More than a natural disaster: How Harvey and Irma put health care, immigrant communities, the environment, and more at risk

In the past few weeks, severe storms including Hurricane Harvey and Hurricane Irma wreaked havoc across the southwest U.S., Mexico, and island territories including the U.S. Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, and the Caribbean. Dozens of people perished, and many more were displaced from their homes. Some people’s lives will never be the same again.

The truth is that horrifying storms like Harvey and Irma — as well as the earthquake that shook Mexico — reveal the intersections of how natural disasters can impact access to health care, the environment, immigrant communities and folks with low incomes. Here’s how these crises are affecting real people, right now.

Natural disasters = heightened fear for undocumented communities

Donald Trump’s xenophobic plan to end DACA makes Hurricane Harvey even more dangerous for some folks. In Houston, the city with the third largest population of undocumented immigrants, Harvey forced many DACA recipients and mixed-status families to face difficult choices. Already anxious over Trump’s threats of deportation, undocumented people may be even more reluctant to seek out shelter and health care in Harvey’s wake, for fear of being turned away at shelters or facing hostile ICE agents.

The most vulnerable people at risk

Natural disasters affect people with low incomes the most. In Texas and Florida, folks with low incomes are more likely to live in flood-prone areas with deficient infrastructure. This means that evacuating and traveling to get medical assistance is much harder — especially for low-income people with disabilities. There’s an assumption that everyone can and should evacuate when natural disasters happen, but that’s not always possible for everyone. Not everyone can get time off of work, access resources to relocate their family, or find a place to stay.

And in Houston, many families with low incomes live near the city’s oil refineries and petrochemical plants — putting them at risk of contamination, leaks, explosions, and other hazards.

A threat against women’s health

We also can’t forget the danger that natural disasters pose for women. Because of the devastation brought on by Harvey and Irma, women looking for preventive or maternal care and women who need abortions might be blocked from getting help. What’s more, these women could be forced to travel in sometimes dangerous conditions to access the care they need, if they can at all.

In addition, Texas lawmakers have passed medically unnecessary restrictions that have led to health centers closing, jeopardizing women’s health even further. In parts of Texas, some abortion providers offered free safe, legal abortion for survivors of Harvey. But elsewhere, a lot of women don’t have this option.

And it gets worse

Folks with chronic conditions — such as diabetes, endometriosis, or chronic kidney disease — are also at risk. During evacuation, their medications can get lost or destroyed. With dialysis centers, pharmacies, and hospitals closed, there are fewer places for people to get care.

The environment suffers, too

Houston is home to America’s petroleum industry. Significant amounts of flooding spell disaster for those living near chemical factories — and the environment.

With dozens of chemical plants flooding and shutting down due to Harvey, more than one million pounds of toxic pollutants have been released into the air. A flooded factory outside of Houston burst into flames twice, leaking toxic chemicals and sending 15 people to the hospital.

And drinking water — which may have come in contact with sewage systems and contaminated with bacteria like E. coli  — is unsafe to drink in some areas of Houston and Florida. Having safe, healthy environments and clean water is a basic human right, as well as an issue of reproductive rights. Mothers, for example, need clean water to prepare infant formula or to breastfeed their babies.

We stand in solidarity with those affected by Hurricane Harvey and Hurricane Irma

The impact of these natural disasters is personal. Planned Parenthood is an essential health care provider in many of the communities hit hard by these disasters. Several organizations are coming to the aid of those affected by Harvey and Irma. Here’s how you can help:

Texas

Hit by: Hurricane Harvey

Help NOW:

  • Volunteer with Planned Parenthood supporters in relief efforts. Already, more than 150 Planned Parenthood supporters assembled 4,000 period kits for Harvey victims in Houston.

Mexico

Hit by: Hurricane Harvey, Hurricane Irma, Hurricane Katia, earthquake

Help NOW:

Florida

Hit by: Hurricane Irma

Help NOW:

  • Volunteer with Planned Parenthood and other coalition partners to help communities that are most vulnerable. Volunteer Anna Eskamani says, “I volunteered with this effort last night to pass out free food, and the Friday before Irma made landfall, I also volunteered with a homeless outreach group to let the homeless know of their shelter options.”
  • Chip in to the Irma Community Recovery Fund to stand with folks in Florida.

U.S. Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, and the Caribbean

Hit by: Hurricane Harvey, Hurricane Irma

author’s note: this story involved a whole lot of research involving many topics (read on if you want to find out hehe). Once every five years, when the June solstice arrives and graces the sky with the midnight sun, a comet dashes by.

It is more than just a blinking light that moves at an unhinged speed. According to what you’ve heard, it looks like it stills in the middle of the vastness of space, and its tail flickers and shimmies in long tendrils of vibrant colors full of meaning — a subtle force that speaks to the humans who look up to the stars and set their eyes on the glowing meteorite, unique but just as intense for every single gaze. It speaks of soulmates and fate, of heavy truths and indelible bonds.

Each person sees a different pool of colors. You’ve heard more than a thousand stories, of people who saw the colors of the fireplace and others who were seized by the soothing hues of woodland during dawn. You’ve read about colors that go from the red blush of a beach beneath the sunset to the ivory traces of a wintry hill covered in thick snow. The colors do not give them the name of their soulmates, but once they find their other half, they will see those rich tones reflected in their lover’s eyes.

I think a lot of young and newly-out or closeted LGBT people believe that life outside “the closet” or life as an LGBT adult in general is either all fun all the time, or a horrendous series of discriminating events and a constant burden that inhibits your safety. And certainly our lives can be either of those things, but it is also possible to have a totally normal and fulfilling life as a gay, bi, or trans person that includes lots of happy moments and a healthy sex life and healthy friendships and regular life disappointments and some bad days and some great days. I think a lot of young LGBT people need to hear that there is a future for them and it doesn’t always have to be just gloom. It is possible to find partners and fall in love, it is possible for us to pursue career paths that make us as happy as possible, it is possible for us to find loving and caring friend groups and start our own families, etc. It is possible to just live a life. Our identities and realities don’t have to only be a source of strife, or politics, or shame, or fear of ourselves. They can be another part of a healthy and wonderful life.

I love being a lesbian- it is something I am very proud of, I am glad to be part of a group as historically resilient as LGBT people, and if you are LGBT too you should also take pride in being part of a group of people who, despite all the odds, have developed our own cultures and ways of living and above all else have carved out space for us to live our lives genuinely. Being LGBT isn’t this terrible, awful curse. It is a beautiful thing in its own right, even if people around you don’t recognize that, and I hope for all of us that we are able to find places and groups where we can feel happy about our lives and who we are. We all deserve that.

What the fuck are mushrooms what are they I have no clue please help

fruit but like. fungus fruit

like i wish i was making this up but like???? the reason they exist is for the same reasons fruit exists. like

fruit (meaning fruiting structures in this case, not fruits and veggies):

-made by plonts

-basically just the expanded ovary of the plant after the plant has sexy times

-holds seeds, which are baby plants that are genetically different from the mother. when the fruit falls the babies use the food in the fruit to grow into new plants

mushrooms:

-happen when two or more fungus living in the ground, in the wood, in whatever substrate the mushroom is growing on, have sexy times

-they dont really have typical sexy times?? like they just smash themselves together until they fuse and make a special arm thing made of cells with nuclei from all the fungi involved in the sexy fungus time

-the weird arm thing eventually grows up to above ground and develops into a mushroom with help from all the fungi parents underground

-the mushroom spits out spores. all the spores have recombined versions of the parents’ genes and are basically baby fungi cells. the mushroom pumps these out in the millions and they drift on the wind or whatever until they find a nice spot where they can live their happy fungus lives in peace. think about spores as seeds without the food for survival if it helps you???

-also a single mushroom can have up to 9 different parents

-and funguses can have literally 20k+ biological sexes so just smash that together and u prob have a baby one way or another

-basically mushrooms exist so the fungi can reproduce spores in a way that can better get picked up and spread around. if they stayed underground, the babies wouldn’t be able to get anywhere; when the spores are pumped out above ground somehow, they can get picked up by the wind, rain, animals, whatever and can go find a better place to live. mushrooms are distribution organs.

a good diagram (x):

-also fun side fact scientists have learned that lightning strikes in some fungus patches greatly accelerate the rate of mushroom production in certain species, to the point where commercial mushroom farms shock some of their fungus patches to promote growth. we think this is an evolutionary thing that some species have developed in response to trees getting struck by lightning. like if a tree gets struck, the funguses around it are like guys we’re gonna get so much food omg and start reproducing because they can afford to if they’re about to get a giant dead tree to eat

fungi are weird man

Reaching for the light // I’ve learned early on in my life that no matter how hard we try, we will always have times in our lives where we find ourselves in dark places. I’m currently in the darkest place I’ve ever been in, and it’s a constant battle for me to remind myself that it doesn’t end here. It’s in these darkest places and in these darkest moments that we are challenged the most; Causing us to learn the most, grow the most, and change the most…and by God’s grace, these dark places can transform into beautiful things. This is currently my deepest prayer and heart’s desire. Let the ruins come to life, in the beauty of Your name.

Frugal Witchy Tips #1

1 - Crystal Hack: You really don’t need special crystals to work your magick. Places like Walmart and most dollar stores have cute polished rocks that can work just as well when charged with intent. You can also just go find them out in the wilderness if you’re the outdoorsy type! Just pay attention to colors, shapes, and if you find them yourself look at where you found them for their associations! If that isn’t doing it for you, grab some acrylic paint and paint runes, little pictures, even just write words on them to strengthen their meaning to you. Be sure to seal them with Mod Podge or even clear nail polish so the paint doesn’t chip off!

2 - Dirt: It’s dirt cheap! Hahaha Joking aside, if you don’t mind the bit of extra work many practitioners use different kinds of dirt for different spells, and if you put some thought into it you can find good associations for most spells. I’ll list a few below;
Graveyard Dirt -
Spirit work and hexing (Be sure to ask permission from the spirits first!)
Crossroads Dirt - Life changes and hexing
Dirt from a Police Station or Courthouse - Magick relating to laws, justice and correcting wrongdoing. (You may want to avoid this one if you don’t want to draw the attention of the law to yourself.)
Dirt from Your Own Home: Protection of the home, family and hearth spells
Dirt from a Place You Want to Live: To help you find a good new home
The list goes on and on, an entire post could be made just listing the kinds of dirt that can be used in different spells, (Maybe a post for the future?) but just give it some thought and you can find an association to dirt for just about any spell.

3 - Candle Hack: Most practitioners know you can substitute white candles for just about any other color, but did you know it’s super easy to make your own candles? If you’re in the position to be able to order a few affordable things from Amazon or Etsy (or if you can make a trip to a local craft store) and have access to a heat source you can make any kind of candles you want! I often buy cheap white candles from the Dollar Tree just to beef up my collection of colorless wax and I always save the wax from old candles or wax melts that have lost their scent so I can add it to new candles! Just get yourself some basic wicks (or google how to make your own) and either buy some heat safe glass jars or a candle mold and there you go! You can also add herbs that you associate with the kind of spell you want to do to give your candle a bit of extra umph!

4 - Herbs: You do not need fancy organic herbs from a foreign land to work magick, the herbs you find at your local grocery store will work just fine! Don’t get me wrong, fancy herbs can be fun but they aren’t really necessary. For any specialty herb you read about I guarantee with a google search you can find a mundane culinary herb you can use instead.

5 - Sigils: I love sigils because you can make them anywhere anytime and do anything with them, all you need is a pencil and a piece of paper. Do a quick search for “how to make sigils” and you will find a whole slew of different methods, pick one out that works well for you and start getting creative! In a pinch you can turn any spell into a sigil, just charge it up and go!

Writing a Sunset: A Shitty How-to Manual for Writing Angst

Someone recently asked me the best way to write angst. Honestly, there is no best way. But I’ll do my darndest to explain what’s worked for me so far.

The best way to write angst is to write loss.

Now, I’ve seen this done so many ways before. I’ve seen death, I’ve seen destruction, I’ve seen cities burn and knives find their mark. With writers there’s an endless way to build and then knock down. Like lego bricks, you just have to find the best place to plant your foot for the entire structure to tumble down onto the carpet.

But my favorite kind of angst is actually something smaller.

My favorite is what I call “Writing a Sunset”.

A character is created. Someone that we all know and love. They’re build from the bone to the skin to every lash and every smile line. We watch them learn and grow and sink and fall and tower and realize and live. And I, as the author, make sure to give you every detail of her life until you can look at the page and want to reach in and steal their hand in yours.

I also make sure that this character loves sunsets.

It’s the most important time of day for them. That time when the earth is still and silent. That time when the warmth begins its slow travel past a seemingly infinite horizon. Thick in it’s colors, it sinks below and drowns, and in its panic it sends out flares of reds and oranges and pinks that shoot across the sky, burning holes into the atmosphere and letting the stars breathe.

And in that moment, when Orion is lounging against smothering blue and the tips of a nebula soak in the receding magma, this character owns their own world. All they have is the sky and all the sky has is itself and everything is perfect.

And it’s then that I make them blind.

There is something to say about taking away what a character cherishes most. Because in the end our families and our smallest loves are what keep us together. We crave things, it’s true. And material possessions help to find their places in our lives. Losing a grandmothers necklace could be sad and misplacing a treasure map leading to adventure could be devastating.

But I always found it best to not take away what someone loves. But to take away access to it. To know that every day there’s a sunset waiting for them same as always but no longer can they seek it out.

Don’t take away what someone loves.

Take away their hope of seeing it again.

If they’re a couple who want a child, take away that ability.

If he’s a dragon who needs to defend his keep, take away his fire.

If she’s a fairy who needs to fly, take away her wings.

But what I also find is that angst is not complete without hope. It’s pandoras box, really. And after sunsets, though it might seem dark, the dawn will eventually come.

And that’s where my favorite part comes in.

Taking away an ability doesn’t stop someone. It merely gives them a reason to try something else. And though it might seem bleak and hopeless, there’s always a chance. And that chance is sometimes the saddest and most joyful part of all.

When our character learns that by stretching their hands out and spreading their fingers like starfish to an aching sun, they can feel its first rays gliding though yearning fingers. Feel tears against their face and a smile stretching lines into permanence. Know that the darkness will always be there, but oh how the sunlight touches their skin…

If they can’t have children, have them adopt.

If the dragon can’t breathe fire, have it befriend the blacksmith.

And if she can no longer fly, then run until the wind burns her face and scars her feet and she feels free again.

Writing a Sunset is my favorite kind of angst because it’s the one we can relate to most. The fear of losing what we don’t realize we love and the need to reach out and tell them it’ll be okay. Writing a Sunset means having the will to accept a fate you had no choice in, and finding a new way to see once more.

Writing a Sunset reminds us all that sadness is real. But so is courage. And you can’t have one without the other.

Hello, any advice for a trans person worried about searching for a room for rent. Its time for me to move out and room for rents are relatively cheap where i live, im just worried if anyone will have trouble with me being trans. I also havent started any medical transition so i will be staring everything once i move and i really need the person i will be renting from to be supportive or at least accepting.

Lee says:
I couldn’t say if they’d have a problem with you being trans or not, so your worries may be based in reality.

If you’re in an accepting and liberal area, then you could try coming out to them in a casual way and see how they react.

If you’re in a more conservative area, you may want to stay closeted during the process of securing the rent as it’s legal in many states to discriminate against trans people in this regard.

Her Running Away From Them but Them Finding Her: BTS

I’m not responsible for any nosebleeds, hyperventilations, or heart attacks associated with this reaction. Thank you.

Jin:

After having enough of the troubles that came together with his bothersome occupation, you had tried to run away, packing all of your things in the middle of the night while he was on one of his raids. You sincerely hoped that with this, he won’t ever find you, even leaving him a small note to say how sorry you felt and that he shouldn’t try and look for you anymore. Unfortunately, you were wrong in your calculations and didn’t even have enough time to get to the airport before a black sedan drove to your side and forced you down into one of the leather seats, where SeokJin already waited for you.

“Love, I seriously hope that you didn’t believe in any chance of escaping.”

Suga:

When he confessed you of his occupation, you knew from then on that your relationship won’t last for much longer, since you were never a person that liked danger and adrenaline, settling for the more quiet prospects of life. And true to your word, you decided to leave the man with no calls or mesagges, simply disappearing after your trip to a shopping mall.

A day passed, then another, and there was no sign of YoonGi even realizing that you were gone. You nearly danced in glee, thinking that you got off easy from the dangerous man. Only that you didn’t; which you realized after a phone call.

“I’m giving you another week of free time, and on a Sunday, I expect your ass to be back home. Understood?”

J-Hope:

After the break-up with your infamous boyfriend, or ex-boyfriend, you had decided to start your life anew, though it wasn’t much of a likeable decision, but more like a must. HoSeok was against you two breaking up, so the reality of situation was that you ran away from him, and were now hiding, travelling the country after working in diners for a month or two, collecting enough money to move towns. It was not the best decision, but it was better than staying with somebody who did murder for his career. Of course, what you didn’t know was the fact that through his gory work HoSeok had loads of powerful connections, tracking you down easily.

Getting to your new job, one early morning, you were struck speechless as the man you were trying to avoid so dearly was sitting there, just there, eating his breakfast, completely concentrated on his food and not even seeing you. Or so you thought, so you tried to run away again, only to be stopped by his voice.

“Where do you think you’re going, this time?”

Rap Monster:

This man, even before you knew he was a gang leader, was giving you the shivers with his harsh glare. After you found out what was his occupation, however, everything clicked in your head and you instantly swung your tail under, leaving him be with all your stuff still at his place.

You decided to stay at a friend’s place for a couple of days, before renting a cheap place for yourself. Yeah, didn’t think so. NamJoon found you quickly, knocking on your friend’s door so harshly that it nearly flew off of its hinges, leaving you scared speechless, pale from shock and nearly hyperventilating.

As your friend let him in, you had trouble carrying his strong gaze. “You’re like an undisciplined dog. Running away from your owner just like that. I’m taking you home and putting a collar on that pretty neck of yours; try running away again, and we’ll see what happens.”

JiMin:

You knew that JiMin will find you quickly, it was like hide and seek for him; just a game, but you were still going to try; what if you succeeded? However, your positivity soon came to a halt as you noticed your cards being blocked, police occasionally knocking on your door, as they were reported of were noises and smells coming from your place. Your life, albeit slowly, was becoming a living nightmare.

The final drop were the photos of your friends sent to your post, though they were from far away distance. It terrified you, just the thought of any of them getting harmed and you being at fault was sending your stomach on to a task of a billion somersaults.

You had to come back, and you had to do it quick, or else who knows what might happen to the people you cherished.

“That didn’t take too long, now, Baby… I was expecting a better chase from you…”

V:

TaeHyung had always been a clingy man, add to that formula the fact that he was also in a gang and you’ll get a completely undesirable man. Those were the reasons why you left him; he didn’t you give any room to breathe and he scared you to the bone.

Occasionally, you still felt him everywhere you went. While sleeping, you felt his hands snake around your form, whispering in your ear incognitive sentences. You could hardly sleep, leaving you exhausted and beyond repair.

Your friends, being the good buds that they were, invited you to an art museum, to help you to relax while spending time in your favourite environment. Oh, how thankful you were for that. Only when you were finally there did you realize what a bad decision to come it was.

The familiar hands snaked around your body, pressing you against his lean build. “Long time no see, Love.” he had whispered into your ear. You knew then, that there will be no chance of escape ever again.

JungKook:

After you left his house, JeongGuk came out with a brilliant plan hot to slowly drive you insane, setting it into motion as soon as he got the word of you finally finding a permanent place to live in.

He appeared before your eyes from day to day, waving at you, or smiling cutely, not doing anything above that. He knew what that did to you; you were slowly becoming sick with the idea of being stalked- by him. That was fun, to watch you squirm everyday just from seeing him. He knew it won’t take much longer before you’d come back to him in hysterics, begging him to stop, but just when you’d step through his threshold, you’d never step out again.

I crossed my arms as I glared at him, waiting for him to finish his little show. Anger and irritation bubbled inside of me, and I mentally cursed myself for trusting him enough to leave him alone. I go into the shop for five fucking minutes, and I come out to this shit. I tried pulling him away from the girls that were flirting with him, but it just shrugged me off. The worst part about the whole thing? He was flirting back.

His ass was flirting with other people and he was loving it. I’m not sure if he got the memo, but he’s not single anymore. He’s in a relationship with me, and I have half a mind to kick his ass. I clutched harder at the plastic bag that was in my hand, the contents were requested by none other than the douche himself. I grunted, deciding that he wasn’t going to finish anytime soon. I walked up to him, gripping his shoulder and turning him around.

“We’re leaving.” I said sternly.

“Who’s the slut?” One of the girls asked.

“I’m his girlfriend.” I spat, anger coursing through me.

“Oh really? Then why is he over here?” Another girl asked.

“Slut.” The first one said.

“Pornhub called, honey, they say your resume is too extensive.” I spat.

“I’m not going anywhere, why don’t you find somewhere else to be.” Pietro offered in an annoyed tone.

“Fine,” I shoved the bag in his chest, walking away, “But you’re finding a new place to live.”

It didn’t take him long to appear at my side, but I didn’t acknowledge his existence. I was still beyond pissed at the little act he pulled moments ago. He wouldn’t like it if I did that stuff to him, he’d be pissed. I’d get my ear chewed off, so why does he think it’s okay for him to do it? I still had my arms crossed over my chest, a clear indication that I was angry. Despite my body language, he still tried to talk to me.

He said that he was confused, which just pissed me off even more. What the hell does he mean? He doesn’t get to be confused, he gets to feel like an ass. I sent a glare his way, instantly shutting him up. I looked away from him, rolling my eyes and focusing on getting home. I’ll deal with him there, right now I’m too angry to talk to him. He didn’t even stand up for me, he just let them trash talk me.

“What the hell is wrong with you?”Pietro shouted as I closed the door to the apartment.

“Oh, I don’t know, my boyfriend just completely forgot that my ass existed. Forgive me if I’m a little pissed off.” I glared, flipping him off.

“What are you talking about?” He asked, eyebrows furrowed.

“You were flirting with those girls! I heard you the entire time! One of them was even talking dirty to you!” I yelled, “God, Pietro, where do you draw the line?!”

“You’re just being jealous and oversensitive.” Pietro said, walking past me.

“I’m not any of those things! I’m just worried that maybe my boyfriend is cheating on me!” I yelled, feeling the anger mix with betrayal.

“I can’t help it, Y/n! The ladies like me, get over it. I’m not going to stop just because some worthless little girl doesn’t like it.” He spat, glaring at me.

I was silent for a moment, absorbing his words completely. Is that all I was to him? Just some little girl? Not his girlfriend or anything? My brows furrowed, and I took his words to heart. He can’t just get over himself for two seconds to listen to me? I took in a deep breath, realizing that his opinion on this matter wasn’t going to be changing anytime soon. I saw his face soften, and I wiped the tears away from my eyes.

“Worthless?” I questioned.

“Oh, come on, you know I didn’t mean it like that.” He reasoned.

“Then how did you mean it?” I asked quietly, but he didn’t respond, “That’s what I thought.”

With that, I quickly walked into the bedroom that him and I shared. I got out the suitcase that I took with me on extended missions. I started packing my things, no longer feeling welcome in here. I took a deep breath, sadness now kicking in rather than anger. I sighed, shaking my head as I shoved more clothes into the suitcase. I heard Pietro enter the room, thanks to the small breeze of wind that had picked up out of nowhere.

“What are you doing?” Pietro questioned.

“I am taking my worthless self out of here so you can continue living your wonderful life as a bachelor.” I said, zipping up the suitcase.

“You can’t leave me, Y/n. I love you, don’t do this to me.” He pleaded.

“Love me? You’ve been flirting and getting random chicks numbers the entire time you’ve been dating me, you don’t stand up for me when they insult me, then you call me a worthless little girl, and you have the audacity to say you love me?” I questioned, narrowing my eyes.

“Please, just stay with me.” He pleaded, and I sighed as I looked into his eyes.

He looked like a lost puppy on a rainy day.

“Do you promise to stop flirting with people that aren’t me?” I questioned, slightly hopeful.

“I,” He stuttered, “I don’t.” He trailed off and I shook my head, laughing dryly.

“It’s nice to know that the man I’ve been dating for 3 years doesn’t love me enough to actually act like he’s dating me.” I said, moving past him and to the door.

“You don’t understand.” Pietro said, blocking the door.

“I understood clearly when you called me worthless,” Tears formed, “I understood when you flirted with the other girls and acted like you didn’t know me,” My voice broke, “And I understood when you couldn’t even promise you’d stop. I’m not good enough, and I never will be.”

“Just give me another chance, Princessa.” He said, cupping my cheeks.

“Pietro, don’t you get it?” I removed his hands from my face, “I’m exhausted! I’m mentally and physically drained from trying to take the pressure and the hurt of your actions. From arguing with you over the same things. I’ve given you dozens of chances.” I huffed, and he went silent.

I shoved him out of the way, walking out and slamming the door shut. Tears fell from my eyes as I left the complex, my suitcase on my shoulders like it was a backpack. The weight of the entire event settled onto my mind, and I angrily wiped my eyes. I didn’t expect him and I to actually end, but if he thinks I’m not good enough for him then I’ll leave him be. I know when to push, and when to walk away, and today it was the ladder.

I found myself walking to Tony’s place, which was the only place I felt like I could go right now. Questions swam through my mind, drowning out everything else. Had he been cheating on me? When did he decide that I wasn’t good enough? I was just so tired of fighting to keep him, and fighting to make him see that what he was doing was wrong. I was emotionally exhausted, and, in turn, it made me physically exhausted.

“What are you doing here?” Tony asked, not looking at me as I entered the room.

“I,” I took a deep breath, “I was hoping I could stay here for a little while.”

“Hey, what’s wrong?” He turned around, hearing the sadness in my voice.

“It’s nothing.” I shook my head as he came closer.

“Well, I’d love to hear about nothing.” He joked.

“We broke up.” I held back a cry.

“What? Why? Do I need to kill him?” Tony asked, visibly concerned.

“He just makes me exhausted.” You sighed.

“Well, how about you have a seat and I’ll pour us some drinks?” He offered.

“What’s the price?” I eyes him.

“Dirt, details, blackmail.” He stated, turning around and going to get a couple glasses.

“So the usual?” I questioned, sitting down.

Feel free to add more!!!!!!

So I got my housing assignment for this summer with Microsoft, which I’m real grateful for to start because “hey find a place for yourself to live in this unfamiliar area” sounds exactly like the stress-inducing kinda thing I Would Like To Avoid. So the fact that they’re like “yeah here’s your address have fun” is like??? cool thank you sweet thats one less Adult Thing i gotta worry about

But also, the apartment is fully furnished already??? nice??? they got a huge ass list of things that are already included in the accommodations and i pretty much dont need to bring anything thats wild

but the REAL thing that has me laughing is this part of the list

namely

its possible they mean “if your apartment is a two-bedroom apartment, then there’s a TV in the second bedroom”

my apartment is one-bedroom. so ive decided to interpret this as “yeah when you walk into the bedroom theres the TV and the Second TV to Double The TV Experience.”

my dream is to sit on my bed absolutely wall-eyed simultaneously watching two TV channels, like how the kings live
