FUNKINEVEN & FATIMA - PHONE LINE

Last Friday’s guest FunkinEven has just dropped the video for his latest track with Fatima - this shit is sexy.

Swedish-born, London-based vocalist Fatima has returned from working in the studio with UK tunesmith FunkinEven with “Phone Line,” a hissing roller for Floating Points’ and Alexander Nut’s Eglo label. A brightly colored video for the new single was released today, which outfits the blurry beat with shots of Fatima and others singing into phones that look like shiny, colorful hard candy. The clip is more entertaining than it sounds, actually, especially because FunkinEven’s upbeat production keeps the mood light and easygoing. “Phoneline” is out now as a digital single and vinyl release.

RESIDENTS: MY NU LENG

My Nu Leng are a Bristol & London-based duo who have quietly been building up a lot of support over the last half a year or so. My Nu Leng first came to prominence with the lurching ‘Fireflies’ as a standout track on their debut ‘Fireflies EP’ on MindStep Music in 2011, and since then have been impossible to pin down as they continually bring something fresh to the table with their beats. Switching with ease between a range of styles around the 130bpm mark, and with crisp production to boot, it’s hard to pigeon hole a particular genre in which they fit.

With a busy calendar of bookings in the pipeline & a weekly show on Rood FM; the latest single release of ‘Time Goes By’ (featuring J-One) on MindStep Music; and the latest release, ‘Damp’ on LNUK; it seems that My Nu Leng have built themselves a solid platform from which to take on the future.

KARMA KID COMES TO 51 THIS FRIDAY

In 2011, Karma Kids versatile sound brought him to the attention of BBC introducing and Filth FM, as well as prominent figures in the scene including Teknian, Whistla and Troy Gunner. His remix of Bon Iver’s ‘Towers’ made it into over 20 blogs online including, the Indie collection, Tunetap, Big green beats and The Jackplug.
