Darla: Harvesting figs with my grandmother. She used to set up a ladder and I would climb up it, trying to get the best figs which were always at the top of the tree. The tastiest ones had skin the color of midnight, a deep purple-blue. I was a terrible assistant though, as I ate more than I harvested.
James: Waiting for hours to be picked up after school. I would sit on the ground and fold paper into stars and flowers and cranes. Campus security often stared at me in amusement. I left my creations for them as gifts once my ride arrived.
