food for work

HEY IT’S A (really late) VALENTINE’S DAY SEQUEL TO THIS! You should really look at that to understand what’s going on, but as a quick backstory to this, Adrien found out the scarf he thought his dad gave him was from Marinette, it upset him too much so he gave it back to her.

And then I hated that it was just angst so I made this to make up for it? What started as a one page thing turned into a too-many-pages thing. Hence being like… 2 weeks later for V-day. Oh well! Enjoy!

Also, as for what Marinette actually got Adrien…

RIP me, I'm unemployed bc of my out of state move and Im so desperate i might just apply at another Toko Hell bc I have experience there but the idea of starting new and dealing with fast food customers again is already stressing me out heck lmao

Hun, I’m going to speak from experience. My husband and I agreed when we got married that I would be a stay at home mom for a while(a mistake). Even when we got to a point where we were desperate enough for me to apply it still didn’t happen because I did not have much experience for a LONG time and I was a tad picky(I hate fast food work). Don’t be picky. We live in a world that values experience and how long it’s been since that experience occured. I went for YEARS without work because I was at home caring for my children while my husband worked. When we came into a situation where he was without work we were screwed until we realized that the employment world wasn’t on our side. Never look down on retail or fast food work because society does. You earn money, you can eat, you have a roof over your head. It was a huge mistake on our part to not try every single avenue. I’m not saying that you shouldn’t look for better, just find something to tide you over until that perfect job comes along. You cannot go without until that does come. We waited for 6 years until my husband settled on mart of walls(which treats him better than every small business he’s ever worked, tbh). It’s unrealistic to go without work in hope that you’ll come across that perfect job. Climbing up the ladder starts with the bottom rung, even if you fall after climbing once or twice. Every career starts somewhere. Even a lot of billionaires have started without a college degree, or even a GED, but are where they are now. Just because you are in an unappreciated field doesn’t mean it’s forever. It just pays the bills for now, which is important for making sure you are fed and sheltered for the battle the next day and the next until you get your opportunity. We will always be here for you when you need to vent because retail/fast food does suck, but it is better than waiting. Keep yourself going until you find that path or door to better. It’s there, you just have to make sure you don’t give up before it comes. Keep applying, keep working hard. Just because you’re in retail or fast food doesn’t mean you have to give up, it just means you value your survival! Too many acdept their fate or give up too soon! Don’t do that to yourself! -Abby

This is probably a really dumb question, so I'm sorry in advance, but how liberal is the Houston area?

not a dumb question at all!

houston is pretty liberal. it’s a blue county (harris). pretty sure they’ve almost always had democratic mayors. last mayor was a lesbian and the current mayor is a black man. it’s the most diverse “metro area” in the country, like… of course there’s still mad republicans here (it is texas after all) but? it’s pretty liberal i mean it’s the 4th largest city in america, so….. .. . i feel like we get forgotten about lmao but yeah it’s pretty nice here which is part of why i’m hesitant to leave it for east texas aka trumpland

Hidden Figures: Freda DeKnight #BlackHERstoryMonth 25/28

Freda DeKnight was the first food editor of Ebony magazine and the author of A Date With A Dish: A Cookbook of American Negro Recipes, considered the first major cookbook written by an African-American for an African-American audience. Born in Kansas and raised by farmers that also ran a successful catering business, DeWight grew up with a lifelong interest in food and received a degree in home economics from South Dakota Wesleyan College. After graduating, she traveled to New York and was hired as a food columnist. She worked her way up to editor.

in 1948, DeKnight published her only cookbook, the popular and well-received ‘Date With A Dish: A Cookbook Of Negro Recipes.’ DeKnight documented the breadth and depth of African-American culinary know-how and pushed a glamorous and professional take on Black culture that challenged common stereotypes. She also rose to the position of home service director at Johnson Publishing, home of Ebony, and in 1957, she staged the first Ebony Fashion Fair.

She died in 1963, from cancer. She was 54.

hi i have $20 can kenji like straight up murder me?? u can have the money i won't need it when i'm dead (rly tho i just went through like most of ur tag for him i love The Boy v much. and also ur art style is like pretty as hell???)

Kenji will probably just throw those 20$ out bc he’s a lazy motherfucker who doesn’t want to go a foreign exchange place to convert it to Danish Krone that he can actually use, so if you would like those 20$ not to go to waste either 1) convert it to the right currency 2) just buy him food that works pretty well and also that way he would enjoy murdering you a bit more uwu
(ily thank you very much for thinking so about him and my art style <3)

A LazyTown Ship Week ideas.

Ok.  So i’ve had the idea for a LazyTown ship week for a while.  It’ll be in March or April (most likely i’ll make another blog for it.).  But i want to know what themes do you guys like best for the days.  So far i have.

Just send in an ask or reply the ones you want to do the most, and if you have any ideas for days let me know i can add it to the list.

Everyone talks about how shitty and stupid customers are, why don’t we ever talk about the cool ones?

-Bilingual children translating for their parents/grandparents like a boss

-The drunk guy you had to deny a sale to and he took it so well and maybe even thanked you for keeping him safe

-The random peeps in a long check out line who stop to tell you you’re doing an amazing job

-The regulars who have your back when someone starts giving you a hard time

-Customers who let you know to keep an eye on someone for shoplifting

-Bros who insist on cleaning up their own mess/spill

-The really upbeat/cheery mom/aunt type customer that just kind of brightens your day a bit

Feel free to add, you guys. You know who they are, let’s give them some love.

21 days

It’s supposed to take 21 days before doing something becomes a habit.

So just think.

21 days without binging could be a lifetime of self-control.

21 days of not eating after 6 could mean always waking up skinny.

21 days of actually working out could mean a lifetime of thin.

21 days.
