Robin

Robin’s editing has been on point lately and I couldn’t be more grateful to be part of this community. We all know that Seán gets acknowledged and thanked but I feel like we sometimes forget about Robin. It’s easy to forget about everything he actually contributes to this community we have because he is often the unseen support.

It’s because of Robin that Seán has been able to relax a bit and focus more on the videos since last year. He doesn’t have to worry about hours of editing because he has someone as trustworthy as Robin to rely on.

While Seán gets to focus on the content Robin is also able to add things that may otherwise not have been added. His comedic effects really make the videos seem more personal. Like we are sharing jokes with the editor about someone we both have a connection to. It’s hard to describe but it feels more like a spontaneous family event of unexpected fun rather than something we can predict.

Robin has also become an amazing friend to Seán and I think we can appreciate him for that just as much as Seán does. Seeing someone you admire or look up to happy with friends gives us a sense of contentment. How could we ever ignore Robin when he plays such a significant role in and out of YouTube? He just seems like too nice of a guy to be left under appreciated.

So thank you @pixlpit for your hand in our and Sean’s happiness. I couldn’t imagine this community without you. ❤️

Blurring lines, dancing shadows, a moment of disorientation, of liberating silence.
Diffidently her nose detects a pleasant rough scent in the sticky air. She can hear the comforting breath of a familiar person, can feel the velvety fibers of her very own bed. Tentatively she allows her light green eyes to open up only to find herself in a well known ambiance – a small room, her room, seemingly set aflame by vibrant shades of red and orange that the dying day has left behind. Blinded by an overwhelming amount of sensory input she scans her surroundings when all of a sudden a gentle touch awakens her from a brief state of unknowingness. Shock waves of sparkling electricity spreading through her nerves, her skin, her bones. Her blood infected with an urgent craving, a boiling fever. She can feel a set of rather rough fingers playfully dancing over her shoulder in a surprisingly elegant, smooth almost weightless manner. Her mind is pushing her to turn around, to catch a glimpse of the gifted puppeteer yet her body remains the way it is now, sitting on the edge of the mattress with her eyes almost glued to the door. For the fraction of a second the situation seems odd and forbidding … chained by her curiosity and the beat of her hungry heart, she is a captive of this moment. Seemingly inexhaustible the fingers keep dancing over her soft skin … from her bare collarbone all the way down to her trembling chest – an unwinding flow, a sensitive back and forth. Suddenly a deep and calm voice starts whispering foreign sounding spells into her vigilant ear thus breaking the sheer everlasting silence – words of unthinkable passion fueling the blazing fire burning within her veins.

“I know what you want …. I know what you need”
Visibly caught by surprise she finally manages to break her invisible chains for the blink of an eye. Hastily she turns around only to find her bed completely empty. There was no one behind her, he was not behind her. Who or what was she even expecting to find as a brief wave of disappointment rushes through her entire body.
“Over here…”
The familiar voice is calling from where her eyes were locked for what felt like hours before. Now she is able to take a reassuring look at her accommodator – strong shoulders, a skin gently kissed by the sun, a pair of dark brown eyes and smoothly gelled back hair.

“Zig?” she asks in disbelief. No reply. Stoically he remains standing there in the middle of the room staring at her with the intensity of a thousand suns. Her mind is actively trying to fight his gaze although deep down inside she knew all too well that this war was already lost. Almost reflexively she is biting her bottom lip thus inviting him to reignite the wildfire within her system. A poised smirk appears on his glowing face as he slowly makes his way over to her. Every step he takes sends shivers down her spine, so rough and yet elegant.  Finally he is within her reach, carefully leaning down until their faces are only inches apart. In his eyes she can see a mesmerizing dance of shadow and light, of warm earth tones and an eternal fire. Her olfactory sense inebriated, enchanted, blessed by the subtle smell of his cologne. Teasingly he plants a quick kiss on her tingling lips leaving her wanting the whole world and more.
“I knew it” he whispers as his tongue quickly darts over the soft surface of his upper lip. A white flag raised, the voices within her head stopped screaming. From this moment onward her flaming heart would take control over every inch of her body. Finally laying down her armor, laying down her guard.
“Shut up” she replies without even thinking twice as she pulls him into yet another kiss – passionate, deep, sensual. In a whirl of raging passion the wandering kisses grow more and more intense – on and off her lips, along her smooth jaw line, down her throbbing throat, passing her joyful singing heart, her arching ribs, her inbound bellybutton. The path of his deliberately planted kisses would not end on the lowest point of her abdomen though. She could feel his warm breath at the very center of her deepest desire. There, at the horizon of all her expectations his tongue keeps skillfully moving in curved lines, small circles, sharp angles – breathy sounds fleeing her mouth, her hands entangled in his thick hair, her head pressed into the soft fibers of her pillow. Even at the peak of lust her restless body is craving for more. In a movement as swift as an arrow she pulls his head up and rips off the white shirt from his broad chest. Her fingers smoothly gliding over the contours of his bulging biceps, passing his muscular neck, up and down the mountains and valleys she found under his heart. Determined to fuel the fiercely dancing flames inside of her once more she unravels his belt to finally be able to hastily remove his tight jeans. As she lets herself fall back onto the mattress he cautiously crawls on top of her - face to face, skin to skin. This is all she ever wanted, all she ever needed. In this very moment she is able to feel his consistently fast beating heart as she digs her fingers into his muscular back. As two hearts become one her eyes are closed. She finds herself waiting for everything he has to offer to her, her soul, her body … waiting for an explosion of passion, waiting for the final spark….

Blurring lines, dancing shadows, a moment of disorientation, of liberating silence.
Where just one second ago was a raging fire suddenly only black smoke and white mist is left…. The heat is gone, he is gone but her unfulfilled craving, her hunger for everything she just saw, heard, smelled and felt remains constant throughout fantasy and reality.

The magical attributes of the DIY’S according to the herbs used are highlighted in the contents section below in brackets. You can choose one or multiple attributes to focus on while using these products to match your intent.

Contents:

1. Floral facial steam: Leaves your face feeling fresh AF, smelling good. (Protection, love, centering and psychic power)

2. Rose & chamomile bath bags: Relaxing AF, smells good, SUPER CLENSING. (Protection, centering and meditation)

3. Clay and Lavender face mask: We all know clay is dope for our skin, and lavender can never go wrong. (Peace, protection, love, purification)

4. Peppermint foot scrub: Leaves your feet feeling and smelling FIIIINEEE. (Travel, money, healing, luck, strength)

LETS GET STARTED

1. Floral facial steam

YOU WILL NEED (The ingredients below are per 6 treatments so multiply it for as many treatments as you’d like):

-3 100ml jars

-2/3 cup of lavender buds, dried

-1/3 cup of rose petals, dried

-2/3 cup chamomile flowers, dried

METHOD:

Mix up the herbs ad divide them into each jar (roughly half a cup each)

HOW TO USE:

• Remove make up or dirt by using a gentle cleanser
• Place herbs in a heatproof bowl (use 4 tablespoons herbs per treatment – each jar is enough for 2 treatments)
• Pour one pint of boiling water into a heat proof bowl (USE MOON WATER FOR EXTRA BENEFITS)
• Place bowl on a sturdy surface (like a table) and lower face over the bowl (it’s usually best to sit in a chair that is pulled up close to a table)
• Place a towel over your head to create a tent over the bowl (the towel helps the steam stay close to the face and not evaporate into the air so quickly)
• Stay here for about 15 to 20 minutes- while you are here start by centring yourself, and then think about your intent and what you wish for the herb to bring to you, imagine the steam cleansing away any negativity.

BOOOM YOU ARE NOW CLEANSED AF AND SMELLING CUTEEEE.

2. Rose & chamomile bath bags

YOU WILL NEED (The ingredients below are per 3 treatments so multiply it for as many treatments as you’d like):

-3 Muslin bags

-¾ cup dried rose petals

-¾ cup dried chamomile flowers

-1 ½ cup epsom salts

METHOD:
Mix all the ingredients in a large bowl. Place 1 cup of mixture in each muslin bag. Tie the top of each bag to close tightly.

HOW TO USE:

To use bath tea bag, tie bag to faucet so the water runs through it as the bath fills. Once the bath is full of warm water, remove the bag from the faucet and let it float in the bath. Soak for at least 15 minutes - while doing so, remember to relax, centre yourself, remember your intent and what you wish to get out of this treatment and imagine the salts and hot water clensing away any negative energy.

BOOOOM NOW U R CLENSED AF AND SMELLIN FRESH

3. Clay and Lavender face mask

YOU WILL NEED (once again makes 3 , adjust to your liking):

-3 100 ml jars

-½ cup lavender flower powder

-1 1/8 cup white cosmetic clay

METHOD:

Mix up and divide into jars, roughly half a cup per jar.

HOW TO USE:

At time of use, mix 1 tablespoon of lavender-clay mix with 2-3 teaspoons of water, cooled chamomile tea, or hydrosol, until a paste forms. Spread over the face, avoiding the eyes. Leave for 15 minutes. This mask draws out toxins and negative energy so make sure to visualise the clay mask absorbing the negative energy for maximum effect, meanwhile, pour your intent into this procedure and absorb the lavender and mother earth’s clay into your system. Wash off with warm water and a wash cloth.

BOOOM yo face is untoxic AF super clensed, and smelling damn fineeee.

4. Peppermint foot scrub

What you need (MAKES 3):

-3 250-300(ish)ml jars

-1/3 cup fine sea salt or epsom salt

-Few drops peppermint essential oil

-¼ cup dried peppermint leaves

METHOD:

Mix ingredients in bowl, divide into jars, roughly 1 cup per jar.

HOW TO USE:

Rub into damp foot in circular motions. Our feet pick up alot of negative energy, and are important because they take us places in the physical world, make sure to focus on your intent and drawing out the negative energy.

AND THERE YOU HAVE IT! YOU SMELL FRESH FROM HEAD TO TOE, CLENSED THOROUGHLY, EVERY PART OF YOUR BODY, LOVED!

Arophobic Microaggressions: On the Ace Community and Should-Be Allies

Just some technical things, before I start talking: The bulk of the post will be under the cut, and you can find a version in Google Docs here. Non a-specs need to keep comments in the tags or to themselves, as this is an intracommunity issue, and REGs need to keep their hands off: you are not welcome in my community nor on my posts. Please be aware that I do respond to replies, publicly, especially if they’re hateful or in disagreement. If you want a private conversation, message me. If you’d like to read more, check out the Google Doc linked above for recommended reading or my aromanticism page. Thank you to @aro-allo-positivity for his help in editing this post.

In the past couple years, we’ve talked a lot about ace issues - from oppression to validation, and from discussion to action. Activists have campaigned to be included in LGBTQIANP+ organizations and succeeded in being recognized to various degrees. As an aroace woman, I’m very happy to see issues I face being talked about, and action being taken to bring awareness to my orientation. Interacting with acespec bloggers also means I see the problems, and arophobia is a pervasive problem in acespec communities. I’ve talked about it in the past, a bit, but only at surface level. The last post I made about arophobia got 1,700ish notes, and is still getting reblogged today. After making that post, I started noticing more and more arophobia, coming from even large acespec bloggers. I decided to write this post to help people notice arophobic microagressions (the macroaggressions are pretty obvious, generally) and be better allies to the aro community.

Here’s two pictures that I had done as part of an art trade with a very good friend over at RidiculousCake, They’re his super-cute OC’s Basil (top) and Messy (bottom). He’s recently made a big jump from doing fan iterations of existing characters and has started to focus much more heavily on his own original content, and I am nothing but excited for what he’s going to do in the near and far future. Yall better get in on the ground floor and follow him now so you can be there when it all breaks!

With state budget in crisis, many Oklahoma schools hold classes four days a week
Ninety-six districts have shortened the school week, nearly triple as many as in 2015.

A deepening budget crisis here has forced schools across the Sooner State to make painful decisions. Class sizes have ballooned, art and foreign-language programs have shrunk or disappeared, and with no money for new textbooks, children go without. Perhaps the most significant consequence: Students in scores of districts are now going to school just four days a week.

The shift not only upends what has long been a fundamental rhythm of life for families and communities. It also runs contrary to the push in many parts of the country to provide more time for learning — and daily reinforcement — as a key way to improve achievement, especially among poor children.

But funding for classrooms has been shrinking for years in this deep-red state as lawmakers have cut taxes, slicing away hundreds of millions of dollars in annual revenue in what some Oklahomans consider a cautionary tale about the real-life consequences of the small-government approach favored by Republican majorities in Washington and statehouses nationwide.

School districts staring down deep budget holes have turned to shorter weeks in desperation as a way to save a little bit of money and persuade increasingly hard-to-find teachers to take some of the nation’s lowest-paying jobs.

Of 513 school districts in Oklahoma, 96 have lopped Fridays or Mondays off their schedules — nearly triple the number in 2015 and four times as many as in 2013. An additional 44 are considering cutting instructional days by moving to a four-day week in the fall or by shortening the school year, the Oklahoma State School Boards Association found in a survey last month.

“I don’t think it’s right. I think our kids are losing out on education,” said Sandy Robertson, a grandmother of four in Newcastle, a fast-growing rural community set amid wheat and soybean fields south of Oklahoma City. “They’re trying to cram a five-day week into a four-day week.”

Oklahoma is not the only state where more students are getting three-day weekends, a concept that dates to the 1930s. The number is climbing slowly across broad swaths of the rural big-sky West, driven by a combination of austere budgets, fuel-guzzling bus rides and teacher shortages that have turned four-day weeks into an important recruiting tool.

The four-day week is a “contagion,” said Paul Hill, a research professor at the University of Washington Bothell who has studied the phenomenon in Idaho and who worries that the consequences of the shift — particularly for poor kids — are unknown.

But in other states, the Great Recession sparked a spike in the growth of four-day weeks that has since slowed, according to data collected by The Washington Post. Oklahoma stands out for the velocity with which districts have turned to a shorter school week in the past several years, one of the most visible signs of a budget crisis that has also shuttered rural hospitals, led to overcrowded prisons and forced state troopers to abide by a 100-mile daily driving limit.

Democrats helped pass bipartisan income tax cuts from 2004 to 2008. Republicans — who have controlled the legislature since 2009 and governorship since 2011 — have cut income taxes further and also significantly lowered taxes on oil and gas production.

“The problems facing Oklahoma are our own doing. There’s not some outside force that is causing our schools not to be able to stay open,” said state Sen. John Sparks, the chamber’s top Democrat. “These are all the result of a bad public policy and a lack of public-sector investment.

But Gov. Mary Fallin ® said a downturn in the energy sector and a decreasing sales tax revenue have led to several “very difficult budget years.”

The governor said in an email to The Post that she thinks “students are better served by five-day weeks” because moving to four days requires a longer school day. That makes it “hard for students, especially in the early grades, to focus on academic content during the late hours of the day,” she said.

Facing a $900 million budget gap, lawmakers approved a budget Friday that will effectively hold school funding flat in the next year. In Washington, President Trump has proposed significant education cuts that would further strain local budgets.

‘We’ve cut so much for so long’

Few states have schools that are worse off.

Oklahoma’s education spending has decreased 14 percent per child since 2008, according to the left-leaning Center on Budget and Policy Priorities, and the state in 2014 spent just $8,000 per student, according to federal data. Only Arizona, Idaho and Utah spent less.

“We’ve cut so much for so long that the options just are no longer there,” said Deborah Gist, superintendent in Tulsa, a district that still holds classes five days a week but plans to merge schools and eliminate more than three dozen teaching positions.

This year has been particularly tough, as repeated revenue shortfalls have left districts facing midyear cuts. “I’ve done this job a long time, and this is the hardest I’ve ever had it,” said Tony O’Brien, superintendent of Newcastle schools, which have about 2,300 students.

O’Brien said the schedule change helped Newcastle shave about $110,000 out of its $12 million annual budget, savings that equal more than two teachers. The savings come mostly from shutting off building utilities on Fridays and from using less diesel fuel to run buses. Teacher salaries — the bulk of any district’s cost — didn’t change.

Experts say four-day weeks don’t save much money. In Newcastle and elsewhere, school leaders say the biggest benefit has been attracting and retaining teachers in some of the nation’s lowest-paying jobs.

This is what Austerity looks like.  Police aren’t on patrol, hospitals are shutting down, schools are failing our children.  This is a government so small it isn’t a government anymore.

You eyes flutter open, blinking several times as they focus on the clouds above your head. Their contents now empty, leaving behind light grey traces of mother nature’s fury. Sand was under your fingertips, but you didn’t know how it had gotten there. And although the storm was strong, the current wasn’t enough to drag you from the docks all the way to the beach. Especially not when your foot was caught in a fisherman’s net.

The cool post-storm air stings your lungs as your body tries to push out the rest of the salt from your system. Soreness setting into your bones as you slowly push yourself up off the beach. You look around, searching for possible clues as to how you got here. But there is not a human in sight. No one but you was stupid enough to be around the docks during one of those storms.

A long groan escapes your lips when you realize your phone is still in your pocket. You pull out the soaked device. There was no way a bag of rice was going to fix it. Jimin had probably already called the coast guard to send a search and rescue team to find his idiot lab partner. You knew that once he laid eyes on you, after making sure your limbs were still attached, he was going to chew your ass out for making him have a heart attack. He would be clutching at his chest, sending you on a very long guilt trip for the rest of your time together.

Out of corner of your eye you see it. A flash of red against the grey storm. Your wet hands paw at your shirt, trying to clean off as much wet sand as you can before you rub your eyes. You had to be seeing things. Slowly, you stand up from where you had washed a shore. The soreness of your legs making the short trek to the water seem like it was a thousand miles away.

It’s not until you’re waist deep in the water that he even brings his eyes up to meet yours. His fast is much different, older, but still very much the same. The two of you stare at each other in silence and you’re not sure if he recognizes you. After all, it had been almost 15 years since the first and last time you saw each other.

You reach your arm out tentatively unsure if you had in fact swallowed too much sea water. Or maybe you had actually drowned and were now stuck in a dream. But your hands hit skin as your palms cupped his face.

He felt too real to be a dream.

It was announced that Netflix will make a TV series based on The Witcher books and most people are missing the point….as in they hope to see events that are game-only on the screen. Since it’s been said clearly that it’s going to be based on the books, I don’t get how people don’t understand that. Sapkowski will be working with the team and I trust him to wield a metaphorical whip each time they will try to screw up with his characters. I hope they take inspiration from what GoT did well, but also learn from GoT’s mistakes. The Witcher books are a lot shorter and the number of characters isn’t as big as those present in ASOIAF which might actually be a very good thing. The main characters are Ciri, Geralt and Yen. What could the show focus on? Obviously the books. There is lots of quality content in them and you are missing out if you don’t wanna read them and just limit yourself to the third game. What we could actually see in the show: Geralt and Dandelion roaming the world and going on adventures, Geralt meeting Yen and the outcome of their interaction with the djin, meeting Borch Three Jackdaws, Geralt fighting the striga, Geralt meeting a pregnant Pavetta and Duny and the events that take place at that feast etc. There’s really a lot of amazing moments that would look great on screen as there are short stories and the saga.

Who will be the actors? Nothing is sure as of now, but Sapkowski said at an event that years ago he would have liked Kevin Costner to play Geralt, but since he is too old now, he also said he would like Mads Mikkelsen. I think the author knows best haha how his characters actually look. If it’s going to be Mads or someone else….since it’s based on the books I expect to see characters looking different from the games. A few examples:

-Geralt has dark eyes (not permanent cat eyes like in the games) and hates having a beard.

-Yen looks very youthful (she has the skin of a 16 year old) and has a mane of curly black hair (not the flat and almost straight hair she has in the games), her face is also distinctive (long nose, receding chin, pronounced cheekbones etc). I see many fans favoring Eva Green….but I think she’s not exactly the right pick since she is not that youthful looking (she’s gorgeous don’t get me wrong). I hope they will keep her striking purple eyes and not go the GOT way of stripping Daenerys of her famous purple eyes. It doesn’t even have to be full on contacts. If they use an actress with light colored eyes they can apply a discrete purple tint in post production in close-up scenes.

-Triss has chestnut hair (not fiery red) and she doesn’t wear plunging necklines due to the scar she has on her chest. She’s also not as prominent in the books as she  is in the games…as in she has very few scenes (I think Dandelion is more prominent than her). There is also no additional romance between her and Geralt since that one time when she used magic to sleep with him. I think this might put some fans off, but the books are the books and that’s how it is in them.

-Ciri-> I’ve seen some fancasting that is hilarious: Margot Robbie and Cara Delevingne. Again…people are missing the point. When Ciri meets Geralt in Brokilon she is 10-11 and at the end of the last book she is a teenager (15-16 years old)…so it’s more likely they will choose a child actor that grows up with every season (similar to what GoT did with the Stark children). Ciri is often described as scrawny so I can’t see how someone like Margot Robbie could play her. Galahad describes Ciri as being a girl, not yet a woman.
