Jeet Kune Do in Portland is proud to be apart of the legacy…

Guro Dan Inosanto, the protege and inheritor of the JKD system from his mentor Bruce Lee has gone on to become a legend. Inosanto took to heart the lessons of one of his most influential friends and teachers. He didn’t stop there, as Jeet Kune Do was designed to be a form of expression, to enhance the self and steer one’s training in the right direction. It’s very personal, and a philosophy that has governed the rest of Inosanto’s training during the last 60 plus years.

Yes, you read that right. Dan Inosanto has been training in the martial arts with fervor since the 1950′s. You bet it’s as incredible as it sounds, and now known as a living legend he’s shown here at 79 years old helping to coach Anderson Silva in the art of JKD and Wing Chun at the Inosanto Academy.

In Oregon we are privileged to have access to Guro Dan’s complete curriculum by one of his long term students. It’s a complete package of Kali and Jeet Kune Do, often times referred to as the Inosanto blend, students learn how to protect themselves with and without weapons, in striking and grappling situations, and close quarter environments. The curriculum is more thorough than what Bruce Lee was doing in the 1960′s, but that’s in part to a testament of Dan Inosanto’s desire to continue to train and sculpt the art. You can be sure if Bruce Lee was alive he would have continued to evolve. The founder of Jeet Kune Do, Lee was always exploring, researching, and integrating things into his methods. Truly an early form of cross training before the term was coined.

In our Jeet Kune Do classes in the Portland/Tigard area our program includes Kali, Jeet Kune Do, Wing Chun, Western Boxing, Jun Fan Kickboxing, Patukan, and Silat. We feel that the Inosanto blend is the most qualified flavor of JKD out there. It’s no wonder then that world champions seek out Guro Inosanto for his wealth of knowledge and experience. A legacy that River City Warriors is tremendously proud to be a part of, if you’d like to join our community or stop by for a free class you’re always welcome. Come and explore one of the few legitimate JKD programs out there.
