Today on TOEI Doesn’t Know What Technology Is broadcast:
- In their attempt to pretend that Crystal takes place in modern times they replace Ami’s laptop with “FinePad” iPad parody… AND SHOW REGULAR MAC OS INTERFACE ON IT WITH DRAGGABLE WINDOWS
I don’t own an iPad either but even I know that Mac OS and iOS interfaces are different. They got app icons right, but seeing draggable windows on “FineOS” here probably damaged me more than it should have.
Speaking of technology. I am no expert on iPads but uh… let’s imagine that she has FinePad Air - the one which replaced the regular numbered ones. The most top-notch model would cost $929 which is… well, not cheap. Ami possessing an expensive hardware makes sense, though. But.
Just for lulz I decided to google what laptop could pose as the one which she holds in manga. My best bet was this little fellow:
Toshiba T1200, made in 1987. Of course by the time of Sailor Moon happening it would be already 5 years old and in 1992 it was discontinued, but it had an enhanced model, Toshiba T1200XE, advertised in 1990′s.
Anyway, the launch price for Toshiba T1200 was $6,499. Wikipedia kindly says that it would be $13,700 in 2016 money. The 1990 advertisement price for Toshiba T1200XE was $3.999 which is still pretty serious business.
Mizuno family is rich.
- The scenes with sandwiches unfold differently
And as we can see, all of this time there were fruit/strawberry jam sandwiches, not ketchup!
- Crystal Ami’s FinePad images are without text
Not that it helps girls much in manga.
