Sabastian Stan To Play Jeff Gillooly In ‘I, Tonya’
By Patrick Hipes

EXCLUSIVE:  Sebastian Stan is going from Winter Soldier to another icy role. The Marvel Universe regular who will reprise in Avengers: Infinity War has been cast as Tonya Harding’s husband Jeff Gillooly in I, Tonya, the edgy comedy film being directed by Craig Gillespie that stars Margot Robbie as Harding. The project, penned by Steven Rogers, will expose the absurd, tragic and hilarious story-behind-the-story of one of sports’ most infamous scandals.

The project, is ramping up now after Miramax secured U.S. distribution rights yesterday to the film about former U.S. figure-skating champ Harding, who fell into disgrace after she and Gillooly plotted to attack rival Nancy Kerrigan right before the 1994 U.S. Championships in Detroit. Production gets underway in January.

Gillooly became a public figure in the subsequent investigation and trial, at which it was revealed he and Harding’s bodyguard Shawn Eckhardt hired Shane Stant to break Kerrigan’s leg so she couldn’t compete in the upcoming Winter Olympics in Lillehammer. Harding was eventually banned for life from the sport after both she and Gillooly reached plea deals; Gillooly was sentenced to two years in prison for racketeering, with the judge determining he was the “driving force” in the plot.

Kerrigan had to withdraw from the U.S. championships after the attack but she and Harding made the Olympic team. Their every move was caught on camera during the Lillehammer Games; Kerrigan won silver and Harding finished eighth.

Clubhouse Pictures’ Bryan Unkeless, LuckyChap’s Robbie and Tom Ackerly, and Rogers are producing the pic, while AI’s Len Blavatnik and Aviv Giladi are exec producers. Rosanne Korenberg is overseeing the film for Miramax, and Sierra/Affinity is selling offshore.

Stan recently shot Stephen Soderberg’s NASCAR-set heist pic Logan Lucky, We Have Always Lived In A Castle opposite Alexandra Daddario, and I’m Not There. He reprises as Winter Soldier, aka Bucky Barnes, in Avengers: Infinity War which comes out in May 2018.

He is repped by ICM Partners, Brookside Artists Management and Sloane, Offer.

Javier Fernandez win Figure Skating EU Champ

Fernandez became only the third man to join the ‘famous five’ (5 titles) club at the European championships. Austria’s Karl Schaefer achieved the feat in the 1930s while Czechoslovakia’s Ondrej Nepela won the last of his five titles in 1973.

Despite crashing heavily on his right hip following a quadruple Salchow and putting a hand down on his loop, the two-times world champion still blew away the opposition in Ostrava to win the title with a combined total of 294.84 points.

That total allowed the 25-year-old Spaniard, who had carried a lead of almost 10 points into the free skate, to beat his nearest rival, Russia’s Maxim Kovtun, by a whopping 28.04 points.

Fellow Russian Mikhail Kolyada claimed the bronze with 250.18.

  1. Javier Fernandez 294.84
  2. Maxim Kovtun 266.80
  3. Mikhail Kolyada 250.18
  4. Jorik Hendrickx 242.56
  5. Alexei Bychenko 239.24

The Land of Misfit Bros

Can we all just take a second to fully appreciate the beauty that is the Samwell Men’s Hockey Team?
Like, we all know darling Bitty was a fish out of water joining this university hockey team, being the closeted, pie-baking, southern, former figure skating champ that we all adore… But can you imagine any of the other Samwell “bros” thriving like they have here on any other teams?
First off, arguably the biggest “bro” of the SMH team is a tiny female art student
Can you imagine SHITTY fitting in on a “normal” team?
Jack is a mess of anxiety who (going by snippets of twitter quotes) probably would have had a hell of a time his first year without Shitty on what seems like it was a more typical “bro”-y team. This team gets that he’s going to be an irritable disaster during preseason and just let’s him be him.
Ransom and Holster seem a little more “normal” but can you even imagine one without the other? Especially Ransom, since Holster seems to be the only person who understands how to handle him during his exam prep breakdowns. (And who else would let him crawl into his bed in the middle of the night because he’s afraid of ghosts lol)
Sweet Baby Chowder. The whole freaking team looks out for him.
Honestly, speaking of looking out for teammates, take a look at how the existing team has Bitty’s back. He comes out for the first time in his entire life to Shitty who is actually a little insulted that Bitty was worried about his reaction in the first place. Ransom and Holster find out and without missing a beat start excitedly looking for a male winter screw date for him instead. Jack has his dickish hockey robot moments in the first year, but think about this: he notices Bitty’s fear of being hit and personally makes it his mission to help him get past it. Why? Because if anyone understands what it feels like to be paralyzed by the fear of something, it’s Jack.
Also, where else could this group of 18-25 year old boys/men get into heated discussions as varied as gender roles, “heteronormative bullcrap”, Harry Potter houses, while intermittently belting out Beyoncé (Bitty) or Katy Perry (Holster).
I touched on it a bit earlier with “pre-season Jack” but basically all these guys are quirky as hell and despite the chirps, they have each other’s backs. Nobody treats anyone “differently” they just accept everyone as they are and support each other in whichever way they can and it is fucking beautiful.
There is so much more I could add to this, but it’s long and rambling enough as it is.
I just have a lot of feelings lol
