So I discovered this meme on instagram and IT LOOKS SO COOL that I did it too. The game consist in making a drawing and then repeat the drawing trying to mimic the art style of some of the artists you admire! (I HAD SO MUCH FUN DOING THIS THING)
So here it is, hope you all like it, I made it with all my heart :3 Im sorry for ruining your styles guys hahaha
1- that’s my lil Nico di Angelo.
2- @indigonite‘s Nico, I tried my best here, but BRO so hard to color like Bruna. Maybe I made him a lil too red ;u;
3- @saberghatz‘s Nico. Idk why but it looks more like saber’s last year’s art, cause her Nico changed a little, but I love both her Nicos, so :v
4- @tamaytka‘s Nico. Im sorry that I ruined the way you draw eyes, I really LOVE your eyes, but I COULD NOT make justice to them.
5- @leegarbettart Lee Garbett never drew Nico but he is my favorite artist in comic books, he draws Loki in Agent of Asgard, and I love his art so much!
6- @onihimeart also never drew Nico, but her art style is so complicated that I could not even make it look alike ;u; Sorry friend!
YOU SHOULD NOT EXPLAIN YOUR ART, BUT MAYBE IT’S ARTIST’S TWISTED MIND...
A FEW DAYS AGO MY FRIEND @wingedbelievereagle SUBMITTED ME SOME PICTURES TAKEN AT HER VACATION. SHE GAVE ME THE OPTION TO USE THEM FOR MY OWN ART. I GLADLY TOOK THIS NEW CHALLENGE. THANKS AGAIN, YOU ROCK. :-D :-D :-D :-D (ENJOY HER ORIGINAL PICS ON MY SIDE BLOG @artoffriends)
FROM TIME TO TIME PEOPLE ASK ME HOW I DEVELOPE MY IDEAS. WELL, THESE EDITED PICS ARE A GOOD EXAMPLE OF WHAT’S GOING ON IN MY TWISTED MIND.
AS A KID I WAS TERRIFIED BY THE STORY ‘’THE DAY OF THE DRAGON’’ BY SAMUEL GUY ENDORE. I REDISCOVERED IT SOME TIME AGO. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guy_Endore TO ME DRAGONS WERE NEVER EVIL, BUT NOBLE MAGICK CREATURES OF ETERNAL WISDOM. ONLY DANGEROUS WHEN ATTACKED. THIS CAME INTO MY MIND WHEN I DID THE PICTURE WITH THE FERRIS WHEEL. AS HIGH WE HUMANS CAN REACH THE SKY, WE WILL NEVER MATCH THE GRACE OF THE DRAGONS. I TURNED THE DOOM BRINGING CREATURES FROM THE STORY INTO A PEACEFUL, FAIRY TALE LIKE ILLUSTRATION.
ALL THESE IDEAS CAME FROM MY SUBCONCIOUS MIND. FOR THE ART COMPOSITION I USED VARIOUS DIGITAL MIXED MEDIA TECHNIQUES AND TOOLS. I CAN NOT USE EVERY SUBMITTED PICTURE AND STILL PREFER MY OWN STUFF, BUT SEND ME A SUBMISSION IF YOU LIKE, I MAY TRY TO TURN IT INTO SOMETING DIFFERENT. NOT WITHOUT YOUR PERMISSION AND SHARED CREDITS OF CAUSE.
I’m sure all of you are wondering what the heck happened to this comic and if it’s ever going to continue?
The honest answer is Yes, but probably not any time soon, because I want to improve my art and get a better hold of the comic structure before diving headfirst into it like last time. I did say that it was an experiment, and that is all there is to it. I wasn’t planning on doing the entire comic in one go, it was just a test to see what the response to it was. And it was surprisingly positive, which I am incredibly grateful for!
The other honest answer is that I’m very hesitant to because of two reasons:
1) After the first three week hiatus, I started getting sudden bursts of anon hate on my main blog. Some of them were cracks about the art style or complaining about the lack of updates or simply saying that it just sucks. I promptly blocked these users, but it still made a negative impact on whether I would still provide content for people who don’t seem to want it. I know it’s unfair for the people who did want more, but it really rubbed me the wrong way. I’m sorry to those who still like this comic, you guys are the absolute best
2) The second reason that after looking to my favorite comic artists for advice, I started getting discouraged. They said that I shouldn’t be doing a web comic at such a young age and that I should be better prepared for it when I am older. I know they have a good point and that they mean well, but it hurt coming from the people I looked up to. I started questioning whether I should be doing this at all, and I eventually started feeling like I was incapable of writing and drawing a comic. I was incredibly disheartened.
However, now that I am getting a much better hold of digital drawing, I am finding myself to be improving much more from the last time I updated this blog! I find it very encouraging to look back at this comic and see how far I’ve come in less than a year.
So stay positive and patient, Eddheads! It’s what we learned after all these years and we should always support each other in our community. Thank you all for reading this comic, and stick around for more updates!
