finally the list got it right!

Did you guys really think you’d get away this year without my Favorite TV list??? (muahahaha) I’m back and I’ve brought the best TV (just in my humble opinion, of course) with me so LET’S DISCUSS.

Instead of doing the long and drawn-out individual posts like I have in the past, let’s just get right to it (if you follow me on Twitter you’ve already seen the list anyway!)

  1. The Leftovers - This show was so deeply weird and wonderful and heavy and surprisingly funny and original and beautiful and its final season was perfect perfect perfect perfect. It moved me like no other show did this year except for maybe…
  2. Halt and Catch Fire - Another perfect final season for a show that admittedly got off to a rocky start. I laughed, I cried, and then I cried some more. Beautifully done at every level. Gonna miss this one.
  3. American Vandal - THIS SHOW HAS NO RIGHT BEING AS GOOD AS IT IS. It is literally just a spoof on shows like Serial and The Jinx and Making a Murderer about high schoolers drawing dicks on cars and somehow becomes a pretty poignant teen drama full of characters you are somehow invested in. I don’t understand how in the world they pulled this off, but I loved every single second of it.
  4. The Good Place - The most brilliantly executed plot twist followed by a brilliantly executed second season. I hope Mike Schur keeps getting to make whatever he wants to make forever.
  5. Bojack Horseman - This is the third year in a row that this show makes the list, so I don’t really have much to say other than that the sad horse show continues to be the best.
  6. Big Little Lies - This could have easily been a soapy, melodrama about rich white ladies who live on the beach, but damn, this show had something to say. Beautiful and relevant and filled to the brim with complicated and messy women.
  7. Crazy Ex-Girlfriend - Just when I thought they were maybe going a little too hard on the ‘Crazy’ part, they turned this manic Fatal Attraction into a refreshingly honest exploration of what that ‘Crazy’ really means. All while still being ridiculously hilarious – this show is a shot of joy even when it’s at its darkest.
  8. The Young Pope - Look, you’re either gonna hate The Young Pope, or love it. There is no in-between here. This is batshit-insane arthouse nonsense at its finest and almost a year later I don’t think I could tell you whether this show is any *good*, but I do know I enjoyed the hell out it - though I don’t think anyone enjoyed it as much as Jude Law, which I think is a large part of what makes it work so well.
  9. The Deuce - A TV show about 70s era prostitution and pornography is…tricky subject matter to tackle, to say the least, but you can always trust in David Simon to bring warmth, humanity and even a little humor to the dark, forgotten corners of the world.
  10. The Handmaid’s Tale - A show that’s hard to watch but impossible to tear your eyes away from, and as scary as the most terrifying horror movies out there. Here’s hoping it remains just a fantasy…

And of course the shows that didn’t make the list but are really fuckin’ great and you should watch too: Better Call Saul, One Mississippi, Downward Dog, One Day at a Time, Glow, Mindhunter, Superstore, Catastrophe, American Gods, Brockmire

Thank you and have a nice day. The world may be garbage, but we’ll always have TV. ❤️

Best of Fandometrics: SDCC Edition

Fandometrics launched in January 2015 and celebrates entertainment fandoms every week. SDCC celebrates fandom every July. Looking back at the last 129 weeks of data, we found a metric ton of overlap between what’s on the lists and what’s at the show. We pored over 387 unique TV, Movies, and Celebrities lists to bring you this Best of Fandometrics: SDCC edition.

Supernatural was in its 10th season the year Fandometrics launched. Tumblr had already become a home base for the show’s fans, and boy, are they passionate. SPN fans having a reaction GIF for everything has become a meme in its own right. One of the most popular reblog chains of all time is this thread about Dean in gym shorts.

The show dominates any list it can. It’s been ranked number one in our Year in Review’s Live Action TV list four years in a row and has been on every single weekly TV list since it launched.

The actors of SPN have just as much influence in our Celebs list. Jensen Ackles has appeared on a whopping 128/129 lists. Misha Collins (@mishacollins) has been on 96 and Jared Padalecki on 63.

Doctor Who

Supernatural may be in the midst of a long run, but it’s no match for the longevity of Doctor Who. The show started in 1963, and has appeared on 104 out of 129 TV lists.

According to Union Metrics, the November 23rd, 2013 episode “The Day of the Doctor” saw some of the highest engagement for a single episode of television. 1 million people shared 5 million posts that day.

Peter Capaldi is the Doctor with the most Celebs list appearances (5/129), but David Tennant comes in a close second (4/129). Jenna Coleman is the only companion to appear on the lists (2/129). Alex Kingston, who portrays the Doctor’s wife, River Song, appeared once on December 28th, 2015, following her storyline in that year’s Christmas episode. The newest Doctor, Jodie Whittaker, has appeared on the Celebs list every single week since her residency was announced: one week. We’re sure she’ll continue batting that high average.

Marvel Cinematic Universe

MCU films are so prevalent on the Movies list we took a look at them holistically. Captain America: Civil War has appeared the most (45/129). This is followed by Thor (44/129), Captain America: The Winter Soldier (42/129) and Iron Man (35/129). The absolute most talked about movie on Tumblr has been made by Marvel 46 out of 129 weeks.

And the MCU superstars? Chris Evans has appeared on the Celebs list the most—all 129 of them. He’s followed closely by Tom Hiddleston (127/129) and Sebastian Stan (107/129).

Honorable Mentions

Tumblr TV fandoms are huge. They’re loyal. It’s no surprise that so many other titles that have appeared multiple times over the past 29 months. Here are just a few highlights:

  • Animated series Steven Universe is the only other show to appear on all 129 TV lists.
  • Another long-running series, Once Upon a Time, has appeared 108 times on the TV list.
  • And finally, Sherlock. The last of the famed Superwholock trifecta, made it on 97 TV lists. An impressive number considering their short seasons and long hiatuses.

Company Truck, Seriously?

This happened over the weekend. I work weekends and was on my way to work. To get there I take a freeway. As every driver SHOULD know, but doesn’t. The left lane is for people traveling faster and slower drivers should move right to let them pass.

Now I am sure this is a pretty common problem in every city where you get people who are too clueless, or distracted to actually move over. This causes traffic congestion, and basically makes those shitty commutes that much shittier.

So as I am going to work, I am doing slightly above 100km/h in the 100km/h zone. I quickly approach some cars in the fast lane doing 80km/h. Unfortunately, there was another car in the right lane matching that speed. They would not pass each other.

We came by an exit and the car in the slow lane exited. The guy in the fast lane sped up until he got to the next slow car, where he matched again. It was just enough that no one could pass him in the slow lane.

After dealing with this guy for the better part of my drive, he finally signals to the right lane and the exit. As the long line of cars in the fast lane pass, he is having a grand time laughing and flipping the middle finger. I’m sure he got it back, but what a piece of shit.

That’s when I noticed that he was in a company vehicle. I took note of the company name and website, then continued on to work.

Once at work I pulled up his website and saw that he was just a small private company. He listed his home address, which is about 45 minutes to the east of the city (along the exit he took).

I ran across the street to the gas station with one of the few remaining pay phones still in operation. I called him up and asked him to come give me a quote on a massive rush job. I booked the appointment for 10am at a location that was 1.5 hours west of the city. In total, that would be 3 hours each direction.

He gladly accepted the job thinking it would be a big one. I’ve never been to the area I sent him.

the set list for the wings tour final feels like reliving bts’ journey. they’re taking armys down memory lane and going right back to their roots, performing all the songs that got them where they are today. the debut tracks, the hits, the old faves and new faves. it’s all so surreal. things have changed a lot since the release of a lot of these songs, they reflect so many of the boy’s thoughts and feelings from back then to hear them singing the lyrics now just brings this whole new dimension to them.

Okay! I can finally kickstart this series because I have these all figured out: Keiran and Dimitri Caroline, the main characters for (what’s hopefully going to be a webcomic) The Hazard List

My thoughts on 13 Reasons Why Characters (Contains Spoilers)

Hannah Baker: I hate everything that happened to Hannah. Those terrible scenes just grabbed my heart and crumbled it into dust. She went through so much and felt like she had no one to talk to. Majority of her friends just betrayed her except for Clay Jenkins. The only thing about Hannah that I found messed up about her was that she pushed away the one person that actually wanted to be there for her.

Clay Jensen: I felt bad for him, having to hear about the awful things done to the person he loved and watching him struggle to try and get justice for her. I just wished he was able to overcome the fear he had when talking to Hannah and told her how he really felt. There was that moment where he was a dick to her when she tried to talk about the car accident and he completely shut her down.

Tony: Ever since the beginning i got this mysterious vibe off Tony and i didn’t really like it but i realized it was all for Hannah and honoring what she wanted, I’m really glad he decided to show Ms. Baker the tapes even though I was dying for him to tell her sooner.

Jeff Atkins: OMG WHY?!? JUSTICE FOR JEFF TOO! He had absolutely nothing to do with the tapes and all he wanted was Clay to be happy and to be with Hannah. He was such a sweet guy who definitely didn’t need to go.

Jessica Davis: I loved her, then i hated her, and then I felt really bad for her and like Hannah I hope Jessica gets the justice she deserves. I really liked her at the beginning, she was such a cool person and her and Hannah were so so similar. They had that friendship, where you can consider each other sisters. But then I hated how she automatically blamed Hannah instead of Alex for the list that he made and then blamed her for end of their break-up. She didn’t even try to listen to Hannah. And I hated that she didn’t want to see justice for a girl who was once her friend. But then it all started to make sense and it was because she was fed a soup full of lies by her boyfriend.

Justin Foley: I feel like Justin Foley actually does have a good heart but he just didn’t make the right decisions. I loved how much he cared about Jessica but what he did to her was completely awful. But, it killed me when he called out to his mom after her boyfriend just choked her son and she just walked away. And what really also got to me was when he told Jessica about almost jumping and said he couldn’t because he was thinking about her almost made me forget about what he did but then Jessica told him off, and I remembered the pain he helped cause her. It’s clear that what he did was eating him up inside (as it should) and now he just has to live with that

Bryce aka dickshit: FUCK HIM. HOPE HE CREMATES IN HELL. If you watched the show, i’m pretty sure this is all I need to say about that disgusting animal.

Courtney Crimsen: Hate her. Hated her. And still hate her. I understand she didn’t want people knowing she was lesbian but that was no reason to throw Hannah under the bus. Coming out is hard, especially when you go to school with a bunch of judgmental, immature idiots but that’s still not a justification for what she did. And then i absolutely hated her when she tried to stand up and protect Bryce like he wasn’t a rapist who raped not only Hannah but Jessica too. I get she was lying to herself about him not be a rapist so she wouldn’t have to consider herself a lesbian but she just needed to finally admit the truth to herself.

Sheri: I liked her and….. i don’t hate her. She should’ve called the cops but I understand her reasons her hitting and running a stop sign. She was scared. But she should’ve never left an slightly intoxicated Hannah there after she offered her a ride. But i do feel like Sherri has her heart in the right place by hanging around the old man who got in the accident and by finally going to the police.

Alex Standall: I hated him for making the list and letting Jessica be mad at Hannah for it. But he was the only one who actually had a brain in the ‘lets take Clay down so the world won’t know about all the horrible things we’ve done” group. He was the first one to actually wanted to tell the truth and accept the punishments. He was also a sweet character and I really hope he isn’t dead.

Zach: I thought he was sweet too. But i didn’t like how he didn’t speak up for Hannah and actually take into consideration that she needed help, but i can’t really blame him for the fact that he was scared and it’s hard to know that there’s something wrong with someone and actually being able to help them. Knowing that there’s something really dark about a person and just freezing up with fear and not knowing what to do. And what people do in situations like this is they take the easy way out and just ignore it and act like it never happened. But i truly think he actually liked Hannah.

Tyler: Fucking creep. Seriously he should have his camera shattered into a million and one pieces. And i know this is just a theory but i just wanna put this out there and most of you are probably thinking this too but i’m pretty sure Tyler shot Alex. He had all those guns and he took down Alex’s picture. It makes sense. Anyways, i don’t understand why he was trying so hard to try and get into the  ‘lets take Clay down so the world won’t know about all the horrible things we’ve done” group. I think he’s a psychopath and that side of him will unravel in season two of this show.

Marcus Cole: I thought he was actually a nice guy when he asked Hannah to go out with him and then once he came and hour late and sexually assaulted Hannah that’s when I hated him. He cared wayy to much about his reputation.

Ryan: self-centered douche bag. The only moment i’ll applaud him is when he shut Courtney down when she tried to deny Bryce was a rapist. I saw his point on having her poem open to the world and about her struggles reaching out and connecting to other people’s problem but it was personal and he should’ve asked for permission.

Mr. Porter: What’s the point of having a guidance counselor if they’re not going to help guide you out of your problems?? I’m happy he felt bad for not being able to stop what Hannah did to herself. Out of all these people, he was the only one that actually gets paid to help people out of their problems

Word Count: 7,000 (just for you Caro!)

Warnings: language, fluff, angst, mentions of Alzheimer’s, character death, awkwardness

A/N: This is long, and it’s a lot of reader and Peggy becoming friends with Bucky x reader woven in. Just a fair (spoilery) warning, it’s hella sad with a hopeful ending. I wrote this in one sitting, too, stupid JSD! This is my submission for @sanjariti‘s 7k Follower Celebration Challenge. Congrats!!! My prompt was “Is this seat taken?”

Requested: #30. “Darling, we’re going to be- wow.” & #39. “It’s taking everything that I’ve got to not fuck you right here, right now.” From the prompt list. Thanks for requesting! x

Today was the day of the official Dunkirk Premiere. Harry had been buzzing all week, talking about how excited he was for Y/N to finally be able to watch him in action.

“Yeh almost ready, sweetheart?” He calls from downstairs, pacing around the room as the nerves start to build up.

“Give me a second, just touching up my make-up!” Harry sighed at your response, shaking his head slightly before taking a seat on your shared sofa.

Ten minutes had past and you still hadn’t come down, “Darling, we’re going to be- wow.” He sucked in a breath once you came into view. You wore a long, silky red dress that had a slit on the left side, exposing from the top of your thigh to the bottom on your feet. Your hair was perfectly curled as you made you way down the stairs.

“You best close that mouth of yours, don’t want to be eating any flies now do we?” You chuckle, placing a kiss to his cheek before grabbing your bag.

“Yeh look incredible.” He finally says once you both reach the elevator, his hand finding it’s way around your waist, pulling you closer to his side before dipping his head down, “It’s takin’ everything that I’ve got to not fuck yeh right here, right now.” His voice raspy as his warm breath tickles your ear, sending shivers down your spine.

“Keep it together, H.” You smile up through your eyelashes. The elevator doors finally open, allowing the both of you to enter. It was silent at first, both of you didn’t know what to say, secret glances were shared as the both of you remained still.

“Fuck it.” He grunts, pushing you forcefully back onto the elevator walls, you let out a huff before his lips attacked yours, his tongue immediately roams your mouth, your arms wrapping themselves around his neck. His hands trailing down your body, taking in every curve before landing on your exposed thigh, his cold rings against your skin was enough to leave you dripping. The familiar sound of the bell, indicating that you were on the ground floor, chimed through your ears. You both split, you quickly fix up your hair before the two doors open once again.

“We’ll finish that tonight, yeah?” He winks, wrapping his arm around your waist.

This is what I’ve always wanted.

Send in your request!

MUSE A and B were teenage sweethearts. it was love at first sight except that they avoided their feelings until they finally made it official in eleventh grade and continued up to senior year. MUSE A decided that this small town wasn’t enough for him and decided to move to a big city where he could make something of himself. he didn’t really consider MUSE B, who didn’t want to leave, and they had a devastating break-up. fast forward to four years later and he actually did it!!! he became something!! (rockstar, a-list actor, model, w/e) as a mini vacation/(a reason we could make discuss) he decides to come back home for a while and it’s all very lowkey and kept secret so no one will know. he finally comes home, and on the first day while he’s out getting coffee who does he run into? MUSE B, who still lives there and is just as lovely as ever except…she’s got a four year old latched onto her leg. of course he automatically assumes the child is hers, and of course he’s right. and of course it goes right over his head that it’s actually his kid before asking; ‘who’s the father?’ and of course she can’t tell him because it would ruin everything and she’s still heartbroken and in love so she lies and says it’s MUSE C (unplayable) and before you know it MUSE A actually finds out that the child is his and oh man he’s gonna have to step up but she doesn’t want him to and someone please give me this.

ten easy steps to formulate a strong scholarship essay

as i enter into my first year of graduate school, i figured it was finally time to tap into all this free internet money folks kept saying exists. writing essays is easy, right? we do it all the time in academic settings, why not try to get paid for it…??

before you get to writing it’s important to actually find some scholarships. here’s an excellently organized post by @jesussbabymomma that covers multiple databases. got some? great. let’s get to work.

     >> the way i organize a scholarship essay is breaking it down to individual tasks [makes the whole situation far less daunting]; i top each task list with the scholarship name and the due date  <<

1. the easiest way to start is to specify the requirements of your scholarship essay. go straight to the source, copy-paste the directions, write them down, put em somewhere you can continually look back on. is it a personal statement? are they expecting you to present knowledge on a certain subject? do they just want you to talk about how worthy you are of free money? asking your educated opinion on a topical issue? whatever it is, know it in and out. the actual worst thing is putting hella time into a scholarship essay only to realize you misunderstood the directions.

2. if this essay requires you to write expertly on something you know nothing about, gather your sources. tap into those databases you’ve used for research papers in academia [or google scholar is always a great free resource]. hone in on that subject and get to searching.

3. as you find usable sources, begin to create an essay outline. mine tend to be pretty lengthy and detailed.. by all means use an outline style that fits your needs. there’s a few different components to this step; i handle this pretty much the same way i would a regular research paper..

  • solidify your argument; (if there is an argument you need to make); i’ve found delving into my new-found sources helps me sort of figure out my stance along the way. look at all sides of the issue, bring them up in your essay, impress them with your ability to think critically. you got it, superstar.
  • consolidate sources; i will often paste links right in my outline. i then copy the specific quotes from the source and place them exactly where i want to use them in my argument. this helps so i don’t have to go fishing later.
  • gain understanding of the content; it’s.. it’s pretty important to know what it is you’re writing about.

4. after your outline is created, take a detour and write the works cited [bibliography, reference page, get-out-of-plagiarism-free card]; you certainly don’t have to do this step here.. i know some people like to wait until the end. i just think it’s good to get out of my head a little bit… put the critical-argument-creating/ stream-of-consciousness-writing on hold and do some good old-fashioned citing.

5. at this point you’re likely ready to begin the first draft. which in my case is essentially is taking the bullet points out of my outline and changing the font to something that may even look like it’s work the thousands of dollars i’m hoping to receive.

6. if you’re anything like me, this next step is the hardest.. proofread && DEDUCE. we’ve developed this amazing skill of cranking out ten-page papers… but now we’re being asked to operate within a 500-1000 word parameter. (sometimes less?!? like some have 140 characters yeah uhm okay). here i take out any extraneous adjectives and run-on sentences. i blame the lack of brevity on my degree in the humanities sector.

7. once you get sick of reading your own work, find friends to edit. peer reviewing is certainly worth the shot at deduced tuition. when i’m crunched for time, this is the step i skip.. but i always feel more comfortable submitting something i wrote that a few others have looked over as well.

8. next, take the time to research the scholarship organization. for schmoozing purposes. this can happen earlier in the process too.. don’t ask me why i decide to see where the organization’s principles lie until after i’ve written the paper.. i take this time to learn a bit about who i’m asking money from, and make a few tweaks to the essay if i need to.

9. almost done!! final proofread aloud. this really helps with cutting down on word count, and just ensuring the whole thing moves smoothly. i’m always pleasantly surprised how much better my essay flows after i read it out loud.

10. once you feel confident in your paper, send it off! my final step is submit & schedule a time to check back.  sometimes organizations will post on the scholarship site which day they make their decision. make a note to come back that particular day to see the results! hopefully, you’ll get an exciting congratulatory email beforehand.. but it doesn’t hurt to be sure.

try these out, let me know if they work for you! now get out there and make that moneyyyy :}

“There’s a girl, I thought there weren’t any girls here?” Thomas asked and Newt shrugged.

“Well we don’t think of her as a girl, she’s one of us… been here so long.” He chuckled and waved at you. “You know (Y/N) if you get any hotter we’ll have to put the fire out.”

“How do you think Alby lit the thing.” You hummed and pushed past the boy who went bright red.

“That was so awkward.” Thomas muttered and Newt shrugged.

Pretty Little Liars 7x20 Til Death Do Us Part - Thoughts

I literally just finished watching the finale and A-List Wrap party right now. I have not seen a single comment about the finale, I don’t know how it was received, at all. Sorry if these comments are just reinforcing what everyone else has been talking about for the past several hours, because again, I have no idea what everyone is saying. Here are my thoughts!

- It did not feel like a series finale to me and I cannot pinpoint why. I felt the goodbye scene at the end was not strong enough. Sasha said that they had to keep re-filming that scene because she was crying too much when she said “this feels like the end of something” - well, I think they went with the take that had not enough emotion, to the point it felt like a regular line and it lost its power. Not just this line, but in general, I never got a sense of “farewell PLL” from this episode, unfortunately. Not saying it’s a bad episode, but, I didn’t get that sense of “thank you and goodbye Spencer, Hanna, Aria, Emily, Alison and Rosewood”.

- Marlene said that there is one question she cannot wait for fans to find out, but she can’t tell us what this question is without telling us who AD is. What the hell could be this question?

- I’ve always said Pretty Little Liars is a two-part show: half a romance show, other half a mystery show. They really demonstrated that tonight, by having almost a very equal divide between the romance and mystery. The entire first hour was romance, and the entire second hour was mystery (plus farewells). The first hour, I was shaking my head. “This is not good. Not good at all.” Sure, there were some cute scenes, like Emison’s proposal, but there was too much fluff in the first half. The second half, it really kicked off.

- So, my theory ended up being so damn accurate, what the hell! I can’t believe it! Even though Spencer’s twin was my foremost suspect going into the finale, I still ended up being shocked, because of the simple fact that they went with it almost exactly exactly exactly how I said! Not just the who, but also the why! I even got the name Alex Drake!

- Okay, so I got the part wrong about the twin having helped Charlotte play the game from season 3 onwards. And honestly, that is my biggest complaint about the finale: AD started playing the game after Charlotte died, period. Again this is my biggest complaint and this is where the finale fell flat for me. Technically, PLL could have ended with Charlotte’s reveal in 610. Everything we got with Alex Drake’s story, was purely an extension because we got renewed for more seasons. I just know there will be people saying “ugh I’m so mad that AD has no connection to pre-time jump” and yes I fully agree, and that’s my biggest complaint too… but my response is: weren't the extra 2 years nice? Sure AD is irrelevant to seasons 1-6A, sure that is incredibly underwhelming and no where near as good as the fan theories… but we got an extra 2 years of PLL in our lives because of this extra, final A story? I’m grateful? #alwayslookingforthepositiveside

- I do not understand Ashley’s comment. Quote “you finally get to find out who A is, who’s been torturing us for the last 7 years”. Girl… it was just a month or two, in Rosewood time.

- Am I the only one who never really felt a sense of danger, or intensity? Weird, since it’s the series finale, and literally anyone could’ve died. It’s not like we had another season, and I knew Spencer was safe from dying. Yet, I never truly did feel like Alex would win the fight. I can’t take PLL villains seriously for some unexplainable reason.

- I really liked the flashbacks that explicitly showed us the scenes where “Spencer” was actually Alex. That was great. I wanted more flashbacks to earlier seasons, however. (I did appreciate that they played some music from the pilot, though!)

- THANK YOU MARLENE for not doing another Charlotte reveal where A sits around crying all episode, trying to make us feel sorry for them. Sure, Alex (nearly said Twincer!) had a sad story, but she embraced her sadness, and it fuelled her anger to take over Spencer’s life. That was really good. I loved seeing Troian walk around with an axe. Bless.

- I was surprised we didn’t hear of Radley (as a sanitarium). Honestly, thank god.

- I think the motive is the strongest we’ve ever had, of all the A’s so far: Alex was so jealous of Spencer so she wanted to break up the girls, yet her threats only made them closer. Therefore, she decided, “why break them up, if I can just become Spencer?” That is so evil and I love it.

- I EVEN CALLED IT that there will be a scene where someone holds a gun to Spencer and Twincer, and they have to prove who the real Spencer is. I LOVED that!

- I have a feeling that once I finish typing this, the first word I’ll be seeing people use to describe the motive is cliche. Especially the above mentioned scene about not knowing which Spencer to shoot. It is a bit cliche. (”I’m Buzz Lightyear!” … “no, I’m Buzz Lightyear!” Toy Story 2.. anyone? That’s where my mind went, lol) An evil, jealous twin is a tad cliche. I can’t defend that. But within this world of PLL, it worked well I guess.

- Sorry Troian, I wasn’t too convinced by the British accent unfortunately. But my gosh you slayed the rest. WHY COULDN’T WE GET AT LEAST ONE SCENE WITH TROIAN IN THE HOODIE!? That was a real shame. I get that it was set one year later, but… still, Alex should’ve wore the hoodie for a scene or two. For satisfaction’s sake, and it’s also just iconic for PLL.

- SHOUTOUT TO A FOLLOWER OF MINE WHO MESSAGED ME AFTER THE AIRPORT SCENE IN 715 SAYING THAT TWINCER SOUNDED BRITISH. HOW DID YOU GET THAT PART TOO!? “Are you going someplace?” sounded very British, I agree, but I never picked it until I was told to listen for it. Genius.

- We even got it right as to who Wren was shooting: Twincer, so that she can look like Spencer. Gosh, is there anything we didn’t predict?

- Bethany who? Eddie who? Seriously though, I’m going to spend hours editing my unanswered questions list. We got a lot. You can say whatever you want about the finale, but you can’t say we didn’t get answers. Like, c’mon. If you’re saying we didn’t get answers, you’re the type of person who complains over nothing and is just impossible to please. Every word that came out of Alex’s mouth was golden. We had rapid fire Q&A with Alex and Spencer. I’m not saying this finale answered 7 years worth of questions; I’ll probably find some unanswered things once I start going through my list. But… You. Can. Not. Say. We. Got. Zero. Answers. I hope that when I finish this post, I don’t see people spreading such stupid negativity.

- Wren died? How? Why? That was unnecessary. This finale really lacked a major death. I wanted to say OMG to at least ONE thing, and unfortunately, I couldn’t. Not one thing shocked me.

- Am I the only one who thought Wren’s involvement seemed a bit forced?? What are the actual odds of Wren running into Alex at a bar in London? Seriously? But whatever. I’m so glad he played a role in this, and a damn big one too.

- So ALEX was the British person Mary was talking to on the phone in 701!!!

- I loved the scene between Alex and Charlotte!!

- I found it really really random that Alex started messaging Mona 1 year later. They had just moved on and all of a sudden Alex is back to start to reveal herself. Maybe I’m forgetting something because that was just weird.

- I was disappointed that there wasn’t a major reason Alex took Ezra. I was waiting for them to reveal a mind blowing alliance between the two but then it slowly became obvious that he had just been kidnapped and wasn’t on the friendly side with Alex.

- Melissa’s mask was just pointless. That was pure fan service to MelissA theorists. (And also to throw us off for a bit.) And I knew Melissa wasn’t AD since there’s no way they’d reveal Uber A so randomly at a picnic like that. I knew it was a mask.

- I got dollhouse vibes when Spencer (or Ezra?) said “we’re still underground”. I thought that was creepy!

- Seriously… they make reference to the mums getting out of the basement, without actually giving us an answer??? “Do you remember how we even got out of there?” said Veronica. It would’ve been better to leave that dialogue out completely. Teasing fans over something they’ll never get, is far worse than acting like it was just forgotten.

- Did Veronica know that Spencer has a twin, since she made a comment in 4B about not knowing who is coming down for breakfast; Spencer or her evil twin? They really made it out as if no one knew about Alex.

- Wren is the father of Emison’s baby!? That was so subtle, the way Alex said it. WHY!? That makes no sense. I’ve noticed that this show is really big on “who” but not so big on the “why”. I’m just going to assume that Wren was the only male she had “access” to, to pull off the stunt, so she used Wren simply out of convenience. That’s all I can think of.

- So Ezria got married, Haleb is having a baby, Emison is engaged with twins, and Spoby is??? I was really really shocked actually that one ship is still left up in the air. It’s not a sad ending, but it’s not happy either. Maybe that’s the one thing that doesn’t get answered that Marlene was talking about.

- That last scene with the recreation of ‘that night’ should NOT have been the last scene of the entire show. If Freeform wants to launch a spinoff, fine, go ahead, but how dare you cut to the end credits after that scene. Call me fussy, but I call it passion. The final scene of the show should have been Mary and Alex stuck in Mona’s dollhouse. Cut to the credits after that closeup on Alex (Which, was brilliant by the way, and aligns with Janel’s comment of Mona having her own unique happy ending.)

- The wrap party was boring. Just saying. It should’ve been the 6 liars (yes Mona too) with Marlene, sitting in Spencer’s barn, talking about the making of the finale, any questions that couldn’t get wrapped up, favourite episodes, etc. I finished the finale and thought “it’s okay, I still have one more chance to farewell the show since the last scene didn’t do it for me!” and nope, this third hour was no better.

- FULL CIRCLE HOW??? Can someone name one thing that happened, that can be classified as “full circle”??? In my mind, full circle means Alison dying and the girls having a sleepover in the barn!?

- Overall, this is how I summarise the finale:

It did not feel like a finale. The first half was boring, even for a series finale. The goodbyes were not strong enough, and I did not feel like I properly said “thank you” and “farewell” to my favourite fictional characters ever. The scene with the girls at the end was far too short. The AD reveal was very predictable for me and other dedicated detectives, but I think other fans across the world will be pleased since it wasn’t actually that obvious. The motive was great. Troian slayed. But, coming from a person who also has a non-rhotic accent (Australian), I felt put off by Alex’s accent. The final scene was just stupid, I’m not watching a spinoff - the final scene should’ve been Mary and Alex. We got a shit ton of answers, but, as I’ll soon see when I go to my list, I don’t feel like it was everything. But absolutely, most things, yes.

In 3 words: slow, predictable, fun.

Here’s my theory where I correctly solved Alex Drake

8. “Why are you so jealous?”
14. “Just please be my best friend right now, not the guy I just confessed my love to.

It was a brisk Gotham evening as you made the trek to your best friend’s apartment. That best friend being Jason Todd, son of the Bat himself. Even though Jason would never openly admit it. You two had been best friends since before he died at the hands of the Joker, since before he met Bruce! You were street kids together, always had the other’s back. But when he came back, it felt like you two picked up right where you left off. It was the dose of normal and stability he needed after something as drastic as what he’d gone through. The man died for goodness sake.

It’s been a couple years since he returned and everything seemed to be more stable in his life. He was on good terms with his family again, you two still were the best of friends, he was even thinking about getting a dog! But that’s beside the point. The only thing missing really was a relationship, and you wished you could fit that bill. His family rooted for you, everyone wanted Jason and you to get together. But, you were too nervous to tell him and risk your friendship.

So, you settled for your movie nights and bar nights the both of you shared. Knocking on his apartment door you waited patiently. However, no sign of life came from the apartment. Had Jason forgotten your movie night? It wouldn’t be the first time he went out on patrol or a big mission early without realizing you two had plans.

Figuring that the case you sighed before heading back out of the building. Night had fallen over the city, thinking it best you called for a cab while sitting on the stairs to Jason’s apartment building. Sighing your chin rested in your palm, watching cars speed down the street in front of you. That was until you heard a girl’s higher pitched laughter and a man’s low chuckle. However, you recognized that chuckle. Standing to see Jason walking toward the building with a girl with bright blonde hair hanging on his arm in a tiny dress.

You had to admit the woman was gorgeous, making you even more aware of the fact you wore a baggy sweatshirt and simple sweat pants. Jason looked up to see you there, “[F/n]? What are you doing here?”

You stared between them, feeling jealousy bubble in your chest. “Movie night. Which you obviously forgot.” A bit of sharpness in your tone. Jason rose an eyebrow at you, not used to such an aggressive presence from you. He asked his date to head inside and that he’d meet her at her door. Meaning she lived there too.

“Why are you so jealous?” He questioned, obviously confused. “I’m not jealous” You spat at him. Jason crossed his arms unconvinced, “Is it because I forgot movie night? I’m sorry, it just completely slipped my mind and this was the only night me and her could –” Rattling off his excuse before you cut him off. “IT’S NOT ABOUT THE MOVIE JASON!” Yelling at him, feeling even more jealousy and anger bubble in your heart.

“I don’t understand.”

“Of course you don’t” Scoffing as he took a step toward you. “[F/n] what is it I’m not understanding?”

Was he really this oblivious? This out of tune with your emotions? Sick and tired of holding in your feelings, they all just spilled out like a can of paint on the pavement.

“THAT I LOVE YOU DAMMIT! That I love and have loved you since before the pit! Since before Bruce! Fuck, I don’t know how you never noticed!” Yelling at him. All the anger in your chest turning to sadness as he didn’t respond but just stared at you. “I love you Jason.” Shrugging as tears stung your eyes.

Right then the cab pulled up, you looked at it then Jason who didn’t look at you. Just stared at the pavement. Sniffling you wiped your eyes before walking to the cab and opening the door. “Bye Jason” mumbling before climbing in and shutting the door behind you.

After that night you avidly avoided Jason and his family. He tried calling you and texting you but you never had the heart to answer. It hurt like hell to know he didn’t love you back, now you lost your best friend too.

Sitting on your sofa in your run down but cozy apartment. You tapped your finger in your mug thinking. About what happened with him, along with how this was your last sick day usable before you had to return to work. Sighing you took a deep breath, but caught a whiff of something in the air. It smelled like… smoke?

Shooting up from your couch you ran to the door. Pulling it open and looking around the hall. You didn’t see any fire but smoke was bellowing up from the service stairs. People were in the same state as you, currently freaking out because of the sheer amount of smoke and that their was a fire on lower levels. Of course your shit apartment building’s smoke detectors didn’t work.

Hacking and coughing you looked around. Remembering that there were a second set of stairs. Hurriedly you got everyone’s attention and rushed them in the direction. You and another man got all kids and women down into the less smoke filled staircase before the smoke and fire got there. Though the fire had grown to your level and was eating the building like it was nothing. You had just began to hear sirens. Everyone was down before another woman rushed back up to where you and the man stood. “M-my son! He was home alone and I just got back! I can’t find him.”

Your instincts kicked in and the small amount of training Bruce and Jason taught you took over. “What apartment?!” You questioned quickly. “6C, please, please help me!” Looking at the man, “Get her outside!” Ordering before running back into the smoke. “HEY WAIT!” Hearing the deep voice of them man yell before you reached to where the fire had spread.

Pulling your shirt up over your face you ran through the hallway, avoiding flames. Finding the apartment you banged on the door. “HEY! IS ANYONE IN THERE!” Screaming before hacking from the smoke.

“help please!” Hearing a quiet voice on the other side. Throwing your shoulder against the door a few times it but open with the third. Looking around you saw a boy no older than 9 huddled under a table as beams fell around him. Running over you tried to crawl up to him but a beam blocked your way. “Come on buddy, I need you to be strong and come with me” saying before you coughed again. He timidly looked at you, another smouldering piece of wood falling beside him. “I CAN’T” He yelled scared and hid further. “You can do it come on sweetie. I know you can, you’re strong. I’m friends with the Red Hood and I can tell you’re just as strong as him. You can do it.” Encouraging him further. “Really?” He asked.

Nodding at him, he began to crawl to you. “That’s it come on” Beckoning him, he was only a foot away when you heard something snap. Looking up, dry wall came crumbling down. On instinct you launched yourself forward, covering the boy with your body as the smouldering dry wall hit your back. Knocking the wind out of you.

He looked at you concerned but with a burst of adrenaline you shook off the drywall and picked him up. Zipping off your jacket you covered him up with it as you ran out of the apartment and toward the staircase. You maneuvered around debris, and inhaled far too much smoke but you pushed your legs as hard as you could.

Down the stairs you ran to and out the front doors, the burst of cool hair filling your lungs hurt and you hacked and coughed, falling to your knees on the pavement. Clutching the boy to your chest as he coughed too. Paramedics rushed over to you, taking the boy and examining you.

Due to sheer exhaustion you couldn’t get up. Everything felt numb and you just wanted to go to sleep. The paramedics kept yelling at you to stay awake but it was too hard, the last thing you heard was a familiar voice yelling to you.

“Jason?” Mumbling before you lost it all.

You woke up to the sound of beeping and felt something around your face. Your throat and lungs felt like they were on fire as you took a deep breath. Wincing at the pain breathing caused. Your back ached and you could feel the bandages wrapped around you. Opening your eyes, the room was empty, it being completely white except for a few vases of flowers on the window sill. ‘Who would send me flowers? I don’t have any family.’ Thinking before hearing the door open.

Eyes shooting there you saw a familiar mess of black hair and blue eyes staring at you. “You’re awake!” Jason smiled at you before rushing over. “Oh thank god! How do you feel?” He sat down beside you.

You just shook your head, trying to speak but it only came out as a rough noise. Jason poured some water and handed it to you, the cool sensation of it running down your throat feeling amazing. “I-I feel like I swallowed hot coals and got hit in the back by Harley’s baseball bat” Your voice sounding gruff and broken. Though you didn’t look at Jason.

Everything came rushing back to you when you saw him. That night but also the fire. “It’s all gone… Everything.” You whispered to yourself. Jason’s expression softened, “[F/n] I..” He tried to speak but you stopped him. “Just please be my best friend right now, not the guy I just confessed my love to.“ He blinked at you before smiling and taking your hand. “Why can’t I be both?”

You stared at him shocked, waiting for him to elaborate. “I know I’m an idiot. I don’t know why I went out with that girl. I knew from the beginning she wasn’t for me but I did it anyway. And I don’t know why because I’ve known I’ve loved you since we were kids. I thought you didn’t feel that way about me and I now see how wrong I was. I did it to try and hide my feelings for you, but when you confessed I was shocked and you were gone before I could tell you how I felt. Then you wouldn’t answer my calls and I go to your apartment to see smoke bellowing it from it and news that you ran back inside. I was terrified I’d never get to tell you or see you again.” He explained and caressed your hand with his thumb.

“You love me?” Voice still being a rough whisper. Nodding he smiled at you. “I do.”

Tugging on his hand you pulled him to hug you. Tears welling in your eyes. “I want you to move in with me. I don’t want you in some shabby apartment like that again. I want you where I can keep you safe and from running into burning buildings” He whispered. Your hands gripped his jacket tighter before you nodded, “Thank you.”

“Anything for the one I love.”

I kinda want to do a part two where the reader gets offered a job as a firefighter and she accepts the job and goes to training and Jason is a worried mess. Thoughts?

20 years. Though he hadn’t always been aware he’d been waiting, and though sometimes he’d felt he was waiting for someone else, all this time he’d been waiting for this moment right here.

The bedroom is silent, the sounds outside muted by the dawn breaking over the horizon; the only light in the room is the fractured rays of golden and rosy, blushing light slipping through the thin panes of glass lining the wall, and Newt lies awake, a strange, floating feeling filling his chest. He wonders for a moment if he’s dreaming, if it’s truly possible that he’s here, next to your mumbling figure, but there’s no mistaking your beauty nor the way you mutter his name, twisting the sheets further as you roll onto your side, still too caught in the hazy fog of sleep to fully wake.

Streaks of the light cast shadows that dance over your face as your chest rises and falls gently like the waves of the ocean you’d married near. Newt had spent so long trying to be sure he’d chosen the right spot, and all you’d had to do was squeeze his hand and smile to quell his fears. Oh, how beautiful you’d looked that day, grinning ear-to-ear and swaying when the band began your favorite song.

Beautiful, but nothing compared to how you look now, wrapped up only inches away from Newt, mouth parted the slightest as soft breaths escape your lips.

A smile edges onto Newt’s lips as you steal his breath away with the utter peace in your expression.

He tentatively reaches forward, fingers grazing along your cheek carefully, just to be sure you’re here, you’re real. When you shift, blinking and smiling sleepily at him before you’re even fully awake, Newt’s stomach flutters up again. It’s a ridiculous feeling, he knows, but Merlin help him. If the feeling never leaves, if he can’t help the full grin slipping onto his face every time you smile at him like that, he’ll be more blessed than he ever imagined possible.

“Morning,” you mumble, your voice thick with sleep.

“Sleep well?”

“Not long enough.”

Newt chuckles, his voice a low sound that spills through the quiet peace of the bedroom. “You can sleep more if you’d like. We’ve nothing to do today.”

You pop one eye open, squinting at Newt. “Nothing?”

He reaches forward, dragging his fingers up your arm. “Nothing.”
