Founded in New York as a transmedia meetup, StoryCode has evolved into an open-source, global community for emerging and established cross-platform and immersive storytellers.

StoryCode DC aims to nurture a community of emerging and established storytellers who are exploring the ever-growing possibilities of narrative and who are interested in telling stories in new, immersive or nontraditional ways, including through the use of technology and new media tools.

In addition to celebrating the launch of StoryCode DC, the first US-based chapter of StoryCode, emerging and established storytellers and media makers will showcase projects that stand at the intersection of storytelling, technology, media and social impact.

StoryCode DC is Co-Organized by Felicia Pride and Kelli M. Anderson.

Gift #10: The holiday season has a way of bringing out a latent nostalgia in all of us. Why not embrace it and take in Melvin Van Peebles’ cult classic Sweet Sweetback’s Badasssss Song and be reminded of the epic-ness that was the blaxploitation movement of the 1970s. #12DaysToCreate: http://goo.gl/eiKxDs

Gift #8: Founded by DJ Beverly Bond as a non-profit youth empowerment and mentoring organization established to promote the arts for young women of color, as well as to encourage an analysis of the ways women of color are portrayed in the media, Black Girls Rock!  has quickly become an entire movement. Show your support by donning some BGR! apparel for the holiday season. #12DaysToCreatehttp://goo.gl/d8uCFK

Our ongoing mission at To Create is to highlight the work and artistic journey of black storytellers and media makers. In the spirit of that purpose, for this Holiday Season we’ve kicked off our 12 Days To Create Holiday Gift Guide. For the next 12 days we’ll be be highlighting daily the works of creatives featured in To Create encouraging you to gift them for yourself or someone else.
