“i missed something didn’t i?”
it was christmas eve and the kids were overly excited. all day you had been running around the house, preparing everything for when you had both yours and shawn’s families over tomorrow.
thankfully the kids stayed in the living room or their rooms all day watching christmas movies or else you would’ve been even more stressed out.
and to add to it all, shawn wasn’t going to be home until later. he was stuck in boston because of a storm and the earliest flight he could get was late at night. you were thankful he could at least make it home for christmas.
when you told the kids the situation, they insisted that you wait to eat and open presents until shawn gets home. you were fine with that considering you were just as eager to see your husband as the kids were.
“mom!” your 6 year old son alex walked into the living room where you sat, feeding your 5 month old daughter.
“you forgot to put your pyjamas on!” he exclaimed, handing you the unopened bag of red and white striped christmas pyjamas. when you went christmas shopping a few weeks ago, alex along with his siblings, insisted that this year you all wore matching pyjamas.
you took the bag from his hand, “thank you, i almost forgot. i’ll put them on when i’m done here.”
he nodded, walking out of the room to find his brother. it took a little extra convincing for your 13 year old dylan, to wear the pyjamas. but luckily you were able to succeed.
your daughter was already dressed in her white and red striped onesie, and she had a little pacifier with a reindeer on it.
once you finished feeding her and she had fallen asleep, you carried her upstairs with you so you could change into your pyjamas.
“boys,” you called, poking your head into the game room where they were. “let’s go watch a movie while we wait for dad.”
they happily followed you into the living room as the three of you tried to pick a movie to watch. the boys decided they both wanted to sit on the couch with you and their sister, so you were all snuggled up under one blanket.
they decided they wanted to watch elf, their all time favourite christmas movie. you chuckled as the opening started playing, knowing that they were going to be bored of it soon since they’ve seen elf a million times.
about halfway into the movie, alex was asleep on you and so was your daughter. dylan luckily had stayed awake, his phone keeping him busy.
You loved Christmas, especially the Christmas movies. “What’s your favourite?” Fred asks. You grin, “I don’t have a favourite but I do love Elf, Home Alone 2 and Grinch.” George frowns in confusion, “What kind of Christmas film is Grinch?” You gasps, “You have never watched Grinch? Well that has to change. It’s my favourite Christmas movie and I’m making you watch it.” No one argued with you as you went to put in the movie.
Zodiac Advent Calendar Day 1: What the signs remind me of (winter/Christmas edition)
having crazy snowball-fights or building a snowman, snowflakes trapped in your hair or lashes, taking a walk through the christmasy decorated city, the feeling of warmth streaming through your body when you come home after a long and cold day
baking christmas cookies, hot chocolate, misty breath, warm sweaters, the smell of cinnamon, lighting all the christmas candles in the house, decorating the living room, christmas dinner with the whole family
lighting the christmas tree for the first time, breathing in the cold and cleansing winter air, the excitement you feel when you wake up to see the first snow of the year, stuffing your belly with christmas treats, knitted socks
christmas shopping, big scarves and oversized coats, writing christmas cards, long walks on the snow-covered field, the sound of boots walking on the snowy street, gingerbread men, candy canes
christmas markets, staying in with your best friends, ice skating, singing christmas songs at the top of your lungs, hundreds of blankets and pillows, chimneys, the sound of the snow pusher passing by, making snow angels
reading christmas novels and stories in the candlelight, searching for the right christmas tree, mulled wine, wearing your long pyjamas all day, chocolate santas, watching old fairy tale movies on tv
wrapping and unwrapping christmas presents, the excitement you feel when someone is about to open your present, the way snow is glistening in the sun, snow-powdered forests, christmas lights everywhere, different coloured baubles, christmas commercials
watching my favourite christmas movies from childhood all over again, foggy winter mornings, the colour burgundy, advent calendars, oranges, icicles hanging from the gutter, driving through a snowstorm in the evening
secret santa, creating a christmas playlist, santa hats, nutcrackers, reindeers everywhere, winter hikes with your loved ones, cuddly evenings on the couch, sleigh rides, glittery decoration, silver and gold
roasted chestnuts, St. Nicholas day, gingerbread houses, the smell of pine, red noses and rosy cheeks, the way christmas presents look under the tree, watching The Grinch, heavy perfume, kissing under the mistletoe, coming home for Christmas
sitting on the windowsill watching the snow fall, drinking tea, the way trees look without their leaves (a little bit creepy but strangely beautiful), baked apple, warm baths, the star on top of the Christmas tree
listening to Frank Sinatra's voice singing Christmas songs half asleep, being wrapped in blankets, christmas jumpers, cinnamon flavoured popcorn, cosy slippers, genuine anticipation, scented candles, turtlenecks
I’ve expected a different Snape at first. Someone who often lost it when Harry and co. were around, someone who shouted sometimes, someone who was a time bomb. Rickman was different. Maybe because of the script, but this openly stressed Snape just disappeared from the movies and the things that remained were the cape, the elegance, the silky voice, the dramatism. (See book!Snape’s ‘It is I’ and Rickman!Snape’s drama queen moves during the duelling club scene.)
And still, Rickman was great. His Snape suffered, he had cynicism and sarcasm, he was refined and elegant and unreadable. In fact I hardly know him before his role in HP and saw only a few of his work since then (Die Hard is still my favourite Christmas movie and Robin Hood was fun, though). It’s a shame I had to leanr about his humanitarian work and professionalism after his death.
(The only thing I missed from his character was the flickering vein on his temple. I couldn’t imagine how it should look like and I wanted to see it on screen.)
A/N: This is a little Christmas themed Isaac/reader story I thought of and enjoyed writing. I hope you like it and that all of you feel a little Christmas joy. :)
Plot: You are really stressed about Christmas and need to get all the presents for your family, being on your way to the mall and a horrible shopping trip. In the end you get unexpected help from Isaac Lahey and the day turns out a lot better than expected.
time: the most stressful time of the year, for sure. Not only do you have a
thousand exams to study for and papers to do (at least it feels like it), you
are also working at the local coffee shop to earn money for Christmas presents
that you still have to purchase. Today is the only Saturday you don’t have to
work, which means that you definitely have to go to the mall, otherwise you’d
be totally blank on Christmas Eve.
problem is: You don’t really know what
to get everybody and you tried to write a list that still has nothing on it
except for the names of your friends and relatives, so you decided to simply
improvise. You throw away the list with a sigh, grab your purse and hurry
downstairs to get the keys for your car. In that exact moment, the doorbell
with a frown, your hand hovering over the keys while you wonder who on earth
that could be. You have no idea, so you just turn around and open the door,
only to be even more surprised as you find a breathtakingly handsome Isaac with
snowflakes in his hair standing on your porch. You freeze, eyes widened and
heart beating fast, as a small smile appears on his lips, making matters even

face falls. “Oh, are you up to something?”
kind of”, you stutter. “Sorry, Isaac, but…what exactly are you doing here?”
here to study. With you”, he answers as if it’s the most obvious thing in the
world. You can already see the disappointment in his eyes. “Buuuut I guess you
forgot about that.”
have. That’s the sad truth and it must mean that you’re really awfully busy
because you never thought you could ever forget about a meeting with Isaac
Lahey. Now that he mentioned it, you remember something about studying for the
Chemistry exam together. But you did it on your own yesterday evening. Great.
Suddenly you’re filled with regret and guilt.
sorry, Isaac! I did. I mean, I was working and writing those papers and I
really have to go to the mall today or my family will hate me and ban me. Well,
they probably wouldn’t but there’s a possibility”, you ramble, resisting the
urge to run your fingers through his wonderful curls and free them from the
snowflakes that are slowly melting now.
stands there, hands in his pockets, teetering on his feet and thinking for a
moment. Then he finally shrugs with a smile, releasing your tension.
then to the mall it is”, he states.
do you mean?”
we could go there together, saving you from your family’s wrath. Unless you don’t
want me to come.”
you hurry, because there is nothing you want more than spending a whole day
with Isaac Lahey. “No, I just never took you for a mall kinda guy.”
not. But I guess you’re neither so this ought to be fun”, he claims with a

dreaded, the mall is filled to its last corner. There are definitely too many
people around, especially for you. Isaac doesn’t seem all too relaxed either
and somehow this sign of likeness comforts you a little.
do we start?”, Isaac asks, protectively putting his hand on your shoulder which
you don’t mind at all. As well as the light trace of nervousness in his voice
as he does so. “Do you have a list?”
clear your throat awkwardly: “Well, see…that’s the thing…”
around and stares at you shocked. “You have no list?”
Like I told you: this is not gonna be fun.”
guess that means that we just have to look into the shops and find something.
Let’s enter the battle.”
that he pulls you into the crowd to an unknown destination, never letting go of
end it’s a lot more fun than you ever expected. Isaac’s stiffness disappears
pretty quickly, at the latest as you enter the scarf section and he tries to
persuade you to buy one for your dad. You laugh at him hysterically as you make
him try on some hats, totally losing it at one that looks like a cow’s head.
Afterwards he suggests a bunch of horrifying purses, making you doubt his sanity
until he helps you to pick out a good perfume by using his sensitive nose,
coming far too close to you while smelling it, making you all flustered. As you
both get hungry after three hours, you decide to sit down and get some pizza.
moment, as you are sitting in front of him at the table, watching him secretly,
you realize that all of this pretty much feels like a date. You don’t mind at
all. Something you dreaded turned out to be the best day since a very long time.
what’s next?”, Isaac asks, waving with a slice of pizza. “We haven’t visited
the electronic section yet.”
have to”, you answer, fetching the food out of his hand and taking a bite
yourself. “I have everything I need.”
he prompts, raising his eyebrows in surprise. “No aunts or nieces left?”
You officially are a free man.”
That means we can drive to yours and study after all. Unless you want to get
rid of me, which I’d totally understand.”
that but his huge blue puppy gaze tells a whole other story. You could never
resist them and expanding this date seems like a great idea anyway.
never. Come on.”
enter your house with him you are feeling the Christmas joy for the very first
time this year. You appreciate the colourful lights, the cookie smell, all of
the typical Christmas stuff your Mum prepared. And it’s even better with Isaac
at your side.
know what? Why don’t you go upstairs and prepare the books while I make us some
tea and get the cookies?”
for me”, Isaac responds with a sweet smile before he disappears upstairs. And
you’re not proud of it but you actually catch a glimpse on his butt and you don’t
hurry to make the tea and put some of the cookies on a plate. Your heart is
beating a little faster than usual as you walk up the stairs and open the door
only to find him sprawled on your bed, looking like he absolutely belongs
“Hey, I don’t
see any books!”, you exclaim, balancing the tray onto the matrass with his
smirks at you. “No. You know, I thought: it’s Christmas, right? That means that
sometimes you should just lie down and watch a movie, relax and enjoy the
warmth and silence.”
wanna stay and watch a movie with me?”, you ask him in pleased disbelief.
We could watch your favourite Christmas movie if there is one!”
That would be the first Santa Claus movie. I’ll put it into the player.”
so and afterwards snuggle into your bed. It doesn’t take long until he puts his
arm around you and pulls you to his side, allowing you to bed your head on his
chest. You can smell his scent and feels his calm breathing. You feel intense
affection and also how your body finally relaxes after so many stressful days.
