Elevator B @ Hive City

Elevator B is a collaborative project between graduate students from the University at Buffalo’s School of Architecture and Planning (B a/p) and Rigidized Metals, a Buffalo based building material manufacturer. The overall goal of the project was to successfully design for the relocation and habitation of a colony of honeybees occupying a building at Silo City, a dense cluster of grain elevators in Buffalo, NY.

Stages of Decay Julia Solis

This unnervingly poetic collection of photographs by Julia Solis depicts the fading glamour of an entire range of international theaters, ranging from the remnants of ornate movie palaces to shabby vaudeville houses. Using abandoned spaces as both subject and canvas, Solis details the theaters’ stages and decorative elements as well as the eerie toll that age and entropy have taken on the formerly elegant surfaces.
