Favourite female characters: Angela Montenegro

Where do I begin with this saint of a character? I feel like she’s often overlooked on Bones because, let’s be real, that show is packed with amazing people, but Angela has always been my favourite.

Angela is so so patient, perhaps more so than any one character I can think of. Between Brennan’s difficulties reading people in the early seasons, the rambunctious squints and her on-again, off-again relationship with Hodgins, Angela spends a lot of her time nodding sympathetically and sighing. But never once does she seem to be annoyed, and never does she make other people feel like they’re a burden to her.

She’s not your typical genius, but she’s incredibly gifted with computers and uses her artistic talents for a very noble cause. Her deeply empathetic tendencies made her so relatable because of how the cases used to get to her sometimes, but that has become a determination to find the answers and get justice for murder victims.

She’s also an incredibly fun, quirky and energetic person to have around, always seems like she’s down for a girl’s night out or some new adventure. She never lets anyone make decisions for her (be it her dad or Hodgins) and even though she’s had a lot of ‘finding herself’-type storylines over the years, she’s never failed to be there for her friends.

If I’m being perfectly honest, I think I picked up my habit of calling everyone ‘sweetie’ from her. She’s a very comforting presence, always has a listening ear and some advice ready, and looks like she gives the best hugs.

Favourite Female Characters: Penelope Garcia

Aside from being quirky, colourful and generally adorable, Penelope is one of the warmest, most welcoming presences in a show that gets pretty dark at times. She is incredibly smart and resourceful, always ready with a witty comeback, and often delivers a key piece of the puzzle - without her, the case doesn’t get solved.

In addition, she is a bit of a mother hen - always anxiously waiting for her family to come back to her, and so kind and loving to anyone who needs her. She’s never been afraid to hide her emotions, or to tell someone off when necessary.

She might seem soft and sweet on the outside, but she’s stronger than most, and definitely not one to mess with. (Unless you’re Derek Morgan, in which case… mess away)

anonymous asked:

In honour of International Women's Day, what are your top 5 (or 10, whichever you prefer) favourite female characters from television and books?

Yes! Love this.

1. Vin from The Final Empire by Brandon Sanderson. Ugh Vin is my queen.

2. Lila Bard from the Shades of Magic Series by V.E Schwab

3. Liezel Meminger from The Book Thief by Markus Zusak

4. Hermione Granger from The Harry Potter Series by J.K Rowling

5. Mim Malone from Mosquitoland by David Arnold

6. Helena and Cosima from Orphan Black

7. I adore all the female characters from Sense8. Nomi, Kala, Riley, Sun–these my gals.

8. Okay old-school, but Voyager is my favourite Star Trek series because a) Janeway as a captain, I live for this, and b) Seven of Nine is the best.

9. Arya Stark. Duh. Love a lot of the GOT gals. Dany and Sansa are favs too. And some deaths that I won’t get into because I’m trying to move on.

(that was more than 10? I can’t contain my love for the fictional ladies)

B: Where I’m from.

-I’m from Germany :)

M: Random fact about me.

-I love cats!

T: Favourite male character from a TV show.

-This is a really difficult decision.. there are so many good TV shows which I love. But I think I’d say Theon Greyjoy (Game of Thrones) I love his character development, his up and downs etc.

U: Favourite female character from a TV show.

-Again a difficult decision… I can’t decide between Nyota Uhura and Lagertha.. ^^’

Thank you for asking!

Favourite Female Characters: Lily Aldrin

In a show that’s pretty well-known for Barney treating women like garbage, the female leads are still very well-rounded. Lily is my favourite because she’s a perfect example of someone who’s in a loving and committed relationship, but doesn’t lose her own identity.

She supports Marshall in his dream of becoming a lawyer, puts up with his childish hijinks (even joining in on them, occasionally) and sort of mothers Ted, Robin and the rest of their group. She’s a nurturer, illustrated by her job as a kindergarten teacher, but is still a disciplinarian with her own sense of ‘Aldrin Justice’. As a part of that, she’s fiercely protective of her friends, but it goes both ways - if one of them slips up, she’s not afraid to give them a sharp talking-to.

Lily is a clear badass of the strong-and-smart variety, but she’s not afraid to be silly. She gives the most sage advice, and always knows what’s best for her friends, but is willing to be there with a hug when people don’t realize she’s right until too late. She’s half of one of the best couples on TV. Also she’s Slap Bet Commissioner, and that’s a pretty big responsibility.
