film: ookami kodomo no ame to yuki

Mamoru Hasoda’s The Boy And The Beast, Oscar Submission

The Boy And The Beast (Bakemono no ko) is the latest film from Mamoru Hasoda. Hasoda has grown quite the following from his other works, The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, Summer Wars and Wolf Children (Ookami kodomo no Ame to Yuki). Now his latest masterwork, The Boy And The Beast is an Oscar submission for the animated feature. The film premiered in Japan, July of this year, and will release in select theaters worldwide early 2016 (x).

Personally, I loved The Girl Who Leapt Through Time and Summer Wars, but I was very disappointed with Wolf Children. My hope is that The Boy And The Beast will be more like Hasoda’s earlier films which were exciting and triumphant. Either way, I’m excited for more unique and colorful 2D animation from one of the masters.

The Boy And The Beast is one of several films up for the Animated Feature category at the 88th Academy Awards early next year. See the full list and learn about the curious circumstances surrounding the upcoming Oscars here.

The first three pictures is HOW THE STORY WOULD BE if Ookami-san not die. Oh what a wonderful pic they are, what a wonderful story :“

but the died of ookami-san is what makes the plot interesting. That’s the point !

How Yuki desperately apologize to Hana, her mom, somehow made me cried. Yuki, the strongest, the happiest child-wolf, actually is a human too. Human that would regret it’s fault.

Hana. The STRONGEST MOM. even Ghibli’s woman can’t be compared with her. Even Mononoke, or Nausicaa. Well, the truth is, those women being strong with their ownstyle. Hana, is the srongest women that using the most humanly style. So that’s why i said that.

Actually, now i’m doing a Film research assignment ( Group assignment,to be precise) and we use "Wolf children / ookami no kodomo ame to yuki ) as our main research. Our question is ” What symbolize of Wolf means here?“

Well. As long as it’s my lovely thing, i’ll do it happily ~
