Be More Chill - au
Pairings: Michael Mell/Jeremy Heere. Tags: Homophobia (Slight)
Concept: Michael is the one who takes the squip. Instead of Jeremy, Michael is the main focus (don’t worry he’s still our favourite gay stoner kid). His brother is shown a bit throughout and how the defective squip affected his brother’s mental health and made him delusional. Michaels aware of this, fully aware, but he still yearns to no longer be known as “antisocial headphones kid” and “stoner boy”. He tries his best to divert his attention from the squip, which works, until he is offered one for little price.
In the heat of the moment he forgets all the dangers the squip comes with and how it affected his brother and accepts, handing the price over. Progressively, he becomes more cooler and popular and soon enough lets go of all feelings he has towards Jeremy (The squip telling him these feelings for another male aren’t right and wont make him cool, despite Rich breaking through that with his Best Bi Boy stance). Jeremy notices the change, the loss in glasses, makeup covering any spots, etc and questions Michael - “It worked didn’t it?”
Michael doesn’t get the upgrade (at first) so Jeremy is left wary of Michael and his mental health. Michael’s past isn’t so mysterious to Jeremy and J knows about Michael’s brother which is why he is so wary and refuses to take a squip himself. Michael, being antisocial already, is affected by the squip and his mental health starts spiralling downhill. The defective squip says its because he’s needy, worthless, attached to that single loser Jeremy - this is where Michael takes an upgrade.
How it ends is up to you.
