Came across a good size female american alligator (alligator mississippiensis) near a water hole in Florida. At first I thought she may be ill but after getting some shots of her she sauntered off into the water and submerged herself.
I’m staying in South Florida for vacation and my place is 10 minutes away from Ben Siegel Reptiles so I went there yesterday and I got to see Medusa and a two-headed Red Eared Slider!! Definitely one of the best days of my life.
“Danielle Susan Ruger”, set this tortoise on fire and then threw him all over the street.
I don’t have much information on it, but that one of her friend’s on Facebook saved this horrendous video to his phone before she deleted off of Facebook. Apparently, she’s from/located in Orange Park.
Please, if you can in any way, report this person right away!
She needs to pay for torturing this poor animal now.
The mighty Gopher Tortoise! This is a keystone species in many of Florida’s fire dependent ecosystems. Small animals that cannot outrun fire find refuge in the Tortoise burrows and can survive the frequent burns that maintain the habitat those species need to survive.
