before the holiday weekend

on the road to new york

A 7 mile shakeout run on a cool overcast late afternoon ahead of Sunday’s Buffalo Half, took yesterday off - a busy day and to give the right foot a day off from some minor soreness that’s been there for a little while.  Might be from when I twisted the toe a little during a run couple weeks ago or maybe some lingering effects still from last month’s marathon.  The past week feels like I’ve been both prepping for Buffalo and recovering from Boston.  Either way, yesterday’s rest seemed to have helped, the foot felt good today.

Sunday’s race weather sounds good - overcast and cool, in the upper 50’s around start time - and essentially eliminated the chance of thunderstorms during the races.  Almost forgot this is Memorial Day weekend, happens every year with the marathon/half on the same weekend.  Time to remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice…

Good morning!

It’s finally March; Spring Festivus, and my birthday month (my name actually means “Spring Child”) 💗 I’ve always loved the way March feels in Texas. It’s not cold, but the air is crisp and the flowers are in bloom. Beautiful Peonies are my favorite!

Heading to Austin this weekend for a race and a kite festival. Can’t wait!

Leg day in the gym 🤓😅💪🏼✌🏼… it’s been a while since I’ve done a leg day and it felt good to have a structured #gymsession! I ended up doing 50 mins and burning 969 cals! The workout involved…

2017 boston marathon recap

Here is what I remember of April 17…the weekend began with friends and hosts Kevin and Mariani taking me out for seafood pasta on Saturday night, then a perfectly cooked sirloin steak dinner out on Sunday night to get set for Monday morning’s marathon.  Slept okay Sunday night, too much going on in the brain to completely relax.

Kevin dropped me off at the Red Line Alewife station early Monday morning, 6 am, to head down to the Commons for the buses to take us to the start at Hopkinton.  Seemed everyone on the train was either running or cheering for the marathon.
