This is a callout post for the TSA agent who was incredibly thoughtful and concerned about me flying across the country all alone without an adult and wanted to make sure I knew how to go through security and felt safe and comfortable and explained that, as per the signs, children under 12 can keep their shoes on, and directed me specifically to another agent to help me so I wouldn’t be overwhelmed or afraid.
You were super sweet and kind, and the look on your face when I handed you my driver’s license and you realized I was 25 was priceless.
Introducing Tokyo’s New Vintage Fashion Flea Market - Raw Tokyo
Several of Tokyo’s most popular vintage boutiques have combined forces to organize a new once-a-month vintage flea market, Raw Tokyo. The first Raw Tokyo featured 60+ sellers including vintage shops, independent dealers, handmade goods creators, indie fashion designers, antique shops, and food stalls. We saw lots of familiar faces from the Japanese street fashion scene at Raw Tokyo (both selling and buying).
The Raw Tokyo vintage fashion flea market will be held on the first Sunday of each month (May 1st & June 5th are the next confirmed dates) at the Farmer’s Market at United Nations University in Aoyama (15 minute walk from Harajuku or Shibuya).
You sit comfortably behind your computer screen, far from suffering, possibly never even seeing a flea, either because you never looked or because they were never there in the first place, and proudly tell people that vets are just in it for the money, so you should treat fleas with olive oil / garlic / diatomaceous earth / apple cider vinegar / wishful thinking instead.
You’re not here in the real world trying to comfort an old, desperate woman who took your advice and is paying the price.
Her old cat is being put to sleep because of massive flea burden causing an iron deficiency anaemia, with a PCV of 11% (lost 70% of her blood cells to these parasites). She could have afforded real flea treatments that work, but she certainly can’t afford the blood transfusion, oxygen therapy and intensive care her cat requires.
You’re not here as I put her cat to sleep, resting on her tear soaked chest, coat greasy with olive oil, stinking of garlic and lavender.
You don’t see the consequences of these unchecked parasites, which you probably only ever thought of as a dirty annoyance.
But I am here.
I am here comforting this woman while bad internet advice killed her cat with a completely preventable condition.
So to those promoting ‘natural’ parasite control, whether it’s because you like to feel clever, or always wanted to be a vet but didn’t get to be one, I’d just like you to know one more thing.
Y'all:omg Batman killing is so ooc it made me so uncomfortable!
Me:it's supposed to be ooc. You're supposed to feel uncomfortable. There is nothing comforting about being damaged and lost. About mental trauma and illness. You are supposed to see someone who feels he has nothing more to lose after the brutal murder of Jason Todd, who was like his child in his eyes. Someone whose every breath, every step, is filled with darkness and trauma and fear and anger and hurt. Someone who is without any semblance of hope.
Me:What is the ultimate way to show you are at your lowest point in life? By becoming the one thing you hate the most. Bruce became what he hated whether he realized it or not. He became an enemy of himself. Alfred knew this. And he could do nothing about it. It wasn't until Superman, an alien whose actions are all that spoke for him, made the ultimate sacrifice for mankind that Bruce was re-taught what he stood for. That "men are still good".
Y'all:Batman doesn't kill anymore in Suicide Squad. DC is finally learning from Snyder's mistakes!
Me:Everything post-BvS is meant to show Bruce learning from the events of BvS. How Supes indirectly (and yeah at times, directly) saved Batman and turned him back into a hero. It's called character development and would not have been possible without the events of BvS.
