If you search for which tennis player has won the most grand slams, google will tell you that it’s Roger Federer, with 19 titles.
This is INACCURATE.
This recognition belongs to Margaret Court, who has won TWENTY FOUR grand slam titles.
Now, she is known for her massively homophobic views, that she has expressed openly many times (she’s actually boycotting this year’s Australian Open in protest of Australia legalizing gay marriage). So maybe, you might say, you’d rather not afford her the recognition.
In that case it belongs to Serena Williams, WHO HAS WON TWENTY THREE TITLES.
AND AFTER HER IS STEFFI GRAF, WITH TWENTY TWO.
This honor does not belong to a man with 19, and yet Google assumes that the most grand slams won by anyone has to be a man.
Please help correct this misinformation and help get some strong women in tennis the recognition they deserve!
Roger Federer defeats Rafael Nadal 6-4 6-3 to claim his 2nd Shanghai Rolex Masters title, 6th title of 2017, 27th Masters 1000 title, and 94th career title. At 94 titles, he equal Ivan Lendl for 2nd most career titles in the Open Era. This marks his 5th consecutive match victory against Nadal for the first time in his career. Today he also records 350 Masters 1000 match wins and 700 hard court match wins. Congratulations, Roger.
