Ever imagined you could serve a HUGE meal and get away at the very end with a tea or coffee accompanied by some small but sinfully sweet squares? There’s a way! The other night, for my cousin’s birthday, I served a rather hearty Italian meal that included pasta asciutta, bistec a la fiorentina, a micro-greens salad, and all supported by the sturdy pillars of bread and wine. What was to be done about dessert? With a lactose intolerant soon-to-be father-in-law and little ol’ gluten-free me, I was stumped for a light dessert that would sate my sweet tooth and agree with everyone’s stomach. It hit me that what we needed was a little plate of Pistachio and Orange Blossom Turkish Delight with Lime Marshmallows to go with a cup of tea or coffee. It’s a light dessert plate with a touch of spring/summer thrown in. It all came together splendidly and everyone enjoyed this little treat most. Plus, if there are leftovers…wrap them up in cute little packaging for party favors! I included some fresh herbs from my garden in the gift bag, because I have too many and they smell divine.
