Word Count: This will probably never happen. It’s long okay.
Warnings: Coach’s here so prepare yourself
Prompt: Liam destroying people on the field caused this. You’re welcome.
Multishot: If yall want
“You have to come it’s the first game of the season.” Lydia whined trying to convince you to sit in the cold and watch boys you barely knew play a game you barely understood.
“I don’t even know the rules or who to root for.” You sighed shoving books into your locker. Ever since you moved her a few days ago Lydia has made it her personal goal to get you to branch out. She’d even introduced you to her junior friends.
“Red good any other color bad. If green then extra bad.” Lydia said in a slow voice as if talking to a child.
“Wait! What does red look like?”You said in fake confusion.
Lydia just rolled her eyes and started to dragged you to your class. When you moved here it was a Friday so you and your family had decided to wait until Monday to start. Essentially today was your first day. “Look you’re going. Dress warm and leave the sarcasm at the house.” She gave you a long look.
“Oh Lydia you know I can’t do that. Sarcasm is a serious disease that I contracted a while back. Haven’t been able to shake it. It’s fatal and contagious so I’d take a step back.” You made a little fake lunge trying to scare her but she just continued to give you a disgusted look.
“Sweety I’ve known Stiles my entire life, you’re going to have to amp it up.” You just smiled and opened the door to your class.
“Oh, hello you must be the new student…..” The teacher struggled to remember your name.
“Y/N.” You answered with a smile.
“Well take a seat next to Mr. Dunbar please.” You turned around trying to find the Mr. Dunbar he was talking about. A boy with blue eyes and brown hair made a gesture indicating the he was Mr. Dunbar.
“Well hello Mr. Dunbar, I’m Y/N.” You plopped down in your seat and turned to look at the boy who couldn’t meet your eyes.
“Um.. Liam…… The names….. Um Liam.” He was stuttering and blushing. Wow first day and you already got a boy to stumble on his words. New record.
“It’s nice to meet you Um Liam.” You smirked at your little joke but it got him to give a little chuckle.
You both turned to face the teacher but the entire class you would both give little glances. It was as if you were making sure the other was there.
“Remind me why I’m here again?” You complained to Lydia as you climbed up the bleachers packed with hormonal teen girls squealing at the boys warming up.
“Because you love me and don’t lie, you love sports.” She gave you a look that said ‘I know your secrets’.
“One if it makes you sleep at night sure. Two you’re so right. Guys destroying other guys on the field is super hot.” You gushed not able to keep it in. What you didn’t know was that Liam, the werewolf, was listening in. He smirked and shoved his helmet on.
The game was starting and you were excited. Lydia had pointed out and named all of the players on the Beacon Hills team. Liam, Stiles and Scott were all on the team so you actually had someone to cheer for.
Liam was sprinting down the field after the other teams player who had the ball. He leaned down and slammed his shoulder into the player causing him to fly the other direction. You gasped and cheered louder than before. Damn, that was hot. You thought.
“Dunbar where is this coming from. Nope don’t tell me. If you’re juicing I don’t wanna know.” Coach yelled from the sidelines enjoying having his star player be more aggressive.
A few minutes later Liam was near his goalie and the other team was running trying to deke out the defense. Liam saw this and got in the players way. He hunkered down and came up just as the player touched him. The boy was launched onto his back and he landed with a loud thud.
You jumped up and yelled and cheered along with the crowd. You looked over Liam and bit you lip. If he was like this…..
“Dunbar that’s how you do it. Greenberg, take notes from the sidelines. I don’t care what with, just do it.” Coach was yelling at Greenberg now for who knows what.
The game continued with Liam making incredible hits and scoring a few goals, Stiles was, well, Stiles, and Scott scored many goals proving why he was captain.
When it ended you were breathless and flushed from cheering. Beacon Hills had won 10-3. Now the boys were in an after game huddle with Coach. You were standing close waiting to congratulate the boys along with Lydia and her junior friends.
“Great game boys, all around, well except Greenberg, you kinda sucked. Dunbar you were on fire. Any particular reason?” Liam glanced, barely even shifted his eyes up at you, it kinda looked as if he blinked, but coach caught it and turned around. He spotted the usuals but then he spotted you, the new girl, who had never come to a game before. “You, who are you?” Coach yelled.
“I’m Y/N sir.” You were smirking, you had heard what coach said to Liam. Now you knew why every time Liam got a hit he’d look up at you like ‘see that’.
“Y/N you’re coming to every game.”
“With pleasure Coach. But only if he keeps playing like that” You winked at Liam. Scott and Stiles were nudging Liam and messing with his hair. The team made wolf whistles. Coach turned around to face the team and a blushing Liam.
“She’s my new favorite. Any of you mess with her, laps for a week.”
“Coach I think Liam might not be able to follow that rule.” Stiles jumped in wiggling his eyebrows at you and Liam. Liam tried to lunge at Stiles with a growl but Scott held him back
“He better not!” You yelled laughing. Liam turned a big grin on his face.
He’d love to take time off work to take care of you, but realistically, that can’t happen. As an actor, he doesn’t have that luxury.
That means, that when he gets home, he makes sure that you feel as comfortable as possible, and will go above and beyond to pamper you
He’s been on his own for so long, and he has to have learned how to cook for himself, and he does not disappoint. He makes every feel-better-soup in the book: chicken noodle soup (with ginseng and ginger–spicy foods are a natural decongestant), soup made with leafy greens, rice porridge. He doesn’t like flashy foods–never has–so it’s almost perfect that he knows how to make the standard “sick” foods.
Whatever you’re sick with, he will find the best recipe as a remedy
Lots of cuddles. Boy doesn’t get sick (ever) so when you voice your concerns, he laughs them off. You’ll have to complain about the heat to get him off of you, and then, five minutes later, when you get cold, he’ll be happy to wrap himself around you again.
Theater nerd probably sings even more, because he’s convinced it’ll help. You don’t mind, especially when the drowsiness form your medication kicks in. It’s a great sound to fall asleep to.
He will make you whatever you want to eat
He keeps it simple, like Zen, but he’s stocked up with such a wider range of ingredients
Also like Zen, wants to skip work for the day, but he has patients scheduled, so he, begrudgingly, leaves for the day, while you stay home
Does not touch LOLOL until you’re feeling better. That’s dedication, you note as he powers down his computer after typing a message to his guild reading, “AFK for a bit! Sorry!!”
Will absolutely indulge you in anything you want to watch on TV, even if it’s a horror film (He spends the entire time hiding in your shoulder with his ears plugged, so you stop the movie halfway through and put on a romcom)
He wants to be someone you can rely on, especially when you aren’t at your best, so he makes sure that he gets you everything that you need
You’re too hot? Okay, he’ll lower the temperature and put on a sweatshirt. Too cold? He’ll raise the temperature and change into shorts.
He spends so much time around you that when you’ve finally turned the corner, he’s now coughing and sneezing. It’s time for you to play doctor, now.
First order of business, medicine.
She will not go to the cafe until she is certain you have taken it, and are equipped with enough food, tissues, etc. to make it through the day.
Might even close the cafe for the day, if she has to
Second order, sleep and steam.
You want to watch TV? Nope. You’re sick, so you’re on bed rest until you’re feeling better. You get your phone and laptop for work, and only work that necessary.
She also ensures that you’re not too congested, because let’s face it, it’s the worst feeling when you’re sick. You don’t miss being able to breath through your nose until you can’t. So she runs a hot bath and leaves you to soak, letting the steam work its magic the best it can.
Third order, making sure you’re comfortable
After you’ve started to feel a little better, then she lightens up on her militant nursing, letting you do (most of the things) you would normally do if you were feeling 100%, as long as its at home.
She’s still ordering take out, though, because while homemade food is always the best when you’re sick, she wants you to have your favorite comfort foods (as long as they don’t worsen your symptoms, of course).
Actually takes a few days off of work (unheard of!!) to help nurse you back to help
By that, he means he almost calls and hires an actual doctor to come to his apartment to treat you. You have to pry the phone out of his hand while he’s talking with the doctor, explaining that you only have a cold, and that you’ll live
You tell him that you’re fine, and that he doesn’t have to take time off, but he insists, so who are you to complain?
He doesn’t actually know what he should do (his first order of business is to quarantine Elizabeth III because what if she gets sick) so he hires a chef, rather than a doctor, to cook up some concoction to make you feel better
It doesn’t work, but it tasted great
In the end, he just opts to spend time with you, seeing as you’re pretty proficient in taking care of yourself. He’s always wanting to sleep in longer than he’s usually permitted, so he takes solace in being able to hold you close, for once, in the early mornings.
When you’re feeling a bit better, he goes back to work, seeing as he has no real purpose for taking leave, but he calls you periodically through the day just to check in. Every time, you answer with a laugh, claiming that you’re feeling much better, and that you can’t wait for him to get home.
Seeing as he doesn’t actually have a job that requires him to be away from home, he’s perfectly fine, time wise, to be your “sexy, stay-at-home nurse”
On the first day, dresses up in some doctor’s garb, with a fake stethoscope and everything, ready to play the role of some TV doctor from a hospital drama.
He’s very diligent, too, and you’re surprised because the boy can barely take care of himself. You know that you’re not dying, and that you don’t need him to do all this, but he seems to be having fun, so you let him.
After that, he’s perfectly content with rolling the two of you up in blanket burritos on the couch, taking up the whole thing (much to Saeran’s annoyance), and watching television all day.
You’re usually the one to cook for the two boys, seeing as Saeyoung would live off of chips and soda otherwise, and Saeran, though a fairly good chef, doesn’t really like to, so until you’re better, Saeyoung and Saeran tackle the kitchen
Except Saeran gets mad because Saeyoung doesn’t follow the recipe, so then he quits, and you’re left with take out, which you’re perfectly fine with.
Mary Lincoln’s purple velvet skirt with daytime bodice is believed to have been made by African American dressmaker Elizabeth Keckly. The first lady wore the gown during the Washington winter social season in 1861–62. Both pieces are piped with white satin, and the bodice is trimmed with mother-of pearl buttons. An evening bodice was included with the ensemble. The lace collar is of the period, but not original to the dress.
After Abraham Lincoln’s death, Mary went into mourning and remained in widow’s clothes until her own death in 1882. She gave some of her White House finery to family members. Her cousin, Elizabeth Todd Grimsley, received this purple velvet ensemble. In 1916 Grimsley’s son, John, sold the ensemble to Mrs. Julian James for the Smithsonian’s First Ladies Collection.
John Grimsley attributed this dress to a “seamstress of exceptional ability” who “made nearly all of Mrs. Lincoln’s gowns.” Although he mistook her name as “Ann,” he most likely was referring to Elizabeth Keckly.
The Civil War made it particularly important that the ceremonial functions of the administration appear dignified and competent. This public image helped calm domestic critics and reassure foreign governments, especially England and France, which were being courted by the Confederacy. The Lincolns faced the challenge of maintaining proper decorum without appearing self-indulgent when so many were sacrificing so much. Their background made this task even more difficult, as they had to overcome eastern stereotypes of “uncultured” westerners.
Mary Lincoln took her role as first lady very seriously. Some newspapers portrayed her as “the republican queen,” elegant and admirable at public occasions. Others criticized her for conspicuous consumption in time of war and sacrifice. Although she came from a genteel Kentucky family, she was the wife of “the rail splitter,” and many people expected her to embarrass the nation with uncouth western manners.
Bequest of Mrs. Julian James, 1923
Material: Velvet, lace, satin
What girl doesn’t love a look that easily transitions from day to night?! I did notice that the color of the dress in the photos taken by The Smithsonian look a little off so I went digging.
It is more of a rich purple than that heinous electric color, we won’t blame the dress, no one looks good in such intense light. Also, it hurts my heart that the sleeves on the afternoon bodice are very noticeably replacements.

“Jyn, come here already! It’s starting!” you yelled, as she came rushing in from the kitchen with a bowl of popcorn, jumping beside you onto the couch.
“Sorry I’m late.” She chuckled, as the movie’s theme played. You’ve Got Mail began, yourself engrossed as Jyn started to tease. “You’ve been watching a lot of rom-coms lately, Y/N. Is a certain someone influencing you?”
“Pffft, shut up.” You chuckled, “Besides, we’re just friends.”
“I didn’t mention any names.” Jyn spoke, as you mentally cursed yourself out. “Who is it?”

A/N: This is it guys, the last part of my first story is here! I want to thank you so much for reading and commenting and anticipating the story - this was an incredible journey for me, as I am just making my first steps as a writer, if I can even call myself one, but really - THANK YOU! I will be continuing The Girl in the Mirror and I am very happy that a lot of people showed interest in it - I am not going to stop write for Rucas even though the show might be gone. I was going back and forth with the ending, always changing the course of the story but I hope you are satisfied with it and that reading my story was worth it. Feedback is always appreciated and you can comment on what you want to see in The Girl in the Mirror. I really hope you like and enjoy this. xo
A/N2: I changed the song in this so that it can fit the moments Riley and Lucas shared together .. Also, this song was actually the reason I started this story, it is the inspiration behindd it.
I’ve been sitting at
the airport for about an hour now, just looking around at the people coming and
going. I sent Josh home, I didn’t want to listen to him convince me to stay,
because If I have to be honest, I still wasn’t sure that this is the right thing
for me. There was a couple around my age sitting in front of me - they were cuddled
up and smiling, but their eyes wanted to tell another story. The second they
called for her flight, the two teenagers let go of their hands. But they didn’t
want to - there was so much pain in their parting that even my chest hurt a
little. I saw people who love each other so
deeply, letting go their happiness with tears burning in their eyes. One of them
had to leave, even if it was unwillingly. That’s when it hit me - these people
are not as lucky as me,to be able to make a choice. They would give everything
they have for the opportunity to stay together - and I just decided to hop on a plane and never put up a fight for what I want, for what I love. I hurt Lucas so many times
but he kept fighting. Now it’s my turn. The tragedy of this beautiful couple
gave me what I needed all along.
