piercethevic: That’s a wrap!! Our first Australian headline tour was fucking awesome! Thanks to @silverstein@beartoothband and @stormthesky for being inspiring friends. Thanks to our hard working crew for bringing these shows to life, and thanks to the dedicated fans who waited so patiently for us to return. It was well worth the wait. Much love Australia! 🐨❤️ // 📸 by @sammyroenfeldt
iamhalsey: On my very first headline tour. My short self climbing on a table to check my outfit in the mirror. It’s hard to believe the American Youth Tour was just about a year ago. It’s insane to think that I was playing to 200 people a night and thinking “gosh could it get any better than this?!” And it did. It got bigger and louder. It got massive. And this summer I get to play to tens of thousands of you and I know that every night I’ll check out my outfit in the mirror and hear those first few notes of Gasoline and think to myself “It doesn’t get any better than this.” So thank you. For everything. I can’t wait to bring you the show you deserve. This summer. The final installment.
how do you feel that hv is going on their first headlining tour?
well it’s not their first headlining tour technically
remember a few years ago when they did a few shows around the europe or the US?? maybe 10 or less?
on their website they’ve only released 10 dates, ALL of which are smallish venues
(the troubadour and a few clubs)
One of them is the house of blues which is where they did that incredibly bad show before the middle finger era
at the moment, it sounds exactly like that tour they did a few years back
because the venues are small, with a small capacity, and there’s only 10/11 shows
there’s never any videos from these shows either so
their troubadour show starts at 9PM (wtf) and their supporting act is Jessarae, [which is probably due to their management since he supported 5sos and got incredible support], tickets are $20 which is to be expected
considering the crash of their headlining shows in LA and Sydney, i think this shouldn’t get an as bad reaction, because they’re finally acting like a small band
This will be a special that will run through the last 12 days of 2015, each day highlighting a month in Fifth Harmony’s career this year.
We start off our flashback with January!
Fifth Harmony released a cover, Uptown Funk, which promoted their first headlining tour:
They were nominated for a People’s Choice Award for “Choice Breakout Group” and attended the awards show:
They had a photoshoot with Billboard:
And of course, who could forget, this was the month when we first heard Reflection, Fifth Harmony’s debut album, in its entirety during the last week of January? All thanks to iTunes’ First play feature, we FINALLY got to listen to the girls’ debut album!
To help promote the album, the girls started a series of album signing events in malls around the USA.
Their album release party in NYC got postponed to February following a heavy blizzard in the East Coast.
It was also this month when Fifth Harmony had their first Top 20 radio hit with Sledgehammer!
We went on our very first headlining tour a few years ago, and I used to stand there before I would go on stage and I’d listen to the crowd making the most amazing, magical, loud screaming sounds. And I’d hear it and first of all I would sit there and think “I can’t believe I get to hear that sound one time in my life.” And then I would get a melody stuck in my head and I could never get this melody out of my head until I finally wrote it into a song and I called that song long live.
“I always expected to have to do a lot of stressing out about selling tickets. And then I went on my first headlining tour, and everything just sold out, I’ve never expected that kind of success. I’ve never just felt entitled to my shows selling out or things like this happening to me, but the fact that they’ve happened to me has been wonderful.“
kehlani: 2015 changed my life. New Years last year i clinked glasses with my team and said I hope next year is everything we dreamed of. We left for tour with @g_eazy in the first week of January and nothing was eeeeever the same. I dropped You Should Be Here on soundcloud in the spring. That mixtape changed everything. From being categorized with amazing albums to being recognized by my idols and much more. This year we established TSNMI and gave it a home at Atlantic Records with an amazing AnR @jeffreybvaughn and the man himself @mikecaren . This year I completed my first headlining tour almost completely sold out, as well as a European tour. We sold out my hometown theatre 2 nights in a row in under 30 minutes each. Got the cover of @thefader , and got a Grammy nomination for Best Urban Contemporary Album. This year I got my first crib. I have my own room and bed for the first time. This year I finally could send money home to my family, and be the big sister I always wanted to be. Thank you to my amazing manager for without you none of this would’ve been possible @itsdavidali , my brother and producer whom without , the sound would lack magic @jahaansweet . Thank you to my entire team, all my brothers and sisters in TSNMI, my family, my fans and most importantly God. Thank GOD for giving me a gift. Thank god for giving me the strength. Dropped a mixtape that shit sounded like an album… Who knew a whole LIFE CHANGE would be the outcome 🙏🏼 grateful beyond belief.. Ready for TsuThousand16. And every year after that.
