Text your classmates! Ask for notes, for homework, and for additional help if you’re unclear about what’s going on. 

- If you’re feeling well enough, you could run in to your classes in order to get the homework and briefly conference with your teachers, but it’s always best to make sure you’re not contagious or feeling poorly before doing so. Email is pretty much just as effective. 

- Start small. Trying to catch up on all your work in one day is never good. Try to do the work for maybe one class, and if you’re feeling well enough, do another.

- Do what’s most important first. If you’re in a group project and they’re waiting for your input on a presentation or something else, get that in ASAP. Don’t affect the grades of others with your illness.

As you return to your usual schedule, here are some things to note:

 - Before going back to class, ensure you’re in a good place mentally and physically. For example, if you’re still running a fever or you still feel very ill, take some more time and wait. 

- Make sure your study space is functional so that you can begin to return back to your normal schedule. The desk reflects the mind. 

- Keep up on your fluids! If you’re still a little under the weather or you haven’t finished that course of antibiotics, keep taking those meds! 

- Don’t be hard on yourself if you don’t understand something. Being gone is hard. Ask for help and self-advocate.

- If you’re on a sports team or doing some other strenuous activity, it’s okay to take a couple more days away from that to let your body recover completely. 

- The most important thing is to take it easy, even after you’re well enough to come back to class. If you overwork yourself while still recovering, that can lead to backslide, so please be careful!!

how to write a fat character

media seems to do such a terrible job at representing people like me and same goes for many fic writers who try to base their characters on these characters shown in media. Here are some basic do’s and and don’t’s to writing fat characters! 

DONT:

  • make your character in love with food- they’re allowed to eat like everyone else, but not every real fat person has an obsession over food. The rule can get iffy if your fat character is a cook.*
  • make your character the center of jokes- everyone has something “funny” about them, but don’t make your fat character constantly make jokes about their own weight. Fat people get enough bullshit from skinny people about their weight already. 
  • make your character incredibly unfit- there are real fat people who are incredibly athletic! their weight may be from genetics or from proper muscle building (not the muscle building we’re groomed to think is right in society). The choices your character makes is what affects their athleticism, not their weight 
  • make your character the Depressed One- yes, fat people do get upset over their body. Many go through horrible diets to try and get slim. It takes years for real fat people to get over it and realize their body is horrible gross. Their weight can simply be because of genetics, not because of how much they eat. 
  • make your character’s arc about things involving their weight- unless your fat character ABSOLUTELY needs to involve food, don’t make this their entire character arc. There are so many cooler things you can do with your character; sexuality, friends/family, simplifying the heroes journey, etc. make your character exciting! make them relatable! 
  • make your character the token fat character- the real world has many types of people, the fantasy world should not be too different from this fact. Your characters should always show diversity, and sometimes repetition is good when its the right character type. 

*making your fat character a chef can be a risky move. think about why your fat character is a chef. was it because they’re the fat character? or is there something that influenced them to become a chef? choose your answer carefully

DO:

  • make your character’s interests diverse- I like food! but i also like many other things! video games, bike riding, painting, singing, give your character varying interests! maybe your character has that one thing they love above all else. the game Fire Emblem: Awakening has always been my go-to favorite thing, what’s your character’s?
  • make your character an individual- develop their personality! how would your character react to seeing the ASPCA commercials? What’s their reaction when a family member dies? When their favorite artist is performing in town? Are there songs that make them emotional? What do they do to de-stress? Do they stim? There’s PLENTY you can say about your character that isn’t just “I love food.”
  • make your character as realistic as possible- just as skinny people are diverse, so are fat people. When you’re describing a fat character, don’t default to “pear shaped.” there are proportionate and disproportionate fat people. maybe they have fatter thighs than they do calves, their stomach pops out but they don’t have “bingo wings,” maybe their chin does that weird thing or maybe it doesn’t (this happens to skinny people, too!). and don’t forget stretch marks. they are real and they are not “taboo.”
  • write your character as if they’re like any other- it all boils down to one thing: the similarities and differences. I’m an XL and my friend is an XS, we both enjoy oversized hoodies! She would wear hoodies in the summer but I would rather walk around shirtless (if society didn’t tell us boobs are bad.) I would never wear short shorts when exercising because they ride up my thighs. Your fat character can act just the same as your skinny one(s).

Ok, so it actually happened ON my 16th birthday, so October of 2006, two years after we moved to CO. I was attending the Germ Pit of Public High School, and got sick about a month in.  I was the sort of phenomenally boring child that didn’t have a curfew because I never went anywhere, and we had Cody, the Gentleman Shepherd at the time, so my parents felt it was OK to leave me alone for a few hours while they did errands.  

There’s something up with either the Bipolar or my allergies, but pretty much all respiratory medications make me hallucinate.  Doesn’t matter if it’s benadryl, nyquil or nasal spray, twenty minutes in I’ll be out of my goddamn mind.  But it beats not being able to breathe. So I’m in my bedroom upstairs bedroom, convinced I’m growing an exoskeleton, While Cody sits on the bed next to me, doing the Shepherd Thing where he plants his ass in front of my face and watches all the doors and windows.

I have nearly passed out when I think I hear a weird popping noise outside, but assume that it’s just me developing mandibles, so I don’t think much of it.  Cody, being the Responsible Adult, gets up to investigate.

A moment later, I hear him Barking, and know something is Amiss.  This dog Does Not Bark.  he didn’t bark when we picked him up at the shelter, he doesn’t bark at the door or the foxes or anything, but he is barking now.  I warp myself in the Extra-Soft Rainbow Unicorn Blanket for protection, and stumble downstairs.

For some context, the downstairs has an office, with a large set of sliding glass doors and a concrete porch, then a large wall with a heavy door that leads to a mudroom, which has a shitty little screen door leading to the outside.  It was in this room that we kept the cat food and littler box, because 1. they stank. 2. Cody would occasionally want to play with the cats Too Much and they could hide in there.  

Out on the porch is the Department Of Wildlife sharpshooter, pointing her tranquilizer gun into the Mudroom.  I squint through the haze of dayquil through the heavy door (which has a window) at…

It took me a good minute to realize that was a Bear eating the cat food, because my first thought was “When did we get a shag sofa?”.  Then DOW guy shot him in the ass in the dart, and I watched as a 300lb black bear dove THROUGH the door shitty screen door he’d gotten in through (It was the kind that closes behind you) and run off to the field across the street, pursued by four agents with dogs and bear mace.

The DOW sharpshooter, named Debbie, apparently couldn’t see the wall between us from where she was standing, and was very relived that neither of us had been mauled.   She stayed with me while I called my parents, and even gave me some stickers.  The bear had apparently gone though my whole neighborhood in a fit of hyperphagic madness, chowing down on garbage, cat food, a small vineyard’s worth of grapes and a couple of Mrs. Chin’s goldfish.

They successfully tranquilized the bear, and took him up to Pingree to be hazed and released, where he would hopefully leave people alone.

BTW, if you ever have to call your parents in a situation like this, leaving a voicemail of “Hey mom, I’m okay now, but a bear broke into the house and the Department of Wildlife wants to talk to you.” is not going to help your parents remain calm.

BTS’s reaction to you starting a diet:

Jin: “But I wanted you to be a special guest on Eat Jin,” your boyfriend pouts (an impressive feat with his mouth full of food). He’s very against the idea of you going on a diet – who’s going to help him clear up all the food he can’t manage?

You raise an eyebrow, while he swallows and asks – “What? Do I have something on my face?”

“Just a little…” You reach across the table separating the two of you, and wipe some sauce from the corner of his lips, before popping your finger in your mouth.

Jin chuckles, “Isn’t eating that sauce against your diet?”

“It’s just sauce.”

“Sauce that’s high in fat and salt!”

“This is why you’re a rubbish boyfriend - making me break my diet. For shame!” You poke your tongue out at him.

Jin sighs. “Ah well, I guess if you’re on a diet now, that means more food for me. And I was going to order that ice-cream you like for the next episode of Eat Jin as well…”

That’s playing dirty! “You wouldn’t!” you scoff, knowing full well that he will, and that when you ask for a lick, just the tiniest taste – he’ll offer you the whole scoop - your favourite flavour too - and boom! there goes your diet, and all your good intentions. The worst part is – you won’t mind, because Jin’s kisses will taste that extra bit sweeter seeped in vanilla and strawberry ice-cream.

Yoongi: Yoongi can tell something’s up. You’re being extremely quiet, and you haven’t touched any of the pizza on your plate. Jostled up beside your talkative friends, you’re like a lone grey cloud in the middle of a blue June sky.

Yoongi finishes off the crumbs on his own plate, then stands. “Well, I guess I’ll go wash up,” he says, “Y/N, do you wanna come help?”

You scrunch your nose at him, but follow him to the kitchen anyway, away from the busy chatter of your friends.

“Alright, what’s wrong?” Yoongi asks, when the two of you are out of earshot.

You fiddle with a loose strand on your sweater. “Nothing’s wrong.” There’s a moment of hesitation, and you pull at the thread a little harder, twisting it around your finger. “I just don’t want to eat too since I’ve -” The last part is mumbled.

“You’ve what?”

“…I’ve started dieting.” Your cheeks turn pink.

“Dieting?” Yoongi repeats, “Why?”

“I need to lose some weight.”

He shakes his head. “That’s simply not true. You’re the perfect weight, and I don’t want to hear you saying otherwise. I like you the way you are now.” He gives your arm a gentle poke. “I like this part.” He pokes your stomach. “And this part.” He moves up to your nose. “And this part. I like all of it. It’s all perfect.”

You blush, and bat his hand away. “Yeah, yeah… don’t get all mushy.” But when you go back to join your friends, Yoongi’s happy to see you tucking into a fat slice of pizza.

Hosoek: “Ugh…” That’s a sound you haven’t heard from Hoseok in a while – the sound he makes when he knows he’s fighting a losing battle against you. But he won’t give up without a fight - oh no! He’ll see a smile break through that perfected pout of yours, even if it means bringing out the big guns! An exaggerated eye-roll and a funny face secures his victory, and you can’t cap the laughter that fizzes up inside you - this is definitely the best way to deal with a couple’s quarrel.

“Wow, Y/N, you’re so mean to me! And when I’m trying to help you out as well!”

It’s your turn to roll your eyes. “Hoseok, you stopping me from dieting isn’t going to help anything. I need to take better care of my health. You should be supporting this.”

He straightens up, straightens his face, and fixes you with a serious look. “Okay, I’ll support you – but only if you’re doing it for the right reasons.”

“I’m doing it to get healthier!”

“And you know that-”

“- that I’m completely gorgeous, with the perfect body, and that I don’t need to diet at all, and that you’re lucky to have me.”

He catches your face in his hands, palms pressing your cheeks softly, before he plunges in for a kiss. “Damn right.”

Namjoon: “You dieting? Good one, babe.” Namjoon’s dimples deepen, his smile erupting into a fully-fledged laugh.

And then he realises you’re not joking. And his face falls. “Wait, really? You’re dieting? Why?” His mind kicks into overdrive, wondering, worrying about what could have caused this sudden decision. Before, you would have happily helped him finish off pizzas or ice-cream sundaes, but now you’re talking about empty calories and cutting carbs.

“I need to fix my figure,” you tell him, brow wrinkling into a frown.

Namjoon looks you up and down. “Babe…”

“What?”

His eyes trace your body a second time. “Babe.”

“What?” you demand again.

He shakes his head. “You do not need to get in shape. Your body is so sexy.”

“Sexy?” Your nose crinkles. “You think I’m sexy?”

“Unbelievably sexy.”

You consider this for a moment. Then – “Well… I guess if you think so, maybe I’m okay.”

“No, not just okay, but-”

“Sexy, right?” You finish his sentence for him, a glint in your eyes.

“Right! Sexy.” He purrs the word.

“Say it one more time.”

“Only if you promise to stop this talk of dieting.”

“Deal.”

“Sexy.”

Jimin: “But I bought all these biscuits for you!” Jimin gazes at the plate of cream-coated cookies in distress, then back up at you, his eyebrows furrowing. This isn’t how he imagined you accepting his date-night gift.

You grin sheepishly. “Sorry… I forgot to tell you I was starting a diet.”

“Can’t you leave it till tomorrow?”

Your mouth pops open in mock horror. “That would be cheating!”

“In all seriousness though, dieting’s no fun. Just one… they’re really tasty. Just take one.” As he says this, he picks up a cookie, and bites into it slowly, never breaking eye-contact with you. It’s a challenge. (Eat one! I dare you!)

You give in. Of course you do. It’s Jimin. Leaning towards him, you kiss some of the crumbs off the corner of his mouth, then, with the taste of sugar fresh on your tongue, you concede, “Maybe one or two couldn’t hurt.” A smug grin paints itself across Jimin’s face as you reach for the plate.

Tomorrow. You can start your diet tomorrow…

Taehyung: Taehyung doesn’t understand it. To him, you’re the most beautiful person he’s ever laid eyes on – you’re prettier than diamonds, and stardust, and wildflowers, and sunsets, and the pictures of waterfalls they stick on travel brochures. You do. Despite all the negative thoughts that are bubbling around you, you manage to smile, and that’s all Taehyung needs to smile too.

“There, right there, that’s what perfection looks like.” He frames your face with his fingers, then slips his hands on down to your shoulders, looping around you and pulling you close.

“Dieting…” you say past a mouthful of lettuce leaves, “Quit looking at me like that. I’m not speaking an alien language. D-i-e-t-i-n-g. Dieting.”

A shrug is his answer. “I’ve just been feeling… I don’t know… ugly lately.”

Your eyes trail up to his. “You’re just saying that because you’re my boyfriend - you have to say nice things.”

“No way!” He leans further over the table, cupping your face in his hands, “Listen, if you want to diet for your health – fine. But I don’t ever want you thinking you’re ugly, because -  honestly! cross my heart and hope to die! - you are-” (he leans forward and kisses you) “- gorgeous.”

The vast majority of apologist posts that I see about Maximoff are ‘but she was orphaned and is all alone’ or ‘she had no-one to teach her right from wrong’. Or, even better ‘she deserves our pity’. Like being an orphan gives her a free pass. And yet:

Clinton Barton: Orphaned at an early age. Had no-one to teach him right from wrong yet he became a government agent and a superhero. Somehow Clint figured out all by himself that some shit is wrong.

Natasha Romanoff: Assumed to be an orphan. Is indoctrinated as an assassin/spy and yet, Natasha still knows that the ‘red in her ledger’ needs to be erased.

Anthony Stark: An orphan also. Is raised by a very dominant male to believe that weapons are a good thing but still realizes that something is wrong, is very wrong with this and spends the rest of his life atoning for it.

Yet large swathes of fandom think, and have no problem verbalizing, how Tony is evil incarnate. That he has ‘no conscious’ and Is only ‘in it for himself’. Meanwhile, Maximoff has no problem living in Tony’s home free of charge, eating his food (and, assuredly, since she has no visible means of income) letting him clothe her too, all while telling no-one that she fucked with his mind to the point of global destruction.

There’s a word for that and it isn’t ‘pity’.

The word you are looking for is ‘bullshit’.

I met the manager when I was walking to the convenience store with friends, so I was street casted, and went to Korea. They asked me if I knew After School and Son Dambi-sunbaenim, we then shot some videos, and then I got in. At first I was only curious, but then it became increasingly interesting, so I wanted to continue.
