Welcome to #FemFriday! Depicted above is one of our founding feminist forepeople, Mary Hunter Austin (September 9, 1868-August 13, 1934). Austin is best known for her lyrical tribute to Californian deserts entitled ‘Land of Little Rain’. In her writing, it is readily apparent that in nature, Austin sought that which was not domesticated and did not domesticate women. She was an early proponent of women’s suffrage and birth control and all-around badass! Austin did not lead a typical life for a woman of her time. Her essays, poems, plays, and books stand as an inspiration for today’s feminists. Read her work, y'all! #FemFriday #MensRightsClub #mrc4ever #MaryHunterAustin
