Hello! Here is my apprentice, Avery for the arcana game.

She has a penchant  for bishop sleeves as it makes her feel safe and cozy. :) (I like to think she used magic to make that cape transparent with some sort of protection spell for her travels)

(i am healed)

Castiel sits in the booth, staring at his laptop. He halfheartedly pokes at a few keys, then slams the delete key until the page is blank again. He sips at his coffee, wincing at the bitter taste. He longs for a good chai, or even his favorite English breakfast tea, but what was it that Giles said on Buffy the Vampire Slayer? “Tea is soothing, I wish to be tense*.” That’s me alright, Cas thinks.

Stupid to try to write at JP’s. It’s full of students, chattering and laughing, seemingly without a care in the world. Apparently they don’t have a creative writing final due in three days and nothing but a blank screen to show for it. He’d thought getting out of his dorm room would help, away from…certain distractions.

No! he thinks loudly at himself. Don’t think about–

“Hey, Cas! Didn’t think I’d see you here! Don’t you have a story to write or something?”

Startled, Cas looks up into the moss-green eyes of his roommate, Dean.

“I, uh…yes, Dean, I do. I thought a change of scenery might help. But it’s not working. I’ve got nothing.”

Dean slides onto the bench across from Cas, an easy smile on his face. “You should do like me, major in biology. Sure there are papers to write, but it’s not creative. They tell me to write a paper about photosynthesis, I write about photosynthesis. I don’t have to think, I just do it. Easy as pie.” He sits up straighter. “Hey, speaking of…”

Cas grins. “Yeah, they’ve got pie today. Apple crumble’s on the far end.”

“Score!” says Dean, practically leaping out of the booth. “Want some? And do you need more tea? English breakfast, right?”

Cas’s stomach flutters. “No pie, thanks. And I’m actually drinking coffee today. It’s horrible.”

Dean blanches. “You can’t drink coffee! No wonder you aren’t getting anything written! Let me get you some proper tea. And…” He scans the pastry shelves, then shakes his head. “No, that won’t work. I’ll be right back.”

And before Cas can open his mouth to protest, Dean is out the door and running.

Bewildered, Cas looks back at his laptop. What just happened? he wonders. He idly types a few words and deletes them.

Fifteen minutes later Dean is back, a huge grin on his face.

“You don’t need sugar, you need brain food. I went across the street to the Italian place. Tuxedo chicken with fresh tomatoes, and garlic breadsticks. That should get you writing.” Dean sets the take-out bag on the table with a flourish.

His grin falters when he sees Cas staring up at him, unblinking. “Is something wrong?” he asks. “That’s your favorite, right?”

Slowly Cas asks, “How did you know all that?”

Dean’s ears turn pink. “I just…pay attention, I guess,” he says, rubbing the back of his neck.

“Just like I know that apple crumble pie is your favorite,” Cas says, pulling himself to his feet.

“I guess…” says Dean

“And I know you fall asleep listening to Led Zeppelin and you want to find a ‘67 Impala to restore someday, because your dad had one when he was your age.” Cas says, moving closer to Dean.

“I know you want a house in the country where you can write and have a garden and keep bees,” Dean says. His voice is barely more than a whisper.

“I know that I want to kiss you right now,” says Cas, his eyes smiling.

“That’s something we both want,” Dean says, and he closes the space between them.

Several students nearby burst into applause and catcalls, but all Cas can think of is the softness of Dean’s lips against his own.

When they stop for breath, Dean smiles and says, “I’ll get that tea now.” He winks as he adds, “Should I get it go go?”

Closing his laptop with a decisive snap, Cas grins back and says, “Yes. I think maybe my writer’s block is gone.”

How To Work With Hounds

Misconceptions

1) HOUNDS ARE NOT STUPID

2) YOU ARE NOT THEIR “MASTER

3) THEY HAVE FEELINGS

4) THEY ARE NOT PETS DAMN IT

Types of Hounds

  • Hellhounds: A demonic hound; ‘darker arts’; very good for beginners; can shift to a more human form (may or may not depending on their personal preference); Many varieties (Cerberus, Orthrus, Icarus, Rogue, Etc)
  • Heavenhounds: Angelic Hounds; ‘lighter arts’; has wings; can shift into a humanoid form if desired; takes on different types of dogs; can be good for beginners
  • Cu Sidhe (Irish)  / Cu Sith (Scottish): Faery Hounds; normally green, brown, or white; Appears normally as either an Irish Wolfhound, a Wolf, or a Greyhound; Beginners be cautious but not like, paranoid
  • Cwn Annwn: The Hounds of The Celtic God Arawn ; Grey; DO NOT CONTACT UNLESS YOU WORK WITH ARAWN / WANT TO WORK WITH HIM
  • Grim: Hounds of Death; Guardians; ‘darker arts’; Very Territorial; Intermediate
  • Black Shuck: The Black Dogs of Folklore; Super Sweet; So Nice; Good for Beginners
  • Gwyllgi: Welsh; ‘Dark Arts’; 50/50 shot; Caution; Intermediate+; Appear as a black dog or a mastiff
  • Barghest: Large Dog; Sharp claws, Toxic Teeth; Actually Really Nice; ‘Dark arts’; Intermediate
  • Madrai Dryads: Hounds who live in trees; My personal discovery; Brown with green eyes; leave trails of dirt where they walk; info post soon; sweet but shy; beginner friendly
  • Werewolves: Humanoid Shifters; Shift either at will or with the moon phases/extreme anger; man buns for dayyyyyyyyyyyyyyys; beginner friendly sometimes, use caution
  • Familiars: Spirits of animals passed on; very chill; I would recommend these for anyone. {I have a wolf I got from a shop and she is the sweetest thing ever <3 )
  • Celestial Hounds: The Hounds of The Stars; Very spacey; They glow; harder to contact

How To Bond

  • Spend time with them and their vessel
  • Talk to them
  • Do fun things with them
  • Draw them
  • Give Them Food
  • Cuddle
  • Etc

Things That Help (No Seriously, I Wish I Would Have Been Told This Stuff)

1) Get A Damn Pendulum, this is the easiest way to communicate with any spirit, is user friendly, and very inconspicuous

2) Be patient. Do not fucking get mad when they mess up, explain why thats not ok or how it should be done

3) Set house rules, but don’t be a dictator about it

4) Develop a Mom™ Voice (I mean this in a gender neutral way, but you know that voice that your mom used that made you feel compelled to do what she asked or tell her what she wanted to know? Yeah, develop one of those. Its helped me so many times its not even funny. (it actually is kinda funny tbh)

5) Vessels aren’t supposed to be an uncomfortable trap for your companion, its supposed to make it easier to feel them and connect with them. Ask to make sure their binding (if they have one) doesn’t hurt them. If it does contact the shop you got them from, break the binding you did, or have someone else (like me) break the binding and redo it. (IF YOU GOT THEM FROM A SHOP PLEASE CONTACT THAT SHOP FIRST, I don’t like stepping on other peoples work unless they refuse to help, EVERY SHOP SHOULD / WILL WANT TO KNOW IF THEIR BINDING IS INFLICTING PAIN.)

If you need help contacting any of the above mentioned spirits, please message me and I would be glad to help you

OCTOBER 1ST : AUTUMN IMAGINE DAY ONE

DAVEY JACOBS X READER

[NEWSIES MODERN AU]

SUMMARY: Race may have lost a bet, but Davey is pretty sure he just won at life. (Y/N is sort of thinking the same.)

A/N: welcome to my version of inktober aka i’m going to write something every day of this month!! i feel bad bc i haven’t posted anything in a while, so i’m going to try my best to do this. don’t hate me if i miss a day or post it late, pls !! this is super long but kinda bad ??? but it’s okay bc it’s a coffee shop au with my boy davey, and that pretty much makes up for everything

__________

The chill in the air brought an easy smile to Y/N’s face. She loved the feeling of autumn more than any other season. It’s wasn’t nearly as cheerful as Christmas, but the promise of sweaters, cold days with blankets and hot chocolate, and the brilliant colors of the leaves made it even better, in her opinion. She particularly loved the way the atmosphere of the coffee shop she worked in changed as October began. There were decorations that matched the color scheme of the season scattered around the small building and more customers stopped by, staying to study or to chat with friends. Plus, there was always the added bonus of her workplace being warm and cozy as could be.
