final ninja of the month

It’s done! blog art for my FD RP blog @eternityslegacy or some kind. Idk, I just wanted to try out a new technique tbh

This was very fun to do tho!! I mean I did copas a lot of stuff from Layth to Azel and vice versa, but these two are both very fun to experiment with, especially with their contrasting colors/hues lol

i guess i’ll have to learn to be delicate (with your heart)

Fluff Friday: November 18 “Big & Little”

Not particularly shippy. Featuring: Sakura and Kakashi, with guest appearances by Naruto, Sai, Yamato, Tsunade and Shizune. Would nod vaguely at canon if they were to pass in the street.

This is de-aged fic. Neither Sakura nor chibi!Kakashi are particularly thrilled, but Naruto thinks it’s hilarious.

Sakura’s just coming up on the end of a long, long hospital shift when she hears the commotion in the lobby. She pauses, letting her attention stray from the medical chart she’s updating to trying to decipher the noise two floors down, but the distance muffles everything to only the dull rise and flow of voices. She cocks her head, listening to no avail.

“Haruno-sensei?” the chūnin perched on the bed dares prompt.

She frowns and shakes her head, turning back to her patient. If she’s needed, Shizune will send one of the nurses to fetch her. Until then, she has work to finish.

Is the Titanium Ninja still Zane, or are we looking at a copy?

In form of a quick & easy cover-everything debate.

Government: Same Zane, with the motion: The Titanium Ninja is the Zane we all know and love.

Opposition: Zane is a replica, with the motion: The White Ninja is probably dead, and theTitanium Ninja is a copy of him.

Click here for the full dialogue of this “I am just a replica” scene.

Begin the debate!

1.  Same Zane: His elemental powers? A mere copy can’t have them.

Zane is a replica: He inherited them from the original Zane, you idiot.

Same Zane:Whoa, so aside from Zane and possibly Pixal being the parents of the wholenindroid army, there’s also Pixal flirting with her lover’s/own son?

Zane is a replica: You appall me. They’re robots.

2. Zane is a replica: He doesn’t have memories of the white ninja’s life because they don’t belong to him.

Same Zane: He’s been rebuilt. Sometimes fixing devices require a factory reset. More likely his memory was corrupted after his body’s destruction.

3. Same Zane: Pixal, the girl who helped Zane in the creation of his new body, doesn’t show any sign that she’s in love with a copy of her lover.

Zane is a replica: She’s a robot. Her previous models - the older P.I.X.A.L.s - got scrapped, so she’s used to it. Loving a person who’s just a replica of the real deal would be totally normal for her.

4. Same Zane: Pixal reassured him he is Zane.

Zane is a replica: Argument similar to point above. Get your computer, transfer or copy most of its memory to another computer of the exact or newer model. Same data, programs, operating system, everything - it’s practically your old computer. As a robot, he is expendable; clone-able. Pixal didn’t contradict this.

Same Zane: Nor did she suggest it.

5. Zane is a replica

“He’s…different. But aren’t we all?”

Even Nya sees the obvious.

Same Zane: Seriously? You think that automatically means “he’s a different person”? If so, then her “aren’t we all” means “we’re all clones of our past selves”. She just meant he had a different body, he changed and his memories are scrambled.

Zane is a replica: She just said “aren’t we all” to lighten up her words.

Same Zane: You lost me there. She meant what she meant. Nya wouldn’t be hugging him if she thought she was hugging a copy.

Zane is a replica: As one of the most techno-savvy character in the series, she’d be exposed to the concept of clones and robot copies, and she’d be more accepting of a different Zane.

Same Zane: Oh, really? You’re making things up.

6. Zane is a replica: The original Zane did not have titanium power.

Same Zane: He did and still does, noob. That’s the power your so-called past Zane unlocked right before his battle against the Overlord that killed them both.

7. Audience member: POI! The Zane-is-scared-of-non-existent-dragon scene! His fear of being an intruder to past Zane’s life and acceptance for who he is.

Adjudicator: Its symbolism is too flexible to be considered evidence; easy to interpret in different ways. I don’t even know which side you’re on.

Audience member: Team Titanium Replica.

Adjudicator: Right…

8. Same Zane: How easy do you think it would be for the ghost-Zane from the last seen of Episode 34 to use another mechanical body? Look at how the Overlord made himself a virus! If it’s that easy, Zane wouldn’t make a replication of himself.

Zane is a replica: You don’t even know if the virus is the Overlord, or if the Overlord isn’t the physical personification of evil. Rules differ with each person and situation.

9. Same Zane: Ninjago wouldn’t do that. It’s still a kids’ show.

Zane is a replica: And they killed another great good character at the latest season’s final, and Pythor is a genocidal cannibal. Even if it’s a lighter death than Zane’s, the writers seem so eager to put dark overtones and grittier implications. They would’ve made Zane's permanent death more obvious if it wouldn’t raise its parental guidance rating higher. +1 Zane is a replica

10. Same Zane: Wait, they go all the way to Zane, facing potential death or worse, only for them to rescue a copy? That sucks.

Zane is a replica: Had Zane-replica not been imprisoned on the island, the ninja wouldn’t stop Chen (at least while it was easy to stop him), and the whole nation of Ninjago will turn to ruins. Chen will rule if the Titanium Ninja wasn’t in Chen’s island.

Same Zane: It could be the same Zane and it’ll still make sense.

11. Same Zane: Come on, this whole debate happened because of one quote! Look at the whole thing! It’s just one scene and you’re stretching the truth! Why do you not consider that he said that because he’s scared, insecure and troubled?

Zane is a replicaIf Ninjago weren’t watched by kids, the writers would’ve been eager to make the fact the old Zane is dead more obvious. And you gotta admit, his “I’m just a replica” does hit you hard and make you wonder if I’m right.

Adjudicator: Sorry, I have to agree with Same Zane’s point. +1 Same Zane

Same Zane: Even if you think the writers meant the Titanium Ninja to be a duplicate, they still aren’t the only ones running the show. Your stand is a writer’s headcanon, not canon.

Zane is a replica: Most people accept the writers’ non-written ideas as canon, because they made the story.

Same Zane: Multiple writers. Maybe they, too, couldn’t agree among themselves on whether the new Zane is the old Zane. If they did agree, they might’ve wanted to make the whole not-the-same-Zane more obvious

Zane is a replica: I thought it’s only the Hageman brothers writing it.

Same Zane: If you’re right, then I quote Dan:

I mean, it’s difficult to write with your brother, but we’ve met people who are married and write together. It’s so subjective. One of you will be writing some beautiful moment…”and here’s where he’ll take the flower, and reflect on his life…” and the other one is like “HE HAS TO LEAVE THE FLOWER! IF HE TAKES THE FLOWER IT RUINS EVERYTHING!”

Zane is a replica: Only two writers. I think. They probably agreed on this.

Before the final judgement, I have to say:
(FOR FOUR WEEKS I’VE BEEN THINKING ABOUT THIS DEBATE!! I had near-sleepless nights BECAUSE THE UNSURITY OF WHETHER ZANE IS DEAD OR NOT HAUNTED ME FOR A MONTH *gets out of the room for a glass of water* It’s just a cartoon it’s just a show sheesh when will Ninjago come back Firefly is cancelled THIS DEBATE IS A CULMINATION OF ONE MONTH’S WORRIES, HOW MANY HOURS please reblog this post it means a lot to me - *comes back in heavy strides, slams butt on computer chair*)

The worst part about finally finishing this post is I realized that the whole debate is entirely useless. There is no real solid evidence except for one line: “I’m just…a replica.” Everything else is just hints and guesses and nitpicking.

But if Zane is truly gone, at least Ninjago has ghosts of a sort - his electric mobile conscience was talking to Pixal in the last scene of Season 3. If Zane be dead, his AI consciousness - what may be his soul - will not seize to exist. Or perhaps that was a back-up of his AI. That’s debatable…

The Titanium Ninja is the White Ninja, and Zane is still the old Zane we all know and love.

Despite your well-thought arguments, neither side has sufficient evidence for either of you to convince me. They’re more of what-ifs and can-be rather than solid, concrete proof. Both only have one convincing argument each:

1.       Same-Zane: It’s one scene that can be interpreted in two ways.

2.       Zane is a copy: The writers can do it, kids’ show or not.

However, it seems more like that Zane is Zane because it’s the more sane answer, and Same Zane’s only point is more solid than the second’s it-can-be point. A controversial argument would need to work a little harder to be convincing, like the existence of aliens.

But it’s still up to youdear reader, to decide whether the Titanium Ninja is truly the same Zane, or a lost, confused copy taking his place.
