How to take notes from a textbook

Knowing what to and what not to write down from a textbook is a often an issue when studying. Should I include this or is that completely necessary? Hopefully these few tips will help anyone struggle to use their textbook!

  • Read the textbook prior to taking notes - This helps give you a solid understanding of the material so you can summarise and shorten your notes. Have a good understanding is great to help shorten your notes, since you can avoid copying the menial information.
  • Highlight some key points, terms and concepts before taking notes - Remember not to over-highlight, keep it brief and minimal; key words, facts, and statistics!
  • Have a colour coding system - This helps to visualise your notes when trying to memorise information and also makes your notes more effective material to learn from. Making sure you’re using the same colours for highlighting your textbook and writing your notes. My colour coding system can be found here.
  • Use the layout of the textbook to organise your notes - I found copying the headings and subheadings really helped simplify and ensure I was learning each section. It’s much easy to find information when you’re skimming through notes. This also ensures that you can remember what topic areas relate to others, meaning you can add more into your essays under exam conditions!
  • Include different ways to show the information - Use mindmaps, bullet points, graphs, flow chats, and post-it notes to help visualise the content. Breaking up your notes with graphics is a good way to avoid full pages of writing and great for memorising statistics or key elements of a topic.
  • Supplement your notes - Use other textbooks and your own research to expand the depth of your notes. This is highly important for subjects that can require evidence, statistics and evaluations. Making sure this information is embedded into your notes is great for writing essays.
  • Add your own personal touch - Add doodles, acronyms, and abbreviations to help your study. Little things that make important information unique and standout will help you recall it later!
  • Summarise each chapter - Make a final summary of each chapter using sticky notes or flash cards. Once you’ve read your textbook, you’ll have a collection of chapter summaries ready to study from.

Each of these tips have helped me recreate notes that are well-rounded and full of brief but useful information. I hope this information helps. Let me know if it does!

I really like the idea of Sidon and Link just kind of hanging out, maybe sitting on a warm rock beside a flowing river, chatting away. Link is gesturing a lot because he largely uses his hands to properly communicate, and outta nowhere, Sidon just kind of reaches across, takes one of Link’s hands into his own, brings it over to him and then proceeds to spend a long while just marveling over how small Link’s hands are, running his fingers over Link’s scarred knuckles, his calloused palm and just whispering ‘they’re so tiny, your hands are so small’

Link, meanwhile, is sitting there, utterly confused and a little flustered at the attention. He doesn’t really know how to handle the attention so he just sits there quietly as Sidon fawns over his hands

Hey Emy, I don't think this is a popular opinion but I sometimes wish that Brian never said "I love you" to Justin because he has always shown his love through actions, which counts more than words. Maybe it could be their own unique way of saying "fuck you" to conventionality, and of celebrating their love for one another? That being said, I still love that scene and the proposal even though I wish they took a different direction with the execution of the final season.

I get it, I do. I think one of the things that makes the Brian/Justin relationship so special is we could feel how much they loved each other, even without saying them saying the words, which isn’t the case for a lot of fictional relationships. Their love for each other shown through in every look, touch, and action, and that’s something really special to get to witness.

But I still think it was important for Brian to say those words, for a couple of reasons. First of all, because it was important to Justin to hear them, which is entirely valid. But also because it’s really about more than just the words themselves. Everybody knows Brian loves Justin, including Justin. Everybody sees it. But so long as Brian doesn’t say the words, he has an escape. If something should happen – if Justin leaves, or if Brian fucks everything up, or their relationship somehow implodes and leads to the type of pain he always said love induces – he can continue to hide behind the “I never loved him” facade. He can pretend Justin never meant anything to him, that he’s entirely unaffected by their relationship, that he’s still the same man he always was.

But by explicitly telling Justin he loves him, Brian is taking a huge step in his emotional growth. All his fears he’s had about love, all his anxieties about relationships… they don’t matter anymore. Neither does his need to always be the one in control nor his desire to smother any sign of weakness or vulnerability. Brian is completely, utterly, irrevocably in love with Justin, and he’s not allowing fear to force him to keep that emotion hidden any longer.

That’s why I personally think it’s super important Brian ultimately said the words. Not because romantic couples need to say “I love you,” because as we’ve already established, everybody and their mother (literally) knows Brian loves Justin more than anything. But because it showed that the last of Brian’s walls that prevented him from fully opening up to another person. Brian’s entire journey in QAF was about getting to this point, where he can truly drop the Brian Kinney Persona and just be Brian, a man with a huge heart who learns to trust people in ways he never has before and be emotionally vulnerable with them and not care about the consequences.

I do totally get what you’re saying, even though I respectfully disagree. However, I have no doubt that even though the words have now been exchanged, Brian and Justin will continue showing each other just how very much they love each other every single day for the rest of their lives. <33

Hey! I just wanted to know what's going on with dan and something about an interview? And if you knew anything about it because of your recent post...I'm sorry I'm annoying

1) the dan thing
he said on twitter (x) that he was going for a walk with ‘a senpai he wanted to spend time with’ and people are joking that he’s on a date (especially because of the recent instagram drama surrounding #phanisoverparty) but it’s really just a joke the only tea is that he went outside, he apparently isn’t with phil and there isn’t a liveshow tonight

2) the interview thing
flipside talent (the people who manage dnp) tweeted (x) that dnp will be going to edinburgh to be interviewed by sue perkins (uk national treasure and former host of the great british bakeoff) and nobody knows why edinburgh and why sue perkins and everyone is on edge because it feels like dnp might be doing something? honestly nobody knows least of all me but it’s fun to speculate wtf those boys are up to now

also, more interestingly (in my opinion) on the website that sells tickets to the interview (x) there’s a description of the event and the part that is messing people up is

‘join them for a free-flowing and funny chat about fame, resisting definition, comedy and cakes’

what is resisting definition? what definition are they resisting? does it have anything to do with their sexualities and/or relationship? is it something else entirely? would dnp talk about personal things like that in an interview?? are they gonna have a super gay chat with sue perkins??? honestly i have no idea what it means and i guess we’ll have to find out next week except i’ll be gone when it happens because god hates me

Hi. Do you have any tips on taking notes during class? I want to have decent looking notes without doing much rewriting. Thank you.

Hi! Here are a few things:

  • always add a title and dates to your notes - Knowing when you learnt a particular topic can be handy for when exams are coming up and you need to study or when you need to organise your notes. Dates can also give you an indication of when you should be revising the material to ensure your remember it. Have a look at this post, it outlines the curve of forgetting and can help you determine when you should start studying.
  • read the textbook/reading material prior to your class - This helps give you an outline of the material so you can summarise and shorten your notes. You also have the opportunity to clarify anything you might not have understood from just reading.
  • use the layout of the textbook or syllabus to organise your notes - I found copying the headings and subheadings really helped simplify my notes and helped to ensure I was learning each section. If this is not for you, use the titles given by your teachers as mentioned before!
  • include different ways to show the information - Use mindmaps, bullet points, graphs, flow chats and symbols to help visualise the content. This also helps break up large blocks of text which can be boring to read. If you are like me and a bit of perfectionist, do these on a post-it note so it doesn’t have to be perfect or take up a lot of room!
  • have a small colour coding system - An extensive colour coding system is tricky to use in fast-paced classes where the teacher is quick to move on. Using a mixture of black, blue and red pens can help differentiate parts of your notes without having to change your pen constantly. My colour coding system can be found here.
  • make note of what your teacher is saying - They’re knowledgable in your subjects so be sure to pay attention to what is being said and not just what is on the board or powerpoint. You can use small post-it notes for this kind of thing!
  • add your own personal touch - Draw doodles, acronyms, ribbons and abbreviations in your notes. You can check out this and this as inspiration. Also this masterpost has some links to help illustrate your notes.
  • avoid distractions - Whilst in class it’s obviously best to be focused. Try sitting where you can see and hear well, put away your phone and only use your laptop if necessary. Chatting to friends can also make you miss important information so if you don’t help but talk, sit away from them.

Hope this helps x

This is the most brilliant ask I will ever get. (Quick explanation - It’s prompted from my comment on this discussion on the v v nice @dictacontrion’s blog.)

Yes sweet anon, there is;  A brilliantly named study which I will link in the title: Ever so slightly longer but not quite as thick: Toward a quantitative literary sexology of Harry Potter fanfiction.

It’s also HILARIOUS and I was going to post a quote but I couldn’t pick one.

Enjoy!

Hello. I am relatively new to your blog and I was just wondering if you have some tips on studying? Like links and all about studying in general.

Hi! Welcome, I hope you decide to stick area hah! Some simple tips would be:

  • always add a title and dates to your notes - Knowing when you learnt a particular topic can be handy for when exams are coming up and you need to study or when you need to organise your notes. Dates can also give you an indication of when you should be revising the material to ensure your remember it. • make your study space productivity - make sure it is bright, clear and organised! Gather all the things you need so you don’t have to get up every 5 minutes. Also, if you can try to study away from your bed. You’ll be more inclined to sleep if you on it. Keep a glass of water and tissues close by.
  • set yourself up with a routine - this is how I prepare to study! It is a little weird but works for me. You’ll be able to develop your own!
  • pick out your top priorities - if you’re easily overwhelmed by long to-do lists, pick out the top three or five things that need to get done and focus on them.
  • remove all distractions - if you can reduce the amount of time you spend on homework, there is going to be a better chance of fitting in half an hour or hour of actual studying! My top tips for removing distractions include: using Forest to stay on task and not use my phone - you can see a post with lots of time management/productivity manage apps here; have a “brain dump”/“procrastination page” where you write down anything that bothers you during a study session!
  • don’t multitask - yes it is so tempting but it’s going to ruin your ability to focus on the actual class. Josh Kaufman says that with multitasking, you’re basically asking your brain to bring whatever you’re doing into working memory. By multitasking, you’re making your brain load and reload contexts over and over. Diverting your attention over and over is just going to tire out your brain and therefore, equal a loss of focus.
develop your discipline - this is the best way to get yourself into the habit of studying. By doing something each day, rewarding yourself and getting positive reinforcement you’ll be more inclined to study and not feel such strong resistance.listen to some music - I know it’s recommend to listen to instrumental music or soundtracks but honestly the music you enjoy is going to put you in a good mood. Blast it for a little bit, get hyped up! Then turn it down but have in low in the background. As long as it’s not taking over, there isn’t a problem having it playing quietly.
  • find a friend to help keep you accountable - friends are always looking out for you so why not get them to help you with your studies!? Tell them what you’ve got to do and allow them to keep up on your progress every now and then. Hopefully, you won’t want to let them down! x
nights for celebrations - jughead jones

Prompt: requested by an anon from my songfic list. Jughead and the gang have a night out with their Irish friend.

A/N (please read): YAY SO IM FROM IRELAND AND I GOT TRY WRITE THIS YAY THANKS ANIN. This ended up being deeply personal as I myself am Irish and so this ended up being my favourite thing I’ve ever written (surprise, surprise the irish river dale obsessed girl likes the jughead x irish reader thing she wrote Also, Y/N ended up being super like me so apologies but I did try to keep her as ambiguous as I could). I hope you guys enjoy it and the extra bits (actual, not stereotypical or made up) culture I put in. The Irish stereotypes really pisses me off (and to be honest I don’t really like St. Patrick’s Day. I know, blasphem), so there are parts of me mentioning this in here.

listen to carrickfergus here

 Warning: Cursing, drinking.

Words: 2014 oh god sorry it’s so long lol

It had been 10 months since Y/N Y/L/N had arrived on the scene from her native Ireland and if you said that she hadn’t stirred some variety into the small town of Riverdale, you’d be lying.

The night after herself and her family had arrived into town, she took a notion and fancied a burger. She found herself in your typical diner on the edge of town.

“Hiya, how’s it going? A burger and chips please. Sorry, fries.” You said to the dark haired lady behind the counter who smiled and you and took your order. Looking around the diner, you saw the place was busy enough, with one group of teenagers around her age sitting a few botths down. They were eyeing her out of the side of their eyes. Deciding to sit down and get out of their vantage point, Y/N pulled out a stool at the counter. Several moments later, an older man handed her the food and she thanked him as he looked at her with a quizzical smile. She noted they musn’t have many outsiders come into the town.

Just as she was finishing up her meal, a figure plopped into the seat opposite her. “Hey! I’m Veronica Lodge and I’m going to guess by the accent and the fact I don’t recognise you that you’re new around here.” The forwardness of the girl took you back a bit, but you laughed anyway.

“The accent stick out that much, huh? I’m Y/N” You extended her hand to Veronica to shake.

“I love it. I grew up in New York and I’m going to guess by the sound of it that you’re Irish?” Tilting her head at you and smiling, you immedietley liked this girl who was quizzing you even though you had just met.

“Yes, I am. We just got in yesterday. Economy is terrible at home so we needed a change.” Veronica nodded at you.

“Would you like to come sit with my friends? I was the only one brave enough to come and talk to you.” You nodded eagerly, desperate to try and make friends.

As she picked up your meal, she made your way to the booth of teenagers who were eyeing her earlier.

“Guys, this is Y/N. She’s Irish and just moved here yesterday. We’re her new friends.” You waved at the group and smiled a hello.

“Y/N this is Betty Cooper. Ultimate sweetheart and secret badass.” The blonde girl waved at her as her ponytail bobbed up and down.

“This is Archie Andrews, musician and football player. Your real-life Troy Bolton.” She smirked at the ginger boy

“Hey. Jaysus, with that hair they’ll think you’re the Irish one, not me.” The others in the group laughed at this.

The beanie-clad boy spoke before Veronica had the chance to introduce him.

“Jughead. Jones. The Third. Nice to meet you.” Y/N quirked an eyebrow at the funny name, then realised she had heard worse at home.

Since that fateful day, much had happened. Y/N quickly integrated herself to the group and the became fast friends, enjoying her typical Irish sense of humour: sharp, witty and willing to take the piss out of everything, including herself. Herself and Jughead had become very close, and after 6 months, he kissed her and they’ve been dating ever since.

As March rolled around, so did St. Patrick’s Day, and Y/N may not be at home but she was sure as hell going to celebrate in style. She gathered the troops to her house and pulled out a 6 pack of cans of Guinness.

“Right lads. I’m not at home for our national holiday and I miss it so we’re heading down to the bar. First, I got the family to send me these over. Not the same as a good pulled pint but they’ll do. Drink up.” She handed out the cans and as she gave Jughead his she also gave him a peck on the cheek.

“Y/N, darling, I thought you hated the Irish stereotypes of drinking? Because, right now you’re certainly living up to it.” Kevin giggled, taking a swig.

“Now now Keller. I may not like the stereotypes but I’m still deeply patriotic and proud of my heritage. I don’t live up to any of the stereotypes; I’m not ginger, a leprechaun, I hate cabbage, I DO NOT  say ‘Top of the morning to you’ and I do not have a hidden pot of gold no matter how much you ask Jug. Now c’mon, away we go! ” Jughead laughed at his girlfriends antics but followed her anyway. He usually hated the social scene, but, as this was a local bar and not a club; he could do it (for Y/N at least.)

She took Jamie as a chaser, Jack for the fun

She got Arthur on the table, with Johnny riding as shotgun

Chatted some more, one more drink at the bar

Then put Van on the jukebox, got up to dance, you know

After an hour at the bar, Y/N had everyone in the bar celebrating Ireland. The party was in full swing with the whiskey and Guinness flowing. They were all chatting when Y/N stood up and walked over to the jukebox. Next thing, the music changed and on came Brown Eyed Girl by Van Morrison. She walked over to Jughead and with all the strength in her body, pulled him onto the dance floor. After the song played, the young couple played some darts and some pool, in which Y/N beat Jughead at both. During some discussion of whether or not it was an 18 or 20 point difference between the in the darts, she pulled him in for a kiss. No matter how many times they kissed, he still felt like they were the only two people in the room when they did.

You know she beat me at darts and then she beat me at pool

And then she kissed me like there was nobody else in the room

As last orders were called, was when she stood on the stool

After dancing to Cèilidh, singing to trad tunes

I never heard Carrickfergus ever sung so sweet

Acapella in the bar using her feet for a beat

Oh I could have that voice playing on repeat for a week

And in this packed out room, swear she was singing to me, you know

It was near closing time when the bar had quieted down a little that a slightly tipsy Veronica called out for Y/N to sing us an Irish song. Of course, the whole bar had heard and everyone was now chanting “SING!” at a very red Y/N. Giving in, she stood up on a bar stool as everyone fell quiet. Jughead was sitting right below her perch on the stool. He realised in this moment that he had never heard her sing.

Y/N opened her mouth, singing Carrickfergus, and it sounded like the soft ripple of a brook through a quiet forest. The whole bar was silent as she tapped her feet to give herself a beat and sang without a backing tune. Her voice was smooth, silvery and thick with emotion, with a hint of grit. Though there were over 50 people in that room, he could have sworn it was just the two of them, as through the whole song she never broke eye contact.

As she finished, she was met with whistles and applause from the crowd and pure shock from her friends. After many a ‘I had no idea you could sing’ and an incredibly bashful Y/N, she turned to Jughead.

“No idea how you hid a voice that criminally beautiful like that from a detective like me you lady.” She laughed at his words, throwing her head back and wrapping her arms around his neck.

The group said their goodbyes outside the bar, and Jughead and Y/N began to make their way back to hers, hand in hand. Both taking a deep breath of the cool spring night air to rid themselves of the smell of smoke, whiskey and wine that had attached itself to their coats.

Now we’ve outstayed our welcome and it’s closing time
I was holding her hand, her hand was holding mine
Our coats both smell of smoke, whisky and wine
As we fill up our lungs with the cold air of the night

They laughed and joked around the whole way home, and upon reaching Y/N’s door; it was decided that Jug would stay the night. Her parents loved him anyway so that wasn’t an issue.

“I’m fucking starving, do you want anything from the kitchen” She called over her shoulder.

“Me too. It’s me Y/N, I’ll honestly eat whatever is in your kitchen and lots of it.” He heard her glorious, melodic laugh from the other room.

She walked out with a packet of Doritos and sat on the sofa with him.

“Jesus Jug, that was one of the best bloody nights of my life. I can’t thank you enough for coming with me, I know it’s not either of our scenes but I had to make an exception for St. Patrick’s Day. I love you.” She smiled up at him from her place beside him.

I walked her home then she took me inside

Finish some Doritos and another bottle of wine

I swear I’m going to put you in a song that I write

About a Galway girl and a perfect night

“I love you too. You know, I feel a short story coming on about tonight. A perfect girl and perfect night. I’ll call it Galway Girl.” He laughed at her face.

“You know there are places in Ireland apart from Galway right? I’m not even from Galway.” She nudged his shoulder and raised an eyebrow.

“Alliteration, Y/N. Alliteration. I have poetic license with this stuff.” Jughead smirked at his giggling girlfriend.

“You know, I just thought. I speak another language and I could say anything I want about you in it.” Y/N laughed at the false scandalized look on her boyfriends face.

“Is pian so thóin tú.” She kisses his nose as she says this.

“Does that mean ‘I Love You’?” He cocked an eyebrow and looked at her smugly.

“No. It means you’re a pain in the ass.” She doubled over laughing as he slapped a hand over his heart, pretending to be wounded. She climbed onto his lap and pushed the beanie off his head and brushed back the stray hairs. Studying his beautiful face and staring into his eyes, she kissed him, soft and slow and filled with love.

“Tá mé in ngrá leat” She whispers, foreheads touching.

“Does that mean I love you?” He whispers back, breathlessly.

“Yes, that means I love you.” She chuckled.

“Well then tá mé i ngrá leat as well.”

For the rest of the night, the young couple lay in stitches, with Y/N trying to teach Jughead her native tongue. By the end of the night, he had the important stuff down perfectly.

Y/N was drifting off to sleep, head on his chest and legs tangled together.

“Hey Y/N/N?” The girl hummed in response.

“Tá mé i ngrá leat.” He whispered into her hair.

A smile broke out on the girls face, as she felt so at home in this boy’s arms, and he felt the same.

“Tá mé i ngrá leat freisin.” And with those final words whispered, the young couple drifted off to sleep in each other’s arms.

My pretty little Galway girl

anonymous asked:

Can we have a poly reader with Bokuto, Kuroo, and Tsukki?

Seriously, these are some of my favorite guys and I am so exceedingly happy that you sent in this request for them in a polyship. They all provide such a different and good quality to a relationship and I definitely enjoyed exploring it! Also, this ended up being pretty long, so sorry?

P.s. Is it weird that I listened to Cell Block Tango from Chicago while I wrote this? Lol.

P.s.s. Further, is it also weird that the examples I used for each of these boys I had with someone else in my life? Like, not intimately in a relationship, but like, my boyfriend and I are always blowing raspberries on each other (but, I mean, I basically use my boyfriend and I for almost every reference when it comes to relationship, so I guess that’s not so weird?), my brother and I are constantly competing (I have a feeling that’s just in our blood though, petty cheating is also in our genes so there is no sure way to say who wins EVER), and my coworker Dean and I are always having these strange debates that go far too into detail (while the serial killer thing was just discussed today, we’ve also talked waaaay too long about whether we would have a penis for a nose or a vagina for a mouth. xD)

Relationships aren’t easy, to say the very least, but when one throws in three boyfriends into the mix then things get just a little bit more complicated. Not in that they ever question their love for each other, but that they have to figure out themselves all together and then how they are separately as well. They weren’t always together and each individual relationship was just as important as the whole. But they certainly couldn’t ask for anything better than the three loves of their life.

Especially on days like these.

Waking up was hard, it always was. And as their alarm went off that morning, they could feel Tsukishima shift right behind them. His back was pressed tightly against their own and they were sure his arms were wrapped around Bokuto’s middle - even though he would always deny it, the blond was definitely the clingiest of them all during the night. Grudgingly pulling together enough energy to reach for the snooze button, they fell back into the comfort of the mattress, their eyes falling closed without the slightest fight.

“Hey,” the voice was soft, the hand nudging at their shoulder gentle as their eyes sleepily landed on the just as tired face of Kuroo, “come on, shower time.” Really, they weren’t too sure how often they would get to work on time without the urgings of Kuroo every morning. And as they allowed him to pull them away from the warmth that the other two bodies in the bed provided, they allowed their fingers to lace with his own, their head pressing against the expanse of his back as he led them into their master bathroom.

This was the routine they had grown accustomed to. They would shower with Kuroo, their body held up by his own strong one as his hands gently washed and massaged the sleep away from their limbs. The warm water trailing over their bare skin as they sleepily exchanged kisses in the quiet morning air. Even though the event seemed to last forever to their groggy mind, they were sure that they were in there no longer than ten minutes tops.

But they were limited on time - though some mornings that was their last concern - for Tsukishima also needed to shower. Not only did he need that exact time to allow himself to wake up, he also desired his privacy during those morning showers. They were glad for it, in a way, it allowed them an intimate time with Kuroo that they wouldn’t have acquired otherwise.

Bokuto remained in bed on this particular morning. His schedule was always changing depending on his practice regime. It was nice to have him home during his off season, but they wouldn’t deny the envy they felt at his ability to remain asleep for as long as he chose. And really, it never ended up being that long - he always had trouble being alone in bed - as he pushed himself off the mattress surface to join them and Kuroo in the kitchen.

It was a routine that felt so basic and yet defined everything that they loved about them. Everyone moved as though they had rehearsed the steps for years and it was a dance that they would never get tired of seeing. And as Bokuto and Kuroo settled into the cushions of the couch with their mugs of coffee in hand, they returned to the bedroom to get ready for the remainder of the day. This was their life and they could never ask for anything better.

Their days were all different, they never seemed to be on the same schedule constantly. So when Tsukishima and them gave their goodbye for the day to the two perched on the couch, they knew they wouldn’t be reassembled completely until later in the evening. And as much as they hated not being with all of them at every given moment, they were grateful for their morning walks with Tsukishima and their fingers wound around each other instinctively. Talk was sparse during their morning walks - primarily due to it being far too early for any kind of conversation deeper than nonsense that usually passed between them. And as they settled into their seats on the subway, they felt his head fall against their shoulder, a smile touching at their lips when they moved to press a kiss to the top of his head.

Each day that passed by was something that they cherished with their entire being and as they exited the subway with a chaste kiss to Tsukishima’s lips, they went to experience the rest of their work day on their own. It was always long, always filled with constant texts flowing between their group chat, and always has an anticipation of returning him to the three sets of arms that awaited them at home. And everyday they wondered where they would be in life if they had not happened across the three of them out on the streets one afternoon.

It had been a long process of growing their relationship to the point where the three of them had decided to give the fourth addition a try. After all, it wasn’t one heart they were risking, it was all of theirs and they understood that when they were hesitant on their very first date. But as their love grew, they began to question how they had made it through their entire life without them. They completed it in every way, from the raspberries that Bokuto blew against their stomach, to the ice cream eating competitions they held with Kuroo, to the far too serious ridiculous debates they have with Tsukishima on fame for being a serial killer over a movie star.

Life could never be better than how it was with them. And when they walked out of work to Bokuto waiting outside of their building, they knew that was the most accurate thing within their life. It was unquestionable, even.

“Tell me everything,” he spoke the moment his lips parted from their own. And they did. They told him every detail of their day, every good and bad moment that they experience and how their boss had no idea what they were doing despite moving ahead with whatever stupid plan they had figured out without consulting anyone else. Bokuto was always good at this kind of thing, his reactions always correlating with what one wanted to hear as an exaggeration of an answer despite how mundane it actually was.

It made them smile. They always made them smile.

And as they settled in for the night, Kuroo cuddled against their chest, Tsukishima pressed tightly to their back, and Bokuto’s fingers laced with their own, they knew that there was no heaven better than the one they were in now. With soft words of love flowing between the three of them, they knew there was nothing stronger than what they had. And they would forever be together, forever until the end of time.

so, my boss is on this new vegan kick, right ? and it’s like, totally good for the planet or whatever, but they’ve sent me to find sweet potato brownies and they’re acting like it’s a common thing. i don’t suppose you know a place that sells them, do you ? i sort of just want to give them a regular brownie and call it a day, but like, morals and all that. probably shouldn’t. ”

Hi Emma! I was just wondering if you had any tips for taking good notes and for studying Xx

Hi! For taking notes, my tips would be:

  • remember to (try to) write legibly - It sucks having to spend ages trying to figure out something you wrote so find a writing style that is comfortable for long periods of writing. If you want to change your writing, check out this post I made!

For studying:

  • review after class - Use a binder or folder to organise your notes in order after you’ve finished. Remember to review your notes after class, highlight them and add any extra information you have. Also compare your notes with friends or a study group!
  • develop your discipline - this is the best way to get yourself into the habit of studying.

Hope this helps! x

MFM Day 2: Goodnight Kisses

Marinette had shrieked after hearing a knock on her window, she hesitatingly walked over to it, to be greeted by a familiar black cat, Chat Noir.

She groaned “Chat, what do you want?” Marinette said in a frustrated tone.

“Well, little lady, I just wanted to check up on you.” Chat said, smiling, he then winked at Marinette, causing her to show a light pink blush.

“I’m fine, Chat. It was only a simple akuma attack, nothing new.” Marinette says, she looks at her bed and then looks at Chat, who is no longer smiling, causing her mouth to form a tiny “o” shape.

“Erm, listen…” Chat begins to say, he looks at his hands that he’s currently moving around.

“I may not show it, but I do… Care.” He says hesitatingly, afraid that Marinette will look at him differently if he confesses his thoughts.

Marinette walks over to Chat, causing him to stutter and back further away, he ends up hitting her bedroom wall.

“I know you care, Kitty. and I’m so happy that you do.” Marinette says, she then shows the smile that Chat adores.

Chat lets out a short awkward laugh before sneaking past Marinette, so he’s no longer cornered.

“So erm, what were you doing before I came in?” Chat asks, trying to look and sound casual.

Marinette giggles, “I was working on a design, but I’m not letting you see it yet.” she smirks.

“Aw, man! I love getting sneak peeks at things!” Chat whines, making Marinette giggle once again.

“We can watch a movie if you want.” Marinette says, smiling.

Chats ears immediately dart up from their sad state, and his eyes light up.

“Really?” Chat says, a smile begins to show on his face, and its not one of his flirty smirks or grins, is a smile of happiness.

“Yeah, now come onto my bed, we can watch it on my laptop.” Marinette says, her head nudging to her bed, Chat walks on all fours to her bed, and sits down criss-cross.

“I’ll go make some popcorn.” Marinette says, she gives a closed eye smile at Chat before going downstairs.

Chat sighs, he then looks at all of the posters of himself, as Adrien Agreste, hung up all over Marinette’s walls.

“Okay I got the popcorn!” Marinette yells happily, holding a bowl of popcorn in her hands, clearly trying hard not to trip over anything.

“So have you picked a movie?” Marinette asks, she then stuffs a bunch of popcorn into her mouth.

“Eh? Was I supposed to?” Chat asks with a confused expression.

“Oh its fine, I guess I forgot to tell you.” Marinette gives another closed eye smile, she then scrolls through Netflix, trying to find a movie to watch.

“Here! This one looks cool.” Marinette points to the movie on-screen, and Chat starts to smirk.

“That one, ey? Alright.” Chat moves his eyes to look at Marinette who is happily smiling at her choice.

Once the movie finished, both Chat and Marinette are pretty tired.

“I am sad to say that we must go our separate ways.” Chat says, he gets out of Marinette’s bed and bows, making her smirk.

She then crawls over to him and lifts his chin up, causing him to form a small “o” with his mouth. She then kisses him, so passionately, his bright green eyes are wide open, he wasn’t expecting it at all. He then stops bowing and closes his eyes, he puts his hands on her cheeks.

“G-goodnight.” Chat stammers, he then opens the window and looks back at Marinette, who is still smiling at him.

“Goodnight, kitty.” Marinette says, she then yawns and lets out her pigtails, causing her curly short hair to flow freely, making Chat turn into a blushing mess.

“Well? Are you gonna go? You look pretty tired too.” Marinette says sarcastically.

“Actually, I think I’ll stay the night.” Chat says, he closes the window and crawls up into Marinette’s bed, he moves his hand onto her stomach, almost in a cuddle.

“I’d like that, kitty.” Marinette says before dosing off, quiet snores follow, now Chat knows shes asleep.

“I love you.” Chat says quietly, he leans over to kiss Marinettes cheek, she then starts to smile in her sleep, Chat lays back down and sighs.

Goodnight.
